IndianaBasketballParticipant19 points, 24 rebounds and 4 blocks in his CBA debut. We all know the competition isn’t great in the CBA, but it’s good to see the big fella playing again… Especially considering he fractured his hand during the pre-season.
Can he make it back to the NBA?

JordanC20ParticipantI think he just needs to accept that he’s an NBA bust and move on to where he feels comfortable…there is a lot of expectation from him if he were to return.

BleedGreen808ParticipantAnybody else notice he likes to swing on the rim after he dunks? I can’t remember if he got hurt doing that but it could not have helped his knees and legs any. But as always when I see a video of Oden or Roy you wonder how good a "Big 3" of Oden, Roy, and Aldridge would have been.

ScarTissue98Participant35? Greg Oden was one of the best College Prospects of this young Century…. He Dominated w/ ONE arm – & it was his off arm! He needed shoulder surgery early in his freshman year & rushed back to play w/ his team even though he knew he would be reduced to a one armed player & he Still dominated & led a weak Ohio St team to the Final Four Title game…..
I don’t understand how people can still bash this guy when all he has done is have surgery after surgery & even though he was seriously diminished he still went out there tried to get back on the court…..
I have nothing but respect for this man b/c he just refuses to give up…..

I May Be WrongParticipantRooting for him and I hope he does make it back as a solid big man off a championship bench. Actually, IndianaBasketball, he would be a GREAT fit for the Pacers if he were to regain his confidence. But it’s good to see these highlights and I know it must feel great from a mental aspect to have fun doing what you grew up loving. On a side note, at the end of the video a related video was Mike Beasley scoring 49 points and grabbing 14 rebounds! *sigh* what could have been lol.

ZachAttackParticipantThe reason he’s doing so good is because it’s in the CBA. If he came back, I think that he’d just produce the same old results.

cargathusParticipantHis old results were good when healthy. 11 ppg, 8.5 rpg, and 2.3 bpg in 24 mpg is pretty damn solid. If he could produce at the same rate in half the time (5.5 ppg, 4 rpg, 1.2 bpg in 12 mpg) and stay healthy, that is an extremely productive 3rd big.

I am an idiotParticipantThere is no question he has the ability to play in the NBA (or he used to, anyway). The question has always been; can he stay on the court? One game against sub-par competition doesn’t prove anything.
I do wish him the best, it would be great to see one of the biggest draft bust in history make it back to the NBA.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI thought Miami would be a great situation for him a few years ago but I guess it wasn’t. He just needs to play basketball right now for an extended period of time to get his confidence back on the court but he can never seem to stay healthy long enough. I really hope he does make it back to the league at some point but I wouldn’t bet on it right now.

RUDEBOY_Participanthe got a few offers from about 4 nba teams this past summer.but the problem was nobody wanted to give him a guarantee deal.you couldnt blame them, knowing his injury history.but if he can play in china for a full season doesnt get hurt.and continue to play well,he’ll get another shot.

ChewyParticipantThere are players who were busts because they didn’t develop and their play on the court sucked; Morrison and Kwame Brown Types.
Then there are players who never lived up to their draft position because they couldn’t stay healthy and play; Bowie and Oden (and maybe Embiid?).
Do you guys call the players in the 2nd category busts because they didn’t produce on the court? Or do you not call them busts because their limited play is still impressive?

theballerwayParticipantto me he was a bust as a No 1 pick, especially when you consider who came next. The No1 pick is supposed to help elevate your franchise. Obviously he failed to do this because of injuries but surely theres a bottom line. ‘Did you produce’ or provide value for that pick. Maybe we give hime an asterix but from a franchise perspective you have to call that pick a bust imo.
its debatable
