I.C.Y.U.NV.MEParticipantTonight is a big game for Grayson Allen. His stellar play in the championship game is carrying over to this season, (albeit against inferior competition). So far he’s averaged 27, 4, 4 on some good shooting percentages, but I want to see what he does on the big stage as the teams go to guy. What do you guys think?..Can he keep up this level of play? Who wins the match up between him and Jamal Muray? At the end of last season, he was getting very premature talks of being a first round pick. With a good performance, where do you see his draft stock going?

SlickBouncePassParticipanthis stock rose only really based on the Finals. He was a McDonalds AA, but otherwise wasn’t a standout on that Duke team. He and the other guards stepped their game up when it mattered, an underrated trait. Bigtime players pick their games up in pressure situations, a la Steph Curry in last year’s 4th quarter of the finals.
Grayson Allen really impressed with his play then, because I didn’t think much of him. Now his length (his arms), and athleticism is showing as he is the leader of the team. But yeah he didn’t face anyone with Kentucky athleticism or bigs.
I think he showed me enough in the 2nd half of the ncaa finals and is carrying it over into this year.
This ain’t Bobby Hurley or Jon Scheyer.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantHe reminds me of Bob sura. He seems to play mostly off of raw physical talent and athletic ability at this stage. I still think his ball-handling and decision making could use some refinement but he clearly has NBA athleticism and could be a nice combo guard at the next level.

I.C.Y.U.NV.MEParticipantI love the Bob Sura comparison. Good one man. I also think his ball handling can use some work. From what I’ve seen so far, he uses the off arm a lot to fend ppl off. That will start to get called more as the season progresses.

SubZeroParticipantEven though I’m a UK fan and I obviously want us to win, I also want to see him ball out. I like him a lot, especially after the way he kept Duke in some of those big games in the tournament last season

Bankroll PJParticipantAs a UK fan, Duke’s squad right now scares me. I wouldn’t be concerened later in the season because Cal always has his teams playing better as the season goes on, but for the game tonight I don’t know what to expect.
Grayson Allen has been on fire to start the season and I’m not sure Briscoe or Murray will stay in front of him without fouling.
Amile Jefferson and Marshall Plumlee are both two physical players that defend without fouling and dominate on the boards. I’m scared they could be too tough for Skal, Lee, and Poythress right now. I love Alex, but he always leaves you wanting more. If he plays like he did vs Duke as a freshman, when he was thought to be a top 10 talent, I’d be more confident, but I don’t see that happening. Skal is extremely skilled but I could see him having a hard time with the physicality of Plumlee and Amile Jefferson.
I think we’ll have to see some heroics from Ulis and/or Jamal Murray for UK to win this game tonight.
Brandom Ingram is super talented but at this point he’s still figuring out where his shots will come from so I don’t see him being a dynamic player in this game, but his 3 point shooting ability along with Matt Jones and Luke Kennard could cause problems for UK.

SkalAndJamalParticipantNo lie, me too. I dont expect this UK team to be rolling till later in this season. We cant let Ingram and Allen go off on us.

Bankroll PJParticipantI could easily see this kid becoming college basketball’s most love/hated player since JJ Reddick.

SkalAndJamalParticipantI would LOVE to see him on the Bulls. I hope he stays at Duke though, he makes college basketball better.

DukeDaSquadParticipantPeople are quick to point out what hes doing against weaker competition but every time Grayson has been given ample playing time he has produced. The conference game where he dropped 27 super easy last year, and in the tourney. If duke had played him more, there is no doubt he would have put up good numbers last season also, especially since he wouldnt have been the main the main focus on offense. He fits Duke’s system well but Coach K always puts his best players in position to succeed. That is why Duke has seen such a jump in recruiting, along with coack K’s willingness to recruit the one and dones

ncballerMost of your posts are pretty unbiased. As a diehard UNC fan I have had my fair share of homer posts on here due to my loyalty to my Heels. I gotta call you out on a homer post brother. That was a homer post on your part man. I get it though. We are all guilty from time to time.

NBAjunkie81ParticipantGrayson’s confidence was very shaken,…. & he really struggled… He just did not look like he was on the same level with the NBA prospects playing for both teams….

bumbleb33Participanthe just goes beeline for the rim….. the kentucky freshmen treated him like a 10 yr old. He needs to learn some change of direction, eurosteps or be able to pass to open shooters

rtbtParticipantI agree with NBAJunkie. Grayson’s confidence was shot and he looked as if he was completely lost on the court. The good news is this is very early in the season and it might be a much needed wake up call to the kid, letting him know he has to improve and step up the variety of his game. He has a long season to work on his shortcomings and improve. I have to think he’s a much better player than he looked last night. Is he?

King CaluchaParticipantHe’s going to be a good player in the league. Probably will be taken in the late 1st/early 2nd though. I really want to see him being consistent on the defensive end. Good motor.
