Multiple sources are reporting Allen will come back for his senior season at Duke.

Not a terribly surprising decision, but a smart one nonetheless in my opinion. Worst case scenario he gets his degree and has a long career in Europe.

Had he declared this year, he might’ve had a shot at going in the 35-45 range. Personally, I despite all the drama, I still see him as a first round talent. I think if (and it’s a big if) he can avoid major controversy and Duke does well next year, he can go Top 20.

Do you all agree, or do you think the damage is irreperable he’s run out of chances?

This year’s draft isn’t that deep after the mid-first round. He could have gone 20th, who knows? But more than likely a late first or early second round pick.

He just isn’t an NBA player.  Never was.  These on court incidents are all situations where he got beat and tripped his man.  Nik Stauskas is tall, faster, can jump as high and shoots better. Nik is an end of the roster guy for the Sixers.

Grayson Allen fits the mold of the average, white Duke player that everyone loves to hate.  He should get his degree and poach a sweet job in sales using his likeness to his advantage. In actually more interested to see where Luke ends up.  He is a two and done guy like Stauskas and actually has a chance in the league because of that sweet stroke.  Side note: how did Kinnard escape Duke without the hated white guy moniker?  Always fixin g his hair…show us your hairline Luke

Allen is a good college player, but his mental game is suspect.  All of the tripping, crying, and drama associated with his antics really is a head-scratcher.  What’s up with this guy?

As far as what he brings to the table, it is not overly impressive.  He had a great shooting year as a sophomore and he was a first round prospect after that season.  This last season his numbers were pedestrian.  When you have a guy who does nothing at an NBA level, with the propensity for on-court antics, that just don’t scream NBA prospect.  Plus now, he is going to be a 4 year guy so he has no upside anymore.  He is now at best, a second-rounder if that.

If anything, I think Grayson Allen is a cautionary tale for college players wanting an NBA career.  When you are projected as a first round pick, you go.  Staying an extra year has the risk of relative underperformance, unmasking undesirable traits, and loss of buzz.  All three of these applied to Allen.  The biggest risk though I think is injury, and that can kill your stock.  Even an elite talent like Harry Giles has fallen like a rock in the draft because of knee problems.  An injury to Grayson Allen would push him out of the second round.

It is outrageous to say that being a senior automatically means you have no potential, a player’s peak is usually around the age of 28, not 23.

I think Allen came into the year thinking he would easily dominate everyone, but nagging injuries and team chemistry made it a lot harder than he expected and he kind of snapped. He’ll be extra motivated nw and will probably work his butt off in the summer,

Allen has nice tools, he is a strong athletic 6’5” combo guard with a nice stroke. If he develops well over the year, he will have the appeal of a relatively NBA-ready player who you can have for 4 years on a very low salary – something many playoff contenders picking mid-late first might want.

That is a big ‘if; though, basically, but it is a possibility. Getting drafted in 2016 would’ve been nice for him, but NBA teams are very impatient nowadays, and he might’ve been out of the league and without a degree by 2020. Sure he would’ve gotten lots of money, but in the long-term it could’ve been a mistake.

Allen had enough credits to be considered a rising senior after he finised his sophomore year. Also NBA players go back to school every summer to finish their degree.

Not saying that he is a broke man’s version of Russell’s Westbrook or James Harden, but if anybody averages a triple double in college next season it will be Grayson Allen. lol. Although Coach K will probably use him more as a point guard. I can see him getting to the line a mind-numbing number of times.

Frank Jackson and Duval will most likely be Duke’s backcourt next season.

for a white guy.  As a guard we’ve seen enough.  I don’t think he will develop his game any further than he already has.  Unless he somehow becomes a knock-down shooter, I highly doubt he will be able to keep up with NBA guards and athleticism.  He struggles to finish at the rim over 3 years now.  I’d take him with a late second round pick…he is definitely athletic, I just don’t think he’s skilled enough.  There are plenty of guys like that in the NBA now, but he realy has to either become a great vision/passer guy or a great shooter, I don’t see his skills as a guard matching his athleticism to allow him to become a really good player.

Kennard is extremely unathletic, I highly doubt he has a career in the NBA.

I think Grayson returning to Duke might push Duval out of Durham.  Gart Trent Jr., Grayson and Frank Jackson will for a very good backcourt.  Everybody has an opinion on Grayson.  He’s a good college player. He’s a good college athlete but will be below average in the NBA.  His lateral quickness is seriously lacking.  In my opinion, Grayson has serious mental issues.  It’s not his fault he has them, but I believe Duke and Coach K have enabled him.  His "indefinite" one game suspension was embarrassing.  I think Grayson will have a solid, but unspectacular senior year and get drafted early in the second round in 2018.

He kinda reminds me of Danny Ainge, although Ainge was an absolutely dominant college player. I don’t think Allen will be that good in the NBA. Maybe more like Jerry Sichting.
