Clearly, the best perimeter player on this Utah Jazz team is Gordon Hayward.

After the departures of Jefferson, Millsap, Mo Williams, and Randy Foye, there should be a lot of shots to go around and Hayward will be the one taking them; especially coming off a 14-3-3 season. Also, with a rookie point guard, Hayward may assume passing responsibilities every now and again.

Will Gordon Hayward average 20PPG, 5APG, and 4RPG? Is he that good? What’s his potential?

The 20 ppg doesn’t sound plausible because he’s just not a #1 option and is just OK at creating his own offense. He has improved in that area, but not to the level of being a legit #1, even on a bad team. As a shooter he’s better playing off of others, but both Jazz young bigs are poor passers and they don’t really have any good play makers. Hayward’s probably the best playmaker on the team currently. Because of that he’ll be playing some point forward, which the Jazz did flash during the preseason. I could see him being a 5ast 4+reb though. Those #’s are achievable this yr IMO.

Even at his peak I don’t think he’s a 20 ppg scorer. Maybe he might sniff 20 if he remains on a really bad team during his peak (in which case, who cares about inflated stats on bad teams), but I think ideally he’s a #3 on a good team. I think his value will be more so based on his all-around play, not just his ability to score. He’s already a knockdown shooter, he’s a good passer, can handle a little bit, has good size for the wing, high IQ and he’s an improved man defender as well. IMO, at his peak and on a good team, he’s more of a high teens scorer.

Agreed completely. I think this year he’ll put up around 16, 5, and 4 depending on how long Burke ends up being out. If misses the majority of the season or something, I could see the assist numbers being higher.

He’s a solid player, but just isn’t the go-to type IMO.

I think his peak is 18, 5 and 5 for a conference semi finals team. He will probably get close to that this year but they won’t mean much other than he is improving.

The small consensus is he’s a well rounded player with good shooting and nice intandibles but suited to be a 3rd option on a contender and more likely a high teens scorer in his prime. So how much is he woirth. I was reading yesterday that his reps and the Jazz are far apart on a figure for the extension.

The Jazz are in a tough spot with the make up of there team. Nicve young pieces but still no ‘Alpha’ piece if yu will yet the contracts on their young talent is adding up quickly. With Kantner, even Burks to resign soon.

TATQ- If T.Burke were to develop into a truly amazing distributor then maybe he could get up to 20ppg assuming also that the Bigman combo will draw alot of defensive attention and double teams at some stage.

His statistical ceiling is comparable to Mike Dunleavy, Jr.’s, i.e. 19-5-3.5 on a below .500 team (Indiana was 36-46 when Dunleavy averaged that stat-line).
