So as the days go by and most good free agents are signed(LeBron James omitted), JR Smith looks like he’s not going to be back with the Cavs. After kind of getting low-balled last offseason, JR is looking to cash in at the price of $15 mill a year. Most teams are still looking to hit that salary CAP floor and I could see a number of teams take a flyer on JR. What teams are the best fit for JR?(besides the Cavs)

*Boston Celtics – Saw this team come up as a good option. The Celtics were allergic to shooting the ball outside the paint in last year’s playoffs and could use JR’s jacking-up-shots ability in the backcourt

*Atlanta Hawks – He would be an instant upgrade over Tim Hardaway, but not sure if Atlanta would be willing to put up the money

*Brooklyn Nets – With lots of money to giveaway combined with swinging and missing on notable free agent guards, Allan Crabbe and Tyler Johnson, Brooklyn might be the best fit yet for JR. Smith could start immediately and get his money.

I think they could use his veteran experience in the playoffs. I wonder if the Jae Crowder incident causes some pause though. Crowder is highly valued on the team and there might be some tension there when Smith KO’d him in the playoffs in 2015 w/ out apology

If he wants to compete for another ring, San Antonio or Chicago could use him as a 6th man…

If he just wants the highest payday he can get, well the 76ers could defintly use a SG with exellent range on his 3 Point Shot…They’d offer him more Than Henderson and Bayless got…A 2 year deal with philly for like 12 million per season sounds nice to me, imagine all the open 3’s he can shoot with Simmons dishing and Okafor drawing in double teams…

Not sure if they have cap space but he would fit perfectly on Memphis. Conley JR Parson Randolph and Gasol is solid staring 5.

Would love to see JR become a Hawk. Doubt it happens though. He becomes that go to scorer on the wing we so desperately need. Hard to see him leaving Cleveland though, and we don’t have the money.

He would be ideal starting SG in Indiana.

Philly isn’t as barmy as it sounds given they have cap space and need some experience. But Smith taking shots away from the younger guys may not be ideal.

A lot depends on whether he wants to try for more titles or possibly look for the best possible pay day. He is 31 soon and has a title so under the new cap might try to cash in. Lots far less proven players than him have got great pay days this summer so he could get a very nice deal especially if it is only for 2 or 3 years.

One option I had was the Bucks, they desperately need 3 point shooting and he could provide that option for them.

Brooklyn is also a legit call as they missed out on two FA guards when offers were matched.

As regards Cavs, I’d assume that they are waiting for LBJ to agree terms then they look at JR. We haven’t heard that JR is unhappy about no deal yet and he could have easily agreed terms with another team if he was.
