valentineI think may players this offseason made huge mistakes and smart decisions in going back to college
Good-
Willie Warren- He would have gone late lottery (12-14) and could have slid to the late 1st
Al-Farouq Aminu- good player could have gone top 10 but I think the way WF flamed out, he would have his leadership questioned.
Samardo Samuels- he would have had a Jrue Holiday like rise through draft boards. He could be a solid pick next year.
Kemba Walker- Walker could have entered this draft and been a fringe 1st rounder due to his upside.
Devin Ebanks-He has alot of skills to ring to the table if he makes his jumpers next season, TOP 10 pick
Bad
Cole Aldrich- He would have been a lottery pick. All eyes are on him now, Is he a C at the next level?
Craig Brackins-A top 10 pick. He needs to add muscle but in a draft with his frame but his skillset is NBA ready
Greg Monroe- I understand why he came back. He was a top 4 lock….he coulld be the new blake griffin
Tell me anyone you wanna add or wanna move…what do u think?

auberParticipantI thought Willie Warren should have came out. I think Blake greatly improved his game and would go late lottery to mid 1st regardless of the year.
Patrick Patterson should have come out. I think his stock drops with so many players around him.

sheltwon3ParticipantPatrick Patterson should be alright especially if his team goes final four and Warren should be the man this year

iguapops420ParticipantRight on with most asside from Monroe as he will be able to go back and fine une his big man skills at the school best known for it. Also i think Warren would have been a top 10 pick i this draft as his jumper is NICE, he’d have ended up similar to Tyreke Evans. Difference is that Warren has balance of jumpers and drives while Tyreke Vastly needs to improve his jumper. And i’m VERY high on Evans. Think his pg abilities are Vastly underrated. He’s a noch below Mayo IMO. Just a little too much street ball in him to match OJ’s bball IQ.

knicksfreakParticipantMonroe could have battled for #2 this year and as things stand now he could drop behind Wall, Favors at the least. If he has another poor year, his potential talks will start to fade and he could slide bigtime.

iguapops420ParticipantI don’t think Monroe’s choice to go back was based on where he was projected to be drafted but for simple reason of him not being ready. Monroe knows that he could go back learn more get tougher get more experience and then come in as the best player he can be.

Johnny_HazeltineParticipantGood – Ed Davis, PF. He will have a chance to develop his talent by playing quality minutes as a feature player.
Bad – Ed Davis, PF. His stock was soaring after the season, like former Tar Heel Marvin Williams. If he was about making the most money and playing in the NBA, then he should’ve come out. He might’ve gone 4th.
Overall, it’ll probably be a smart decision in the long term for Davis.

knicksfreakParticipantHe seemed to be limited in the Princeton style and never showed dominance. He was so hyped up because of his potential but that fades every year he stays.

iguapops420ParticipantStill, teams will know what he brings to the table once he does decide to enter, and he will not fall past 20 in that regard and will consitently do at the least what he did this year. Furthermore, once he does enter the league, like i stated before he will be the best player he can be amd will make teams regret passing on him.

knicksfreakParticipant20 is a long fall when he could have gone 2. OKC would have been great for him.

iguapops420ParticipantAgreed i think that would have been great for him, just that i think in thelong run going back will help him as he will develop a mid range jumper consistently, and will be able to refine his guard skills and post game. Not to mention he’s a bit of a poor rebounder. Seems fairly similar to Jeff Green who never really shined at Georgetown the way he should have, and he went back for another year and ithelped him become a 5th overall pick. Going back another year would have killed his stock the way Hibbert went from top 5 to like 18 or something, and that too was in an incredible draft. I’m not worried about Monroe going back as the weaknessesin his game his freshman season are the same things he needs to work on to be able to shine in that offense.

DeedsBad
Patrick Patterson and Cole Aldrich should have entered the draft. Patterson would been a top 20 prospect and Aldrich a top 10.Good
Nice decision by Aminu, and Monroe to stay a year more and develop their game , By the way Monroe’s not a new Blake Griffin, Look out for Ed Davis in next year’s draft.0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/06/2009 - 3:34am #157448
ThesportsKId3ParticipantGOod 1.Ed Davis- Made the best decision he can go back to Unc and work on his game and become even better,Not just end up like past players based on huge potenial like Marvin Williams,Branden Wright etc…. 2.Greg MONroe-Same thing above for MOnroe stayin one year shouldn’t hurt look what Happened to Blake Griffin 3.Willie Warren-its 50/50 for Warren because this year he would have competed with a lot of point guards this year and next year with guys like John Wall in the Draft unfortunately he would not be the first point guard taking Bad 1.COle Aldrich-I just DOn’t get it in a year weak of centers he doesn’t go now he has to compete with hs stars DErrick Favors and Cousins for a top spot. The Guy already won a championship how much more can his stock improve? 2.Craig Brackins-Could of been a potenial lottery pick this year, now with guys like Davis&MOnroe staying who knows 3.Evan Turner-Even though he probly made the best decision to go back and work on his game he should of just entered just see where he stands against other WIng/Forwards players

QHaynes123I think Ed Davis made a good-bad choice…With John Henson coming in…if he plays C and does well…he may b tin the race for the 1st pick
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/06/2009 - 6:20am #157479

iguapops420ParticipantEd Davis made a wise choice as he’s about as raw as they come. Legit potential, but lo what happened to Brandan Wright coming out after year one. So far hasn’t quite lived up to those KG comparisons, noteven bosh. Andray Blatche maybe?

QHaynes123Branden Wright never showed that superstar potential to me at UNC….can he even shoot?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/06/2009 - 6:30am #157484
j1232eParticipantwould have gone 10-15 this year. If he continue to develope this year a 5-7 pick next year. Smart move. Willie warren stock will soar when scouts relieze he can score any time he wants. this year 15-20 next year 3-5 Smart move. I see these two players improving the most by staying in the ncaa!

iguapops420ParticipantThat’s becausehe was held down by the college posterboy PsychoT. Bt he did sho the lashes such as dominant defense, passing even showed full court balhandling ability as i saw him on more than one occasion get a steal o a board and push it out himself igniting the fastbreak. only 18…that’s why the KG comparisns. Unfortunately he never had the motor or desie to get better. Not to mention he was isolated to youn man’s hell in GS. One notch above the Clips in temrs ofdeveloping young talent.

QHaynes123when I saw Aldrich vs Dayton when he had a Trip-Doub….i said ” i want him on my team” he has everything i want in a Center. I think he would have went 6 to minnesota this year.
He reminds me of like a Tim Duncan like player, he did everything with ease in that game….i thought he was gone but by coming back, someone will get him and rep his benefits.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/06/2009 - 7:04pm #157881

iguapops420Participant^^^Agreed that was when i began to actually like him as well.

QHaynes123i honestly pray the knicks get a 2010 1st rounder to try to get him…
