I was taking a look at the Celtics roster trying to figure out what they might do in a month from now. There team consists of one borderline all star and a hold lot of role players. The amount of success that Brad Stevens is able to have with that line up is truly remarkable. Juxtaposing his career with Butler makes me believe that he truly understands how to gain the respect of his players, which in today’s nba, is no small feet. Props to you, Brad Stevens!!!

Regarding the draft, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if Boston makes the biggest push to try to get something done with the Lakers. Danny Ainge tries to make big moves and I don’t think he’s simply willing to take another prospect at the 3 spot unless he’s convinced there is superstar potential there. I’m not one to throw out silly trades, I’m just saying that it makes sense to me that Boston isn’t picking at #3 on draft night.

Lakers would be stupid to give away thier draft pick. I see a pretty big fall off after the top 2 picks.

The bigger question is who do they draft at 3? Hield or Murray maybe Bender..they have kinda a hard roster to draft..prospects at every position but none of them will be a star that can lead to to a ship.

      agree on both fronts.

i’m having the same problem figuring out what they draft.  do they let turner go, move smart to staring 2 and bump up rozier to back up pg?  has rj hunter or james young shown any promise to fill in the back up 2/3 role.  jerebko and johnson have team options and sully is a restricted fa.  not sure what’s the plan with them.  think the bigger need would be bender but murray fits the mold of a guy as far as versatility in the backcourt and ability to shoot.

As much as I love Buddy Hield, I think they should and will take Jamal Murray. I’ve cited my rationale in previous posts, so I won’t elaborate too much. Obviously they need star power and someone who can be an explosive scorer. Hield also fits the bill, but he’s four years older and less of an insurance against Marcus Smart not working out as a secondary ball-handler after Isaiah Thomas (I’ve been a critic of Smart since his college days and I personally wouldn’t have touched him in the lottery, much less No. 6 overall!)

Stevens is a good coach but you have to settle down a bit since Celtics are in the east.  I guess you can do a Stotts post too since he has done the same thing only in the west.

I think they surprise and pick up Bender. They obviously love Thomas at the point, and i’d be surprised if they draft Murray or Hield and not think about moving Bradley. I’m from philly and I’ve said numerous times that some sort of package of Noel for Bradley would be nice for both the sixers and celtics.

Noel for Bradley 16 and 23. Sounds good to me

I think Celtics would rather trade than spend huge in free agency, Who knows a superstar maybe on the shopping list come draft day

I’ve always said Danny Ainge has options – he has loads of picks due, cap space, successful and big franchise to entice players to, top young coach, some decent role players on reasonable money to trade and he already has a near 50 win team to improve on.

I personally think he will have a possible FA list of who he thinks he has a better than even chance of getting and will go all out for them like Spurs did with LMA. Not like some other big teams who will go after everyone and think their standing alone will attract these players regardless of their current winning chances.

If he thinks that if he trades for certain players before FA then he has a better chance to obtain said FA target he might do so. But he also has the caveat that he looks at all draft choices carefully and if he thinks Bender, Hield etc could help the team improve more than possible trade options or FA targets he goes down that route and builds via draft.

He knows he has the chance of excellent high picks from Nets via place swap or owning picks in 2017 and 2018 draft too. He has those up his sleve and I think he is canny enough to wait until next year if need be to see what they may be worth. IMO the chances of the Nets hugely improving and the picks falling down the draft is lower than him flipping them now and missing out on a possible superstar in 2017 or 2018, so I think he holds them for now.

Brad has done wonders with a young roster and has cemented his position as one of the brightest young coaches around today.

roster is decent………. but that’s about it………. & as far as the Draft…….. Simmons is the Clear, runaway #1 pick & it’s not even close………

I believe Brandon Ingram is a lot closer to Jamal Murray (& I really Like Murray as a scorer & Leader)….. than he is to Ben Simmons…………

Ingram is a decent Shooter…… & he lacks an explosive 1st step……. He never blows by people even at the college level…… he uses angles & pump fakes well to ger his shoulder even w/ the defender…….

& anyone who has ever played basketball at any level knows ……. if you can get that position you can can drive even if your are slow………. & that’s what Ingram does in college – he uses leverage Not quickness……

In the Pro’s…….. he’ll Never be able to get by a professional defender……… After 4 years if he gains some weight he’ll learn a few tricks……. but Ingram has Nothing close to the Explosive 1st step KD has Always had…….. Their college stats are Not even Close………………..
