BishopParticipantWiz should trade Arenas to Raps for Calderon and a portion of the trade exception. That wayWall get the team to himself and Arenas get another chance to compete in the playoffs

PlatypusParticipantwhy in the hell would the raptors do that
0- Posted on: Wed, 07/21/2010 - 6:45am #359126

BishopParticipantThe Raptors need a go to guy besides AB and I’m sure Arenas wants to redeem his self and compete once again. Calderon is not the type of leader the Raptors need and his contract would allow the wizard to implant more veterans in the line up.
Lets take Artest for example: the joke’s on who now! don’t forget the fact that we’re talking about an athlete in his sport and not a man and his life style. The raptors lost their chance once in Michael Beasley because of the same school of thoughts in Chris Bosh sign and trade situation and this mentality don’t bring any championship to the table. I believe Arenas and Beasly could have been the Rodman or Artest to a Raptors championship caliber team.
Imagine the line up Raps would’ve had:
AB
Amir
Beasley
Derozan
ArenasWe need to stop trying the perfect man in every ball player and just enjoy the sport for what it is: BASKETBALL !!!!!!!

OhCanada-ParticipantOnce again…
Ontario Teacher Pension Plan owns 66% of Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment which owns the Toronto Raptors. Teachers would not want BC to bring Arenas, a well known criminal into this community to be a role model. Especially if its not going to result in wins anyways because Arenas is a ball hog, who doesnt play D and takes bad shots. Ive never liked Arenas even when he was money.

WizardofOzParticipantArenas isn’t a criminal and isn’t a bad person. He just made a bad decision as a teammate and a leader. What he did was wrong but he is trying to redeem his career and his career is kind of hanging by a thread with all the injuries and suspensions and the time he’s missed. So I’m sure he won’ make another bad decision like that again.

WizardofOzParticipantAnyway, I think they should trade Arenas. I used to love Arenas, but I just think the best thing right now for John Wall and the Wizards is to trade Gilbert Arenas. I thought that a backcourt with Wall and Arenas could work, but after watching SL, I don’t know how it’s going to work. With Wall’s play style, he has to have the ball in his hands and he commands everything on the floor, the same things Arenas did when he was playing PG. And whats Gilbert going to be, a catch-N-shoot player, I don’t think so. I think Arenas will stunt Wall’s growth if he stays in Washington. You would think Gil would take any role he can get because his career is hanging by a thread, but I just don’t know. Even though the owner and the GM are saying Gilbert is staying, I think he will be traded by the time of the trade deadline.

PlatypusParticipant(Not attacking you) you say trade Gilbert Arenas but for who? is there even a team who wants his baggage. yes it was just one thing but its making teams say no so what i wanna know is what are some of your trade ideas for gilbert and his horrible contract

WizardofOzParticipantGilbert Arenas and cash for Eddy Curry
This trade has been rumored to go down and the Wizards should follow through with it. Most teams don’t want Gilbert’s baggage but NY had a disappointing free agency and is kind of desperate to get another star. The cash makes the Knicks have enough money to sign Gilbert. For the Wizards this is good because Eddy Curry has an expiring contract and the Wizards would have a lot of money to spend in free agency next offseason.
Gilbert Arenas for Vince Carter
This trade was also rumored to go down. They have equal contracts, and can be traded straight up. Magic would want Gil because even with all the injuries and the Time he’s missed, he is still a very good player. He played in 32 games last season, and he played very well in those games. The magic might want him because they might have hope he can be the former superstar he used to be. Vince’s contract is expiring. With his expiring contract, the Wizards would have enough money to sign a max free agent next season and would have so much flexibility with their money.

Charlie SheenParticipantIf Arenas is traded he ends up in
Charlotte- Jordan would take a chance on him imagine, Jackson, Arenas and Wallace as a big 3
Orlando- Salary may be an issue but if they trade Carter to Washington they can make a run at Carmelo in 2011Those are the only 2 teams I see him going too crazy part is their both within the division

PlatypusParticipantWhat would the Knicks do with Felton?
What would the Magic do with Nelson?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/21/2010 - 4:56am #359078

WizardofOzParticipantThe Knicks could start Arenas over Felton or play Arenas at SG because NY next best SG is Kelenna Azubuike
The Magic would just start him at SG because they have no depth at that position and their next best SG is J.J. Redick.

PlatypusParticipantso the shooting guard being the prominate ball handler? i just cant see Orlando doing it because then they would have the 2 worst contracts in the league

ghettosermonParticipantAlthough Gilbert is not the best passer he’s a natural 1. I personally wouldn’t want him guarding SG’s which he will have to do with Wall. The reason he and Larry Hughes were so successful together was because Hughes could lock down 2 guards. I think Wall and Arenas could work offensively, but defensively it will be a struggle. Gil’s in his own division will have to guard Joe Johnson, Stephen Jackson, Vince Carter, and Dwayne Wade. It’s not ideal. Even if you switch off and have Al Thornton guarding those guys that Gil is going to have to match up with guys like LeBron, Gerald Wallace, etc. Even a Marvin Williams would just post him up. Gilbert and Wall actually could be great on the offensive end, defensively though it could be a problem. Wizards are gonna have to do a ton of work with team defense.
