thaprodigyParticipantI think Mark Cubans one of the few people (or only person) in the NBA with the guts to make a trade for Gilbert.

johnecoParticipantI think Arenas’ is probably the worst contract in the NBA right now.
I thought his contract was a really bad idea even when it was first signed and he was still at the top of his game.
After the injuries and the behavioral problems, it’s basically unmoveable. So anyone who thinks Dallas is giving up too little in the above scenarios is delusional. No GM is going to take on the risk of that contract without it being seriously one-sided in terms of talent – it’s the kind of thing you can lose your job over as a GM. If anything, I think the proposals above underestimate how bad Arenas’ contract is. But that said, I think Dallas is one of the few potential destinations; as a 2nd tier contender with a closing window of opportunity, they might be feeling the pressure to roll the dice.

dipt1982ParticipantGilbert is not worth either of those trades, Marion AND Terry, Hamilton AND Villanueva??? That’s just an insane idea, what has he proven over the past couple seasons to warrant giving up two of your best players for? If you want to give up half of your core for a guy who stays with questions about his character and his health, your a moron, not you personally, just any GM that would actually consider these deals…

PlatypusParticipantAs a Pistons fan there is no way we’d do this. only way is if it was expiring and its not close to that and Rips and Charlie V’s contract expire before Arenas contract so not happening
Dallas wouldnt do it because it would stunt Roddy B’s growth which they dont want because he is the future of the team

duhrant35ParticipantWhy would Orlando trade Lewis for Jamison?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/21/2010 - 5:51am #359100

PlatypusParticipantget rid of his contract so they dont have the 2 worst contracts in the league
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/21/2010 - 6:03am #359108

duhrant35ParticipantJamison has a bad contract and Lewis is younger and better. They have already committed to the luxury tax and winning now so although Lewis has a bad contract, they have committed to him and the rest of the team to win now.

PlatypusParticipantJamisons ends sooner and is less money and will play the same way as Lewis

WizardofOzParticipantGilbert Arenas and cash for Eddy Curry
This trade has been rumored to go down and the Wizards should follow through with it. Most teams don’t want Gilbert’s baggage but NY had a disappointing free agency and is kind of desperate to get another star. The cash makes the Knicks have enough money to sign Gilbert. For the Wizards this is good because Eddy Curry has an expiring contract and the Wizards would have a lot of money to spend in free agency next offseason.
Gilbert Arenas for Vince Carter
This trade was also rumored to go down. They have equal contracts, and can be traded straight up. Magic would want Gil because even with all the injuries and the Time he’s missed, he is still a very good player. He played in 32 games last season, and he played very well in those games. The magic might want him because they might have hope he can be the former superstar he used to be. Vince’s contract is expiring. With his expiring contract, the Wizards would have enough money to sign a max free agent next season and would have so much flexibility with their money

sheltwon3ParticipantHow are the trades I mentioned so terrible. Detroit is not too found of Charlie V and Hamilton and Gordan may not be a good fit and Hamilton does not appear to want to be there after Billups left.
I checked and Arenas contract is about the same length as Charlie V and just one year longer than Hamilton.
Detroit is not doing nothing in the East for some time now.
Washington would take that deal because they get quality players and get rid of Gil.
He was average close to 20 and 9 before those gun charges.
I doubt something like that happens again.
Also why would Orlando take on a longer contract for a player that plays the same position as Nelson
That was a rumor but I doubt Orlando really was going to do it.NY was smart and got Felton on two years, Arenas contract would have screwed Knicks over.
Dallas has a small window of opportunity and I would think they would do it to be a better team.
That first trade they don’t give up much and the second one they give up Jet but they still have BeaboisAlso Beaubois is a nice player but I don’t think he will ever be a point anytime soon. He is more like Lenandro Barbosa
