Finally got a chance to watch Giddey play against Nigeria and this dude is legit. The guy is the same size as Precious Achiuwa and the shot looks alot better than in his highlight films. He gets better elevation on it than before and has a higher release its night and day. I’ve got Giddey over Suggs in this draft and quite possibly over Barnes and Mobley as well. I think he should be considered in that 3-5 range as a 6’8 do it all PG.

Your definitely right imo. After seeing him matched up with players size and athleticism I’m used to I feel like he’s an elite prospect. I think he has a few more exhibitions if I’m not mistaken but they sat him out vs. USA. Smart lol.

I think that’s going to be his last game. We have one more exhibition, again against the USA so I don’t think he’ll play in that. Some of the comparisons I’m seeing for him, they’re comparing him to wings, or secondary ball handling options. He’s a true floor general. Whether he’s better than Suggs, I don’t know, but he’s definitely on par at least. Youngest player in NBL history to get a triple double, breaking LaMelo’s record. He’s gonna be good.

Giddey is a very good all around player but he has no star potential like Suggs.

I think he’s right there with Suggs. Hes the better ball handler and playmaker and has almost half a foot of height on him. I see Suggs as a SG and think he’s better off in that Dwayne Wade combo role. Theres zero chance the Warriors pass on Giddey imo if they are planning to keep the pick.

So we have a consensus top 5 for a long time. Then Scottie Barnes makes there a top 6. Is Giddey in the mix… as in is there now a top 7??? Suggs, Giddey, Barnes, Kuminga to go along with Cunningham, Green, and Mobley? Is pick 8 where the draft now begins? Loaded draft for sure.

Well I guess yeah. To add to that I think Jalen Johnson is better than Kuminga and Cam Thomas could be the best scorer in the draft. Its just very deep.

I like Jalen Johnson a lot too. Not sure NBA teams are as high on him as us though, but he could be better than Kuminga. Cam Thomas is an interesting prospect. I like him at least as much as Bouknight… who generally gets more love… Thomas is younger and a complete scorer. Last year’s class was considered deep. This year’s class is even more deep.

GSW are not keeping their picks but in case they did I really doubt they would take Giddey.. another player that needs the ball in his hands, can’t shoot with consistency and not a great defender, plus he’s 18… no way they pick him… Instead I think the Warriors would consider taking someone like Jalen Johnson, another all around player but very athletic, can protect the rim and can actually shoot with efficiency, or if not they might consider D.Mitchell or M.Moody and with pick 14 I think they go for Kispert or Garuba depending on who they take with 7th pick.

You sound as if you think Giddey is a terrible shooter. As a 17yo playing in an established league, when he came in, obviously he wasn’t a great shooter. There was a whole world of adjustment he needed to make as a young kid playing in a mans league. But he got progressively better as the season went on. Giddey shot around 29% from 3 for his lone season. As the only relevant comparison, LaMelo shot something like 1-16 in his first few games in the NBL. Wanna know what he shot overall in his NBL career? 25%. In the NBA, LaMelo was able to increase that by 10%. Now I’m not saying Giddey will do the same, but the narrative that he’s an inconsistent shooter is a little off to me. He’s a developing shooter with good mechanics. Learning from Steph and Klay would be great for his development. I can’t see GS passing on Giddey if he’s there at 7.

What I am saying is that the Warriors if they were to keep the pick, they don’t need an 18yo kid to develope and lear from Klay and Curry, they need someone who can contribute since day 1 and in my opinion Giddey is far from that, especially in the things Warriors need wich are shooting and defense.

I could make a strong argument that aside from Cunningham Giddey is the most NBA ready prospect. The way the game is officiated in the NBA caters to Guard play. Everyone knows this but you have to really understand what that means. It means players with guard skills will have an easier time adapting to this league. The Australian league is playing by the real basketball rules, its alot tougher and doesn’t allow everyone to be James Harden. Giddey is gonna have a Tyrese Haliburton like year in the NBA as a rookie.
