zcnumerounoParticipantWow. Just wow.
This kid is just 21 years of age and just dominated the Cavs, and led the Bucks to a convincing victory. Giannis can really do it all (except shoot consistently, but does he even need to really?). He’s the Bucks de-facto point guard and rim protector. That’s absolutely insane.
Tonight, he scored 34 points on 13-19 (68.4%) from the field & 1/2 from behind the arc, while grabbing 12 rebounds, dishing 5 assists, nabbing 5 steals and rejecting 2 shots along the way. Talk about filling a state sheet.
For the season, he averages 22 PPG (51/19/79), 8.3 RPG, 6 APG, and about 2 SPG and 2 BPG.
If he keeps playing like this, which he’ll have to if the Bucks want to make some noise, I don’t see why he shouldn’t be in the MVP conversation, with the stats he’s put up, plus with how he’s carried this Bucks team without perennially-underrated K-Midd.
BTW, anyone else see Thon Maker cross over Birdman and still a three in his face? Gold.

Hype MachineBirdman just got ankle broken out of the league.
Time to give Thon Maker more minutes. Hes like a stockpile of length. Bucks already have so much.
I’d like to see Antetokoumpo and Maker ballhandling drills. Thats a project for Watching25 to work on

BasterdInABasketParticipantAbsolute freak. Seems every game he has a few plays where he drives and looks like he’ll have a tough contested shot and his ridiculous strides and wingspan turns into an uncontested layup or dunk. Important thing is he ALWAYS competes to and looks like he has a bit of a mean streak to him already at 21. By the end of the year if they can work Middleton into the lineup without taking the ball out of Giannis’s hands they could potentially be a tough out in the playoffs if they get in.

NickWayne87ParticipantI was at the game. Giannis effin MURDERED it tonight my god. My girl who doesn’t really watch or follow basketball and was slobbering over the fact that we saw LeBron in person even noticed that "Damn that greek freak guy is REALLY GOOD." The Cavs came out guns blazing and LeBron had a good first quarter but they seemed to take their foot off the gas and quit far too early. The Bucks just wanted this game more. Mike Beasley even looked good out there with his funky and methodical shooting form. Jarbari looked solid and you could see the potential there for him to be GREAT he just needs more repititions. Giannis just got to the rim at will and did whatever the hell he wanted out there.

MatosParticipantThis guy is a "reliable jumpshot" away from being an elite NBA player in this league. And he’s 21. Mind-boggling.

HitsterParticipantAll those teamws who passed on him in 2013 must be kicking themselves now and it wasn’t even a particularly loaded draft. Plus teams like Dallas and Boston which are comsidered to have good Front Offices both passed on him.
I wonder if he has stopped growing now too!
Also he is not even 22 years old yet and has only been playing as point forward for about a year. The more Jason Kidd works with him the better he’ll get especially if he can develop a decent 3 point range.
Maker is always fun to watch making his cameos too but he does need to play more even if they are garbage minutes.

markfitz14Participantbut… He would have to get above 25 ppg to get the MVP and also get to the playoffs.

khaled_a_dParticipant@Hitster
Mavs actually had him as their top choice on the board (well we gave promise to Saric but he opted out of the draft,MCW was a priority had he fallen.but from available players Giannis was our top choice) and Donnie was all for taking him,Cuban interfered and decided that saving few millions for free agency is far more important.
He admitted that mistake, but this really hurts for a Mavs fan, every Mavs discussion board you will find someone mentioning that decision on a daily basis as an example of how bad our decision making regarding the draft.
Trading down costed us the chance in either greek freak or Schroeder and then we passed on Gobert & Dieng for Larkin.
Let’s hope we learned from our mistakes and don’t trade a top 5 pick this year for a cap space and couple of second rounders 😀0 - AuthorPosts
