Im watching the D-league all star game right now and Gerald Green is reall impressing me right now.

It looks as if he playing on a 8 foot goal when he dunks ,he also has a underrated jump shot.I know its still a all star game with no D but I have also seen Green play when he was on Mavs(my local and favorite team) so I watched him played and I really thought he was gonna become a starter on the Mavs because he was contributing so much to the team then out of no were he was just gone.

He is still only 26 and I honestly still think he can become a starter in the league, and a good one.

He is basically Terrence Ross but better IMO,He has the hops and the 3 point shot but Green is more experienced and I think still devolping skills(I also read that he first started playing basketball as a freshmen in highschool)

I wish he could come back to the Mavs but we are pretty stacked at the 2 and 3 with Terry,Carter,West,Jones, and Odom. But if we go for a dump of salary to get Howard and Williams.Green would be a great cheap pickup.

So if im a team I would sighn him right now ,because he is basically a top 10 pick without the wait and money.

What do you mean who is this guy?! Gerald Green was drafted soley on his ability to jump. All he could do was jump and better then almost anyone.

Green was set to go to Oklahoma State until the McDonalds All American game in which hit six 3’s and won the dunk contest. Scouts started raving about him so he skipped okstate and was a bust in the NBA for most part bouncing around the league for a  few years and playing in China.  I watched him play in person for the D-Fenders in January and he had 26 and looked like he belonged in the league, not the D-league.

His handles are suspect and he’s never been known to play much defense. One year in college would have done him well in that aspect.

I definitely think someone should pick him up. He’s a talented scorer.

Clippers need to pick him up if they have no trades to upgrade the SG position…put him on a wing with CP3 and watch out
His 3pt shot and Hops fit in perfectly in LobAngeles

Now its time the T-Wolves use those draftees from years back.  Bring in Green/McCants for a 10 day contract and lets see if they can fill that sickening void @ SG.  Maybe bring in Wes Johnson 5 years from now as well.

But’s it’s pretty weird how he’s so beastly outside the NBA (China/D-League), but he’s so mediocre in the NBA.

Green was drafted by Celtics, he was in the Garnett trade.

I’ve always thought that Gerald Green is every bit as talented as DeMar DeRozan. Seriously! Demar’s handles are not that much better than Green’s. Demar only seems to be a "good" player because he gets lots of room for errors on the craptors. (seriously, what other team in the NBA can afford to RELY on a shooting guard with DeRozan’s weak handles in their offense?).

If DeRozan can be the second option on the Raptors, Green can at least be a rotation player on the… Bobcats?… Pistons?… Hornets?

If Green was expected to JUST slash and hit 18 foot jumpers, he’ll thrive on a second unit somewhere.

He is an incredible athlete, haven’t seen him play for awhile though. If his skills have indeed developed there is absolutely no reason for him to be playing in the D-league anymore. A team will give him another chance soon, personally I hope he takes advantage of it.

I’d say Green is even a more fluid athlete than DeRozan but he hasn’t seemed to spent much time in the weight room, when I saw him play last month he looked thin without much muscle at all.

one of the biggest knocks on green was how weak he is, at least last time i saw him with the lakers. I mean he didnt play through any kind of contact which meant if he wasnt getting to the rim clean, he wasnt a strong driver. It also impacted him playing through screens on defense and just overall he was afraid of contact. mentioning comparisons with derozan and terrance ross, but those guys can actually get physical.

    ****My bad

Totally forgot about him actually playing 4 the celtics for a bit there.  My mind was thinking the pick was traded to Minny.

Nonetheless, my comment still works as they were nba draftees from years’ past.

Green actually averaged over 10ppg his 2nd year out of high school for the Celtics and provided highlight dunks and was also a 3 point threat.  I thought he was destined for stardom.  Then the Minny trade came and Green was actually a big piece to that trade.  Then I don’t know what happen.

DDR is a good comparison tho Green is actually a better shooter and every bit the dunker.

I think he got in trouble with a failed drug test for weed or somethign tho maybe thats why he’s being blackballed from the league.  But he certainly has the talent to play in the league.  I thought he was gonna become just like JR. Smith became.

Green was a victim of circumstance and chance.  If he would have stayed in Boston, he would have probably stayed in the league.  He got traded and more than likely did not pick up on the plays quick because of his low basketball IQ.  He also is not a strong defender so he wound up not getting time.  A team that drafts you tends to favor you.  Green did not go anywhere where a coach really like him enough.  The Lin situation and other situations show you that NBA scouts and Gms are not really good. There has probably been many players who went to the wrong team are on now out of the league.

You can kind of see signs like that with Turner but he is so talented that he at least looks like and NBA player.  Turner would be a starter on most teams and put up better than Tyreke’s all around rookie numbers but he is stuck on a team that is not a good fit of him.

DeRozan is talented but is on the right team for him to grow because Toronto really has no one.  Can you imagine the points, OJ Mayo or Beasley would average if they were in Toronto instead.  I remember when Love could not get off the bench and then when he did he was basically an All star.  I agree he probably improved but to go from a bum to an All Star in one year does not seems right.  He had to be pretty close when he was on the bench but he did not get enough minutes to show it.

The players in the NBA who succeed tend to be in great situations.  John Wall would look better if he had a better team.  I remember people let Rondo grow as a players mainly because he had the big 3.  There was times because of his lack of shooting he did not play in the 4th quarter of key games.  Now that he has gotten better as a scorer that is not the case.  Rose when he came in needed work for the perimeter and got it, he also had a better team than Wall though.  I think Wall will look better when he get better and more experience teammates.

You guys have any clue what your talking about or are you just making up opinionated facts? Derozan being compared to Gerald Green one of the boiggest busts multiple times over?  I agree that Derozan needs to improve his handles but it isnt like he tries to overutilize his handles and breakdown opponents with his dribble, he accepts his limitations and plays within his skills. The expectations of Derozan to become a 20-ppg player this year while improving his handle and shot did not come through. He did improve his shot although his handle is still mediocre yet he plays within his skills like I said. Derozan is still learning about what type of impact he can really make and how to aggressively use his skills to the full advantage consistantly. some games he focuses on getting in the paint and to the line, some games he focuses on the midrange game, and some games he bombs threes. When he puts that package together he will be a very dangerous threat.

I have no reason to doubt Derozan will improve his handle, he improves his game every year and although the stats dont reflect on this he has gotten alot better this year as well. Derozans flaws are not mainly his dribbling this site for some reason has that blown out of proportion. His flaws are two things he is completely capable of contributing in, rebounding and playmaking. Derozans desire for loose balls can be compared to that of Brook Lopez, or Andrea Bargnani its horrible. He is also a skilles passer yet does not make the extra pass and he needs to be held accountable before he can be allowed to be a first option.

He will leave Toronto and become a star somewhere else after we develop him if BC cant get a winning team on the floor sometime soon. Same old annoying story.
