SlickBouncePassParticipantI’d only seen highlights I didn’t get a chance to see Fultz play a game. Happy I finally got to even though it was a blowout from the start.
Fultz is a smooth criminal on offense. Nasty from outside and a great stroke. Fluid, drives to the rim with ease. He has a very nice NBA body with strong legs, but he does have some concerns.
On man defense, I see other guards getting past him and he falls asleep at times. He also has nice athleticism but I wonder if he has the agility and length to optimally get buckets on drives to the hole. I mean, he GETS BUCKETS, but its not easy for him to contort his body around bigs and score easy in the paint like it is for some others in this draft, like Josh Jackson.
I don’t know how much of a problem the spacing will be in the NBA y’all can tell me better. But his team Washington STINKS. Wow they are bad every time I Just want to watch Fultz do something and cringe when others clank shots.
Fultz looks to be a great prospect. But he is a guard as is Josh Jackson to me. Josh Jackson is unquestionably a better defender. He makes more plays on defense due to his wingspan strength and athleticism. Due to his length and strength, Jackson also scores much easier in the paint. Fultz definitely has the better shot of the two, and Fultz can score from anywhere.
I love Fultz as a prospect, but right now I’d go Jackson. Again, something about Fultz defense I dont’ like, and Fultz difficulty to score easy around the rim facing bigs. He’s just not as long or crafty as like an Iverson or Boston Isiah Thomas. Jackson doesn’t have the shot, but Jackson is a force on defense and can score and pass in multiple ways.
Its not fair to Fultz because his team defienitley sucks, but I like Josh Jackson, thought you can’t go wrong with either. I prefer Jackson due to non-lazy defense.
Fultz also isn’t having much of an impact at making others around him better. He’s a great scorer but that reminds me of Carmelo and Kyrie Irving. Great players do special things to uplift the spirit of others around them and force them to do great things too, like Mike.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantI wouldnt compare Jackson and Fultz, Jackson is clearly a wing whereas Fultz is possibly a point, bare minimum a combo guard/playmaking 2 ala James Hardens role

binetParticipantJackson won’t go #1. He is probably the safest pick, but is a high floor low ceiling guy (a true high floor though, not the typical High Floor – Low Ceiling guy we are used to talk about who are just future D-Leaguers…).
He is compared to Andrew Wiggins by many but he clearly is different. Athletically, he is not nearly as good as Wiggins imo, Jackson is a better than avg athlete but not the best athlete at the next level. I also think Wiggins was a project in many aspects of his game, including defense, whereas Jackson is ready to contribute on the defensive end and seem to know way better where to position himself on the court. With his decision making and passing ability and promising yet unrefined game offensively with somewhat a lack of smoothness in ballhandling and shot creation, I think he projects more as a Nic Batum kind of guy.
On the plus side, Nic Batum is a very solid NBA player and I think Jackson’s floor is very close to Batum’s level. Still, Jackson is not the franchise player, go-to-guy mold. And that’s what every team that will draft in the top 4 or so will look for in this deep draft. Fultz could very well be a bust and has a lower floor, but seems to be one who could be that kind of franchise player. With even more bust potential, Ball also fits that category of potential franchise player.

SlickBouncePassParticipantFor ateam like the Sixers that already has big men and a point forward who will be the best passer in the league, you need someone to play off the two of them,
That guy has to be able to collapse defenses with dribble drive and get his own shot. Nik Stauskas does this for them but Nik Stauskas is no James Harden. I actually think Fultz compared to James Harden is possible, the only difference being that Harden is elite in his ability to get shots off in the paint. Fultz is smooth, no denying that I am just curious about his defense and his ability to finish "easy" in the paint like Harden.
But for the Sixers both Jackson and Fultz give you that potential of dribble drive and the ability to play off of Simmons and Embiid. Jackson is just an excellent defender both man and open space.
I know Jackson "projects" as a wing, but its positionless basketball, the guy the Sixers bring in will have the assignment of being a great defender (their current defenders McConnell Stauskas Thompson etc are putrid), and shooting from the outside btu also dribble driving.
You get Fultz, you have your smooth shooter but are somewhat weak at defense, maybe PGs aren’t needed to play defense. Also likely if Sixers pick 1 or 2, a good PG may be available at 10 with the LAL pick, like Ntilinka or Fox.
You get Jackson, you get a world class defender with an okay shot but an easier finisher at the rim, who can also make the right pass and has a high IQ.
Disagree about Jackson’s athleticism. He doesn’t fully showcase himself there is a lot of action potential left when he makes his moves. The guy is a beast.
Also, Tatum is overrated. THe guy has the look and the ability, but he always comes up soft. Never makes those shots that "look" pretty. Reminds me of an Allen Houston type, model baller, just doesn’t have the it factor.
No way I’d take Jason Tatum over Jackson right now. Need the Sixers to tank one last time.
The idea of Josh Jackson and Deaaron Fox or Ntilinka with Simmons and Embiid is too good.
This is a great draft, this is the perfect year the Lakers pick will convert!!!
