With the draft over and lottery teams really not expected to land a franchise altering player, what team or teams do you guy think make the playoffs thus year( excluding the suns) and why and what teams you have falling out of the playoffs

My gut is telling me Milwaukee. Mainly because they play in the weak eastern conference. If they can stay healthy I think Jabari will lead them into the playoff in year one. What say you!

Cavs, Celtics, and the Lakers all should have a good shot.  Milwaukee will be closer than alot of people think.  If Cleveland doesn’t make it this year….well, I don’t know, just been saying it for 3 years…

The Lakers don’t have a snowballs chance in hell to make the playoffs. The west is too strong and the Lakers are going to swing and miss on big free agents and will overpay for decent players like Hayward, Monroe, Ariza. Probably a 10th seed team at best.

Well, they drafted his favorite player. And the guy he says will be better than Embiid…..Julius Randle.  Straight up Kentucky nut rider.  Oh and go figure, he thinks the Celtics will make it….who’d they draft?  Oh yeah, James Young, another Kentucky player.  Who woulda thought.  It’s too bad he fell off the map after the championship game for a few weeks, would have been nice to hear his thoughts on the game.

          Wow! U mad..lol.

My comment has nothing to do with UK. The Lakers will likely add a good free agent and have Kobe, Pau, Nash, Randle, and a couple solid signings. They can most definitely be in the playoffs. Also, the Celtics are getting a healthy Rondo back with a couple good rookies and an improving front court. They could also realistically make the playoffs especially in the east and if they make a deal for Love.

And for the last time, Yes, I am high on Randle but I am also high on Embiid. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit, and it shouldn’t anybody, to see Randle possibly have a better career. Is this a guarantee from me… no.

Memphis and Brooklyn all fall out of the playoffs. Denver makes the jump, along with Cleveland.

Memphis has had the same team for a while and they haven’t improved since then. They don’t need to blow it up, but they do need to make some smart changes. Perimeter shooting should be on top of their list, along with acquiring a young big for the future.

Brooklyn keeps aging without getting better. Pierce probably won’t be on the team, so there goes most of your points. Deron Williams hasn’t played well since he left Utah. And Brook Lopez seems to have a never-ending battle with injuries. Unless Kevin Garnett miraculously is revived to his Boston self, they will be paying for a big man that is just waiting to retire.

The Nuggets are almost 3 deep at every position, so they shouldn’t have any trouble if injuries arise this next year. They need to believe in the system to make it work, but that shouldn’t be a problem. The Nuggets haven’t changed much in recent years, so chemistry shouldn’t be a problem. The Cavs have som work to do, but are extremely talented. They need a rim protector, but it shouldn’t be too hard to find someone willing to trade one, or sign one in free agency.

In theory, the Kings and the Pistons just have too much talent to not make it.  I think the Pistons have a very good chance of returning to the playoffs, and the Kings have an ok chance.  You also have to like the Suns as a team that can get over the hump.

What talent to do the Pistons have besides Drummond. They have 3 solid players that play 2 positions. KCP is a bench player at best and Jennings is puts up me first numbers from a position that requires you make veryone else better. I expect the Pistons to actually be worst this year.

Well, I was assuming they keep Monroe, who I’m really big on, so you have a frontcourt of Drummond and Monroe and maybe Josh Smith, which, under Van Gundy’s guidance, could potentially not be a mess, you have a still-very-talented Brandon Jennings, you have Rodney Stuckey, who’s pretty effective, and you have KCP, who I think will be a very good complementary scorer and a good wing defender, as well

You can not play Drummond and Monroe at the same time, stuckey is a FA. That leaves Smith and Jennings aside from an ocassional dunk Smith is Turrible just Turrible and Jennings is a guy who puts numbers up but never Wins. Im not sure wht you saw in KCP but he does little of everytghign but nothing special, he is a bench player at his best.

I had Milwaukee in the playoffs and Brooklyn out befor this Jason Kidd thing. I think he’s a decent coach but nothing special. I’m not mad at him for bailing on the old nets befor they’re out of the playoff withottle young talent and a few draft choices. So from that standpoint I see why Kidd did whatever he did.

A lot of people are high on the kings although they have the talent I think this team still had to jell together. I don’t think there quite there yet.

I don’t see much change happening in the west playoff picture. Dallas should be better so I guess that leaves Memphis out if a team was to move up grab the 8th spot in the west where it takes 50+ wins to get in

    Nice thread…
In the East I like the Pistons and Cavs to make it in place of the Nets and Hawks.
Pistons will be much tougher to beat next season under Stan Van Gundy.
Cavs will unleash a much better offence and likely add to their squad via FA.
Nets are changing coaches and will likely see a few players leave without the ability to sign any decent FA’s.
Hawks will give the 8th seed a run right up to the end but ultimately just fall short.

In the West I don’t think there will be too much change, Spurs, OKC, Clippers, Rockets, Blazers and Warriors should all be locks.  The final 2 spots would come down to Memphis, Dallas, Phoenix, New Orleans, Sacramento and Denver.
Memphis would be the pick of the bunch with a settled roster and one of the best defences in the league.
The last spot probably comes down to who makes the best improvements via FA.  With cash to spend and the best coach I’m going with Phoenix.
Would love to see New Orleans or Sacramento make it but the West is just so loaded!

Gonna be fun when the Suns make the playoffs and the Lakers suck again but not bad enough to keep their pick.

About 20 comments and not one mention for the Knicks? Where did all the Knicks fans go?

They could make a case in a weak East. Gasol has recieved interest from NY and Phil Jackson has made some great decisions already since being in charge. They still have JR Smith who can score with the best of them and Stat/Bargnani. Maybe with Melo gone some of these guys step up and they play a team type game to a playoff position.

They havent even lost Melo yet either.

I dont necessarily believe this will happen, although in such a weak coonference dont count out the Knicks.
