jaycee24ParticipantJust curious as to what Lance Stephenson might get this year in free agency. My guess is a team could offer up to 8 or 9 million but idk it seems hard to gauge the SG market. Also what might a Gordon Heyward get? Rodney Stuckey? Evan Turner? Will Nick Young opt out?

jaycee24ParticipantI don’t see him getting more than 6 million and that’s a stretch imo….which actually could wind up being a steal

ThunderHog35ParticipantThabo Sefolosha is also a free agent.
I think Stephenson and Hayward will both get 10-12 mil thrown at them. Particularly Hayward, if Boston is as interested as they seem to be.
I could see Turner and Bradley getting in 6-8 range, but I’m sure someone will try to overpay both.

natevalParticipantBradley reportly turned down 4 years 24 million. It was being reported at the time that he was looking for 8 million a year. If he gets 8 million what s Lance and Hayward worth, I like Lance and Hayward a lot more

KHAM83ParticipantWhen it comes to overpaying these guys, I’m having a hard time trying to figure out who exactly will do this. Boston and Heyward we are all assuming, but who out there will really be willing to give Turner 10+ million, and Bradley, an undersized 2 without a great jumper 8 million?

HitsterParticipantLast year the likes of Evans and Jennings only got $25 million over 3 years, Ellis got $30 million over 3 years. Chicago only offered Luol Deng the same although he is an SF, you could compare his salary fairly well to an SG might get.
Stephenson has been paid well below what he is worth and unlike Evan Turner isn’t coming off a generous rookie deal so would reasonably be looking for the best deal he can get. He would look at George Hill on $8 million a year and reasonably assume that he is as good or more likely a better player than him. So I’d think that $9 to 10 million a year would be fair value for him.
However if he took $9 million a year that would put the Pacers on $75 million nearly on the cap for 9 or 10 players and that is before any renewal for Danny Grainger or an extra bench veteran or two. The Pacers are challenging but they are not as rich as the likes of some of the very big teams so may need to keep an eye on the cap and they are only 15th in attendances although that has improved hugely and they are only 1,100 below max capacity on their average at the moment.
They also have to keep in find that Roy Hibbert has a player option in 2015 so if he opts out then a load of teams will throw max deals at him, so keeping everyone happy will be hard for the Pacers front office. Luckily in Larry Bird and Kevin Pritchard they have two guys who know the NBA inside out and who I’d back to sort out the cap issue.
One idea could be to back load Stephenson’s deal for when David West’s contract expires in 2016. I’d assume that West will opt in for $12.6 million in 2015/16 unless there the Pacers offer him an extra year and spread his salary a bit.

jaycee24ParticipantThat’s what I’m saying. Lance is nice in Indiana but will he provide what you’d hope from a 10 million dollar player? I think given the right situation I actually think he could be well worth that but it would take the perfect situation. Would Milwaukee offer him 10 mill? Doubt it. Utah? highly doubt it. Detroit could be a possibility but I doubt that too. I just don’t think there’s going to be enough demand (unfortunately for these guys) to name their price. I could see Bradley actually making a comparable salary to Heyward and Stephenson. As for Thabo I see him making no more than 3 mill he’s very valuable but his value also comes with a low price tag in todays CBA

jaycee24ParticipantAnd I need some clarification…it’s my understanding that you can only offer a free agent, whether restricted or not, money you have above the cap. If that’s the case off the top of my head that would leave Indy with like 8 mill to offer and that’s before you include that PG’s extension salary kicks in next year…so unless there’s a loophole in what teams can offer there’s almost no way they could retain him

mplsrawkusParticipanthe’s already on the pacer roster so they can sign him and go over the cap….if he signed with another team, they would have to be under the cap. they do that to give teams a better chance to re-sign there own players.

r377ParticipantJust wondering if the Hawks will be looking to sign a SG in the offseason ?
They are under salary cap. Have Korver at 3 Milsap at 4 and Horford at 5. Just need a backcourt mate for Teague. I could at least seeing them looking at Sefolosha.
