I’m not really a Jayhawk fan but I have a hard time not enjoying watching Mason play this year.  Admittedly, I’ve only watch the some of the high profile games, but he has always been exciting and brought energy and toughness to the team.  Reminds me a bit of Tyus Jones a couple years ago.  If you’ve watched him more and completely disagree, let me know.

Anyone else excited watching this kid play?  He could be a decent bench player in the NBA right?

I agree he is really an exciting NCAA player… Anyway i don’t bet on a bright NBA future… may be a bench / role player, but nothing more.

Mason is a fearless, tough as nails guard with a knack for getting in the paint and drawing fouls. Hes a great college player who is a joy to watch. He is not Kansas’s most talented player by a longshot, but is definitely the guy who they would want with the ball in his hands with the game on the line.

As far as his NBA prospects idk. He is undersized and not really a true pg so he’d definitely be facing an uphill battle. Plus he is only a decent but not great outside shooter.

Mason is probably an undrafted player, but I think his style of play is really conducive to the NBA’s increased pace and more fluid guard lineups (rather than the traditional PG and SG) being used together all the time.

He’s an excellent ball handler with great end to end speed, and is an explosive athlete who throws down in game dunks despite being 5’11’. His size will definitely be a disadvantage in the NBA, but this summer he actually measured out bigger than I expected, where he’s just a tad under 6′ in shoes, and has a decent wingspan.

I definitely think he can be a reserve in the NBA. He’ll probably have to go the hard route, of Summer League > Preseason > D-League > Call Up, but I think he’s got a solid shot of sticking in the league. With player development being more and more a thing, and tons of NBA guys having D-League experience now, the likelihood of a team investing a draft pick on such a small player are slim, but I like Frank, he’s tough as nails too.
