I was looking through the mock drafts, and noticed Frank Kaminsky was not listed in either this year or next years. Now, I realize this year was out of the question. But him being left off next years surprised me. He’s got a very unique skill set and has NBA level traits. I’m not even saying he should be a first rounder. However, I think he is very worthy of a high-mid second round choice next year. Thoughts? Things he needs to work on? Thanks guys!

If Jon Leuer can be a second round pick, Frank the Tank no doubt can be as well.

He can score from anywhere on the floor and has an easy smooth stroke that makes me believe he’ll be able to hit from NBA range. He’s shooting 52/38/79 this season, which is very impressive for a 7′. He’s a fairly good shot blocker averaging 1.7 this year. Seems to be a solid athlete for his size.

As far as things he needs to work on, he needs to add a little muscle that way he can hold his own in the post a little better. He’s listed at 7′ 234, so it would be nice to see him get up to around 245 so he can battle down low with players in the NBA and not get pushed around. At 7′ I feel like he should also be a little better of a rebounder, averaging 6.4. However he’s out on the perimeter a lot on offense, so that might contribute to that. Offensively, he’s going to do most of his damage on the perimeter, but it wouldn’t hurt if he worked on his low post moves a little more.

Overall, I think he’s arguably a better pro prospect than any of the big men we’ve had come out of Wisconsin in a while.

Frank may be a decent option in the late 2nd, or as a free agent, but I don’t think he’ll have the staying power of Leuer, because he can’t run and jump like he can.

I saw him play in High School multiple times (Lisle, IL) and he was the third best player on a decent team his senior year.  I was very skeptical that he would ever see the floor for the Badgers.  Wow was I wrong.  He is really a solid post player with excellent post moves and very good range for a big.  As Joe pointed out, he is dreadfully slow and he will really struggle to defend at the NBA level.  Brian Butch had a defensive knack (I think it is a natural timing thing) that Frank lacks.  In any event, the Badgers are lucky to have him.

 Wow, great points being made all around. See I tend to agree that he is quite slow in his movments. However, I do think he’s a very intelligent player, which will help him if he can stay one step ahead (no pun intended.) Also, not saying he’ll be a starting NBA center but I think he could be in the league for a few years no doubt.

Kaminsky continues to score and defend picks that are considered better then him. He scored 28 points on Aaron Gordan and Kaleb Tarczewsski. He scored 28 points on Adrian Payne and the backups from Michigan State. He’s scored 19 points blocked 6 shots against Baylor…Austin 7’1, Jefferson 6′ 10″, and other long armed, lanky players at Baylor. Kaminsky scored 43 points against another 7’0 draft pick…Alec Brown. He beat up the front line of Michigan, Iowa, and Purdue’s 7’1″ player. He’s a top 15 pick next year. If he works on his foot quickness, and jumping I see no issues with him being effective in the NBA. The post game is obsolete in the nba……who’s left? Serge Ibaka, Tim Duncan, Pau Gasol, Marc Gasol, Bogut, Gortat, Howard, Chandler? How many of those guys are Shaq’s, Robinsons, Ewing, or Olajuwon. Heck no!!!!! If he works on his speed, quickness, and jumping….he’ll be a steal in the draft. This kid is a true talent. He doesn’t need to add wait…just strength.
