valentinei read this before a month ago from bosh but now watching nba coast to coast chris bosh has said once again he will not go to a team where he isnt the number one option. he said he will not be a number 2 option because he feels he is a number one and a team should be built around him (paraphrasing from both times he has commented about this). his is the main reason i dont see him leaving or teaming up with wade, bron

Csharp3410ParticipantCome to Chicago then!!!!! You’ll be the man there…with a great sidekick in 21 year old D Rose….that would be a deadly pick and roll duo.

NYKnumba3Participantthats why knicks are perfect place for bosh.Thier not signing LBJ(i think cavs win ring so he stays) wade goes to chi town that leaves bosh as only superstar left aside from jj but i dont want him on the knicks amare and boozer are stars but not superstar. if your knicks you get bosh as number one option and get rudy gay.hes perfect number 2 option. gallo at the 2 and fill up c and pg with the money not used for a superstar. this cud make bosh very pleased and set for nice playoffs run

JNixonParticipantHe sounds like a guy that doesn’t care about winning. He needs to be a compliment to another guy to get a championship more than likely. I think Chicago, New York if they get a good player, or a team like Miami would be good for him.

nbeardstallion1ParticipantChris Bosh is one of those guys, that 4 years from now, people will be saying that he was not worth the max money. His stats are somewhat empty. If he is so great then why does Toronto underachieve each year. Of late the Raptors are playing well, but it is mainly because Hedo has finally blended in as part of the offensive flow each game. Bosh is a great NBA player, but he is not worth a max deal, though he’ll probably get one. Kobe, lebron, mellow, and maybe D-wade are worth max money. But look back over the past 10 years and check how many guys have actually played well over the life of a max deal. Most of the guys get old and slow down by years 6 and 7. Kobe is the only guy that I’ve ever seen improve and/or mature and come out relatively healthy in the last year of a max deal.

purpleFROGParticipanthe should go to Dallas, he would be the number one option in a few years.

BiggysmallsParticipantWhile I do agree with Bosh that he is talented enough to be the foundation of a team and can be the number 1 guy, I find it odd that he would say those kind of things. From what I have seen and heard before these statements, Bosh seemed like a classy guy and a team leader.
After this kind of word from him, Chicago instantly comes to mind as a perfect situation because they need a post scorer, another rebounder with Noah, and a legit number 1 guy. Rose lovers will rip me here cuz they say he is the number 1 guy but how many teams lately have won a championship with a PG as their NUMBER 1 option? I cant remember any, but every team that did win had at least 1 really good big guy. Rose in my opinion could be a sensational number 2 guy and that tandem would be an amazing building block for a long time. On top of those two, they have alot of solid role players who would fit in nicely.
Whoever doesnt think Bosh isnt worth a max deal is a fool. Bosh is the best PF in the NBA. When you are the best at your position, you probably deserve to be paid like it.
The argument that players usually dont play well over an entire max contract is a good point…So why give anybody a max deal then? Max contracts are usually at least 5 years…thats a long time to maintain a max level of play, on top of that players usually have to play a long time at a really high level even to get that contract. So a letdown is natural.
While I do think his comments are a bit odd and hes coming off as selfish, FA is a long way away and alot of opinions can change. IF he does want to be the Alpha Dog, Chicago would be a perfect fit absolutely.

canesboy6ParticipantThats who end’s up getting him, me thinks. Del Negro is a bum, he needs to get out, but D-Rose is a very solid piece and the bulls are a sometimes well run organization. If he could be the number one option on a perennial playoff team in a big market, I’d say thats pretty good for his career right now.

knicks82ParticipantWhos gonna be the coach? THats the big ? with some of these teams that will have cap space. I mean New Jersey has Kiki Vandeweigh, Chicago with Vinny Del Negro, Miami with Erik Spoelstra. Those guys havent proved to be worth a damn as a coach. Mike Dantoni is the only one with a proven track record as a head coach, and I think that gives the Knicks a slight advantage over these other teams as far as attracting free agents.

SwatLakeCityParticipantI agree with nbeardstallion and rtbt full heartedly. Bosh probably will get paid for too much. I think Bosh will actually stay in Toronto, although the knicks and the bulls will fight hard for him. Toronto is not a bad team this year. If i am not mistaken they are in the Playoff race in the east. The raptors have not made the playoffs in a long time, which is why Bosh was thinking about leaving last year. (I think the last time they made the playoffs was with Vince Carter… YIKES) He just wants them to contend. He is already the #1 option in Toronto so he should be happy there. Besides he is not the best PF in the NBA biggysmalls. I give those props to Amare. He’s bigger, leaner and meaner. He can shoot better from the outside then Bosh can, and he is a much better pick and roll player. Chicago should go for him instead of Bosh.

rtbtParticipantI think nbeardstallion1 was essentially right when he pointed out that most of the big money guys are overpaid with these insane salaries. As for Chris Bosch, I agree with nbeardstallion1, he’s an excellent player, but he isn’t a super star that will suddenly change the fortunes of your team into a championship contender.
Anyway, back to the big signings, here are a few that should have you shaking your head about their annual salaries.
Jermaine O’Neal: 23 million
Rashard Lewis: 19 million
Andrei Kirilenko: 17 million
Vince Carter: 16 million
Zach Randolph: 16 million
There are other examples of reckless spending, but does anyone in their right mind believe any of the players mentioned above deserve that kind of money? Free Agency has merit but it’s been taken to a level of absurdity.
Some Owners and GMs think Free Agency is the salvation of their team, so they usually over pay guys by several million dollars and then regret it big time. Then they’re forced to make bad decisions in order to dump a huge contract. You’re often better off building through the draft.

bigsby22ParticipantAmare is not the best NBA PF he is athletic, and that is it, he has very little in the ways of post skills he just rebounds and dunks and has a marginal post a game, from 17 ft. in Bosh is the best PF in the game offensively KG has him beat on D bet all around game Bosh is the man, I wish Bosh would mesh in Miami but I don’t know if he and Wade will meld well, but there is no question in my mind about Bosh being the best, and when it comes to team building I wouldn’t take Amare in my top 5 PF

bigsby22Participantrtbt I agree with most of the overspending assessments above except for Rashard Lewis he would be the Star player of a lot of other teams, and while I don’t know his stats this season the last 2 seasons he has averaged around 20 ppg and he is solid on defense, because of his style of game hes one of my favorite forwards in the league

BiggysmallsParticipantDWillJazz man…Amare is good because Steve Nash is good. Just because he’s meaner, leaner and more athletic doesnt mean he is better. Its not the combine, its basketball and Bosh is a better basketball player.
bigsby22 hit the nail on the head, Amare is only good at dunking and getting to the FT line.
Watch a Suns game…how many times does Amare get the ball in the low post isolated, make a move and score on his man? I’m willing to bet I could count how many times on my hand, and still find fingers to type this message. Amare is a solid player, but he is a product of Steve Nash and the Suns style of play. He’s not the best PF in the league…not even top 3. He might be the most athletic, but that doesnt mean anything.
rtbt…I agree with the overpaying on alot of those guys but I disagree with your assessment on Bosh. He is a superstar player…What does he have to do to be considered a superstar player? You are right when you point out that he will not instantly make any team a championship contender, but nobody will on the wrong team. If he goes to a team like the Bulls, I think they could contend in the East, add a player through the draft, sign another solid player in FA and that team could be very good. Same thing goes with Lebron, He’s not going to instantly make the Knicks a championship contender, that team is terrible. No 1 player can instantly make any team Championship caliber, but alot of these guys can make a few teams championship caliber…the right kind of teams.
