Im not a diehard Bazz fan although I do think he will be a legit NBA starter but I think this performance is worth pointing out due to all the hate he has been recieving. All I ever hear is that he is selfish, and fat you guys make him sound like Peter Griffin. Half of the so called forum critics bashing this kid have no clue how much work goes into being an NBA star and act as if he is not working on his flaws.

I loom forward to seeing Muhammad progress and prove people wrong. This whole Minnesota team is full of extremely scrutinized young men all across the roster. They have alot of talent and the future seems to finally be bright in Minny.

 Shabazz should end up being a pretty good player but starting for Minny is not in his future until he learns to play better defense and even then he would need wiggins to play the SG position full time. He should become a good 6th man though

 I wouldn’t consider myself a hater, but I knew very early into his college career that he was not the top 5 prospect he was predicted to be after his high school career.

That being said, I think he has starter potential, and I love how he transformed his body in the off-season. He’s clearly buying in, and taking his career seriously. 

I’m not a hater, but a 19 point game in the midst of a very average pre-season isn’t exactly sticking it to his nay sayers. He’s coming off a 6 point game, and drops 19. That’s a good sign, and I certainly won’t try to take anything away from his game last night, and I didn’t see it, so trying to piece together negatives based on his statline would just be inaccurate.

Still, it’s the pre-season, and he’s a ways away. If I had to take an over under of Shabazz averaging 12 ppg at some point in his career, I’d take the over, but comon’ one pre-season game isn’t sticking it to anyone.

Early into his collegiate career I knew he wasn’t a top 5 prospect in the 2013 draft, he was the projected #1 on this site all summer, and as soon as I saw him, I didn’t recognize him as a draft prospect of top 5 caliber. I saw relatively little of him in high school, and didn’t have the info that would I would need to declare him anything of much as a prep player.

Maybe I am a bit of a hater, but I’m not rooting against him. I wasn’t afraid to say I didn’t see him as an elite prospect, and I was very much in the camp that Ben McLemore was the better SG prospect. Only time will tell whether I was right or wrong with that choice, but my biggest knock on Bazz in college was his terrible conditioning. Now that he’s slimmed down, I can see him having a better career.

Just for the fun of it, though, for his high school class…

If McGary can stay healthy he could be a contender, I think former 3 star recruit and ESPN’s 67th ranked shooting guard in 2012, Caris LaVert, has loads of potential, and I would easily choose him over Muhammad. Montrezl Harrell is another guy who I think could have a great career as a Ken Faried type bruiser, I think Buddy Hield is a guy who more well rounded than Bazz and could also end up a better pro player, Sam Dekker could be in the mix, he very well may not even be in the top 5 of his his school class when all is said and done. I’m not afraid to admit go on record in saying that.

What made it even better was that he was match up against Antetokoumnpo all night and he only scored 1 point. Antetokoumnpo of course was drafted the pick after Muhammad.

 Say what you will about Shabazz’s skill set and weaknesses, but I’m shocked at how hard this guy works. I was super skeptical about the Wolves drafting him because in college when I watched him it did seem like he had a bad attitude and I didn’t think he played very hard. However, since he’s been in the NBA this guy busts his a** at all times. Dropping 20 lbs. by doing some crazy summer workout regimen is an example of it, but I’m impressed with how hard he plays. This guy is out there in the preseason going balls to the wall every minute he gets. Rebounding, defense, and offense he doesn’t slow down for a minute. Yeah, he can get out of control and make bad decisions, but he leaves every ounce of energy he has on the court and I respect that. Never would’ve thought he would work like this when I saw him in college and as a fan all you can ask is that a guy gives it everything he’s got and wants to be great. A lot of players want to be great, but don’t put in the effort to make it happen. I don’t think the effort part of it will be a problem for Bazz. For the people that say he can’t play D I would ask if they’ve seen him play since he dropped all the weight? This is a guy that’s 6’6” with a 7′ wingspan and looks way quicker now then he did last year. Also, a lot of NBA players problems on D stem from lack of effort and since he’s been on the Wolves that has not been an issue at all. The problem last year was he was too heavy and was lacking lateral quickness. Of course his defensive technique still needs to improve, but that ‘s the case with most young players. As far as his potential with the Wolves (I won’t call it his ceiling), I think he could be a great 6th man for the Wolves in the future. He’ll be a little further down the bench than that this year, but in a few years I could see him as a 6th man of the year type. The question is if he’ll fit into the long-term plan with so many wing players on the roster. All I got to say to sum up this (much longer than it probably should’ve been) comment is that I was initially a Shabazz hater, but with the way he’s worked since he’s been on the Wolves I can’t help but cheer for the guy.

 Is this thread for real? He’s had one decent game in the preseason against a team (the Bucks) that will win 20-25 games next year. Whoop-dee-doo. If you’ve been watching basketball as long as I have you know this guy just doesn’t have the mental aspect or handles to succeed in the NBA.
