I know that flopping has become a debatable subject over the last couple years.  Should referees begin giving out technical for BLATANT flops?

You either have to tech them or fine them (or both).  The problem will be in regulating it and will most likely result in a "reviewable" play to determine the degree of the flop.  Necessary evil IMO.

But, it is hard to judge. Now, the b!tching about it bothers me even more. Yes, there are players who tend to borrow from soccer drama and such, but everyone seems to try to draw cheap fouls. When you think of the great floppers of history, have they really been that beneficial to a team? Has flopping helped someone win a championship?

Say what you will about Manu Ginobili, but that dude can hoop like crazy and I think flopping makes up a small part of his game. If you wanted to give out T’s for it rather than just give the flopper a foul, than it would take more time and analysis, not to mention cause more controversy. If a player flops, they tend to get called out on it and get theres. People notice these things. I do not know how giving out technical fouls would deter a person from doing something that in an essence has become part of the game. I hate flopping, but I think I would hate flop reviewing even more.

With all of the calls awarded to floppers, I don’t know how refs would be able to tell the difference between what’s blatant and what’s not.

I think fines should be given out. Like the league should review reported flops and fine players. The more you flop, the more money you lose. Players don’t like losing money, so it should put a stop to some of the unnecesary flopping.

It would be better if it was done through the league and instead of techs being given, it was fines. I mean the Carlos Boozer on Chris Bosh flop we all know so well ("elbow to the face") looks real enough where a ref would call it but by instant replay, you can clearly see it was Bosh flopping. Rather than the refs stopping the game to watch 8 different replays to come to a decision, they should just get the game going and let the league handle its business and sort it out.

However there should be an additional part where if its in the last couple minutes of regulation, they should be able to review and issue a tech so that guys like Stan Van Gundy don’t go yelling at the refs after the game saying they missed that call blah blah blah. Because honestly… Flopping has really started to take over some games.

Have ref’s review questionable fouls with replays during a commercial break. If it is obvious that a player flopped, take away the foul and throw the flopper out of the game. Sports are just that, they are sports! If you want to act become an actor or take a drama class.

I cannot stand flopping, blatant flopping bothers me more than anything in basketball, but apparently the NBA just doesnt care or doesnt see it as an issue. There have been plenty of voices against flopping and if the NBA saw it as an issue, they would have stopped it by now. There are plenty of ways to punish it…techs, fines, suspensions…I think the best thing to do would probably be just stop calling it. If the refs stop calling it, just ignore the flop and let it be a play on, guys are going to stop. But that wont happen.

If there were fines for flopping Blake Griffin would be broke by now.

Fines, technicals, suspension for every 15 flops you’re charged with.

    I hate flops.
