I’m completely stunned by this news, RIP to one of the really good guys of the league.. The Timberwolves need to play inspired basketball for him this season.. Unbelievable news.

mannn this broke my heart… I know he decided to take time off, but I thought and was hoping it was just so he could focus on healing… I really hate to hear this and I hope his family is doing okay. RIP Flip

Is so sad and unfortunate.  One of the great basketball ambassadors and minds in the game.  Obviously life is bigger than basketball, but he really put his heart into the Timberwolves organiztion and put them on the right path for the future.  Hopefully his work comes to fruition and the Wolves develop into the team he knew they could become in the future.  RIP Flip.

When dealing w/ Cancer, no matter early they catch it, you just Never know how the body will react to treatment…. Just One chemo therapy treatment can send a person into heart failure… There are dozens upon dozens of side effects that can be fatal… By all accounts Flip was a wonderful person, who was always unslefish b/c he put others first, his family, his players, his co – workers… My heart goes out to his wife & kids & may he rest in peace….

sid hartman of the star tribune wrote that saunders had pneumonia and been in a coma for 6 weeks.

kind of hard to believe that in today’s 24/7 media age, they were able to keep that secret.

Rip Flip. Condolences to his family.

I know he had a great career but this is one moment that has always came to mind when he gets brought up.

Just as the timberwolves get a good president of basketball or GM or what ever his official title is they lose him. He set this team up for the future. All four of the young players he aquired picks were great choices. He somehow managed to do the Kevin love trade right and got wiggins, about the most you can expect given the situation. He went with lavine a high upside player. He made the obvious selection of towns, that kahn or mchale would have messed up. He then got tyus jones the local high character most likely career back up with the 24th pick. Then he brought in veterans to help with developing their young players like miller, prince, garnett. This is probably the best spot the franchise has ever been in. I would say most timberwolves have nothing but gratitude for the spot he left the team in.
