Just a year ago, the Boston Celtics were living a dream. A dream they thought that they would never wake up for. It was when they raised the 17th championship banner of their storied franchise. A dream where they acquired two veteran superstars and led themselves to a title after years of frustrations and heartaches. 2008-2009 Season was a season where they knew they had targets in their backs as champions always do. The sweet ride for the Boston Celtics continue on, even starting at 29-2, one of the best starts in franchise history. It was like repeat all over again, or so they thought. 82 games in a season can put so much unpredictability and one of those came in a game against the Utah Jazz where the C’s heart and soul, KG was injured in a collision. No one expected that to happen to a guy who has shown durability throughout his career. As a result, the Celtics lost their emotional leader throughout the playoffs where they shown teams that without Garnett, they are very much vulnerable. And vulnerable were they as they almost fell to the Bulls in 7 games but survived due to experience and heart. Thing showed up well against the Magic but without a leader to guide them, (Paul Pierce may be the Captain but he’s not the emotional leader) it was clear that the Magic would steal the spotlight and proceed to the East Finals. It was disappointing for the Celtics losing to the second round in what could have been a title defense/rematch against their arch-rival the Lakers. Still, no one will argue that the C’s will push back in the upcoming season. Especially now that they had acquired a very huge veteran presence in Rasheed Wallace. A guy who has the same passion as KG, a guy who has been friends with KG for long and a guy that can be relied on to play a team game and hit those mid-range shots not normally found among big men. This can prove that the Celtics will not take anyone for granted anymore and this may mean that Kendrick Perkins will be coming off the bench…But still, the presence of the Big 3 now Big 4(or even Big 5 if you include Ragon Rondo) will be even more dominating in the East especially in the Atlantic Division. The re-signing of Big Baby was sweet after delivering sick performances in the absence of Kevin Garnett. He will be with the team for a guaranteed 2 seasons which would mean that the bench will be as strong as before. There are no James Posey in the team but with their defense as their focal point, other players will be able to step up and contribute to this team-oriented offense. With most of their first round picks going somewhere, they settled for the 58th pick in the draft that allowed them to have a solid player in Lester Hudson, a guy who had achieved a quadruple-double game while in college. He should be able to provide scoring and defense off the bench and with guys like Giddens and Bill Walker ( a steal!) providing the spark, it is definitely a reason to watch some showtime in Beantown. So, will the Celtics get back to promised land? Depends on who you ask? Will you ask Ray Allen? Paul Pierce? or will you ask LeBron James and Dwight Howard? We’ll defnitely see a good run for the C’s.

I HATE the addition of Rasheed, he hurts his teams more than he helps them

Should be best team in east and compete with Lakers for best record in league. But I’m not as high on Rasheed as you are. You say that he is now part of the big 4 with Rondo being 5th and that he plays with the same intensity as KG, but if that’s the case, then why did he quit on his team last year, settle for nothing but jump shots on his way to averaging 6 points and 6 boards on like 33% shooting in the playoffs? But everything is looking way up for the Celtics next year.

I think that’s because rasheed knew that the pistons were going to suck that year once they traded away Chauncey, and it may have been that he wants a team that can win and knowing the roster of his pistons team, he knew they aren’t going that far anymore but you’re right I may have said too much about his passion but he did show passion way back when the Pistons won the title in 2004.

the pistons do not suck just watch when they make the playoffs they are better then they where last year, rasheed wallace sucks he is to inconsistent. the reason why rasheed went to the Celtics is because he is getting worse and he just want another championship so pretty much he is going to be what ben wallace was to the bulls and they were to blind to see the only reason why those 2 where good is because they were in detroit the best city in the world

Garnett will keep Sheed in check he won’t be playing 30 mins a nite anyway.
The Pistons will score plenty of pts but they don’t have much defense besides Tayshaun Prince.

I like the Rasheed Wallace pick-up I think he will add defense, rebounding, and shotblocking….. I also think with a rotation of him, Garnett, Big Baby, and Perkins will keep Garnett fresh….
