TRC1991Participant1) MIL – Andrew Wiggins, SG, Kansas
Excellent wings for the future with Wiggins and Giannis. If Knight, Henson and Sanders can continue to develop and improve – the Bucks will have a nice future
2) PHI – Jabari Parker, SF, Duke
The 76ers definitely need a star on the wing for the future. Pair him with MCW and Noel and you have a nice core.
3) ORL – Joel Embiid, C, Kansas
The only issue I have is that the Magic have a capable center in Vucevic, but he’s not the shot-alterer that Embiid is. I’m not sure if the two can co-exist but it would give Orlando a pair of solid 7-foot options.
4) UTA – Julius Randle, PF, Kentucky
Utah experimented with Kanter and Favors on the court at the same time and it didn’t work. The two are both centers. Randle brings versatility and explosion.
5) BOS – Dante Exum, PG, Australia
I’d love this pick for the Celtics. Exum is talented with the basketball and can play both guard spots. It will be interesting to see what Danny Ainge does.
6) LAL – Marcus Smart, PG, Oklahoma State
Steve Nash can mentor Marcus next season and he gives LA a point guard and a potential star player to build around
7) SAC – Aaron Gordon, PF, Arizona
The Kings have played musical chairs with their power forwards but none of them are above-the-rim type talents. Pair Gordon’s athleticism and aggression with Cousins’s methodical style and I think you have a solid pair.
8) DET – Noah Vonleh, PF, Indiana
The rumor is that Greg Monroe won’t be back. I think they’ll try to move Josh Smith as well and if they do, they’ll need a frontcourt presence. Vonleh has a very high ceiling
9) CLE – Doug McDermott, SF, Creighton
The Cavs picked a "small forward" last year but it didn’t quite turn out as positive as they expected. Bennett is more of a stretch 4. Luol Deng won’t be back, Dougie can be the SF of the future. He’s also effective without the ball which will fit well with Kyrie’s style.
10) PHI – James Young, SG, Kentucky
The Sixers add a dynamic true shooting guard. Fans can say so long to the James Anderson/Hollis Thompson travesty.
11) DEN – Gary Harris, SG, Michigan State
Randy Foye was good this year, but he’s not the answer long-term. Harris has a load of skills and can be effective in a variety of ways.
12) ORL – Tyler Ennis, PG, Syracuse
Oladipo is more of a combo guard than a true point guard. I think he’d fit incredibly well with Tyler Ennis as the backcourt of the future for Orlando.
13) MIN – T.J. Warren, SF, NC State
The Wolves could use a small forward who doesn’t necessarily need the ball in his hands to be effective. Kyle Anderson was an option here, but I feel like the Wolves need a guy who could stretch the floor a little more.
14) PHX – Rodney Hood, SF, Duke
Hood brings athleticism and rebounding ability to the frontcourt. PJ Tucker is certainly just a stop-gap and the Morris twins are more stretch 4’s.
15) ATL – Kyle Anderson, SF, UCLA
The Hawks could definitely use a guy who can create for himself from the wing. They haven’t had one of those since Joe Johnson left.
16) CHI – Adreian Payne, PF, Michigan State
Payne can play both frontcourt positions. The Bulls don’t really have a solid backup center. If Boozer or Gibson leave, they’ll be thin up front
17) BOS – Nik Stauskas, SG, Michigan
The Celtics got a combo guard with their first pick and now they get a pure shooter who has underrated athleticism. This might make Rondo expendable.
18) PHX – Shabazz Napier, PG, UCONN
The Suns have a pair of phenomenal guards already, but Napier can come off the bench and play when Bledsoe and Dragic need a break. 3-Guard rotation never hurts.
19) CHI – Zach Lavine, SG, UCLA
Lavine’s a super athlete who can play both guard spots. The Bulls have a very unathletic backcourt with Rose out. Lavine has a world of potential as well.
20) TOR – Cleanthony Early, SF, Wichita State
One of my favorite prospects. Think he has the size to be a matchup nightmare at 6’8” 220 and a skill set to make this pick a steal.
21) OKC – Glenn Robinson III, SF, Michigan
Glenn showed he can step out and hit the open 3, and his athleticism is undeniable. I think he fits in great with the Thunder as he can spell Durant and provide minutes at the 2 also.
22) MEM – DeAndre Daniels, SF, UCONN
Daniels provides offense from the small forward position which the Grizzlies haven’t had since Rudy Gay was shipped out. Good pick here.
23) UTA – K.J. McDaniels, SF, Clemson
He might be undersized but he’s a pitbull defensively and has a high ceiling. The Jazz need to add athletes and wing defenders because they were 28th in the NBA in point differencial
24) CHA – P.J. Hairston, SG, North Carolina/NBDL
Hairston can score with the best of ’em. His off the court issues will hurt his draft stock, but let’s not forget how talented he really is. Jordan gets a Tar Heel.
25) HOU – Dario Saric, SF, Croatia
Saric is a nice value pick here. I think he falls because his agent has made it crystal clear that he intends to play another 2 years overseas thusly makes him a commodity for teams who are able to stash guys.
26) MIA – Jabari Brown, SG, Missouri
Talented shooting guard who would have been drafted higher had he not had to split shots with Clarkson. Very gifted. Miami adds a nice piece here with the presumptive retirement of Battier.
27) PHX – Mitch McGary, C, Michigan
McGary provides hard screen-setting, nice touch in the paint, and a competitor’s attitude to a team that could use another meanie off the pine.
28) LAC – Jusuf Nurkic, C, Bosnia & Herzegovina
Nurkic is a solid center. He doesn’t have many holes in his game. He’s not a freak athlete but he’ll be a useful big body off the bench to spell DeAndre.
29) OKC – Elfrid Payton, PG, Louisiana-Lafayette
I imagine it’s only a matter of time before Fisher retires and Reggie Jackson gets paid by someone else. Payton is a pure point guard too and can fill the void left by Eric Maynor
30) SAS – Jarnell Stokes, PF, Tennessee
Stokes showed he’s a tough matchup when he gets down low. I thought about Clint Capela for this pick, but the Spurs made a draft-n-stash pick last year (Livio Jean-Pierre) so why not pick a guy who can contribute right away with this pick.

Memphis MadnessParticipantGood draft.
i like Phoenix with Napier and McGary. At 14, maybe they should think about Kyle Anderson as a playmaker from the small forward spot. That would allow Dragic and Bledsoe to score more and not having to rely as much at creating offense. Anderson, Napier, and McGary are all good passers.
DeAndre Daniels to Memphis would make too much sense. Not sure it would happen.
I like Jarnell Stokes and the Spurs could get a lot out of him. He and Duncan would be tough to stop inside.

Magic JordanParticipantI like it, I might switch Hood and TJ Warren. Warren needs the ball in his hands to be effective, Hood projects more as a spot up shooter. All in all, good job.

HomerKangParticipantGood mock. But I would have to disagree with the Sixers 10th pick. I don’t think they’re gonna go for James Young since he’s too much like Nick Young, and they’ve already experimented with him last year under Doug Collins. I think they’re either going to pair MCW in the back court with either Hood (who can play both 2 and 3, IMO), Harris, Warren, or Stauskas before they would consider another Young.

hbomb3300ParticipantSolid overall… I agree with the above users who said LaVine and Payne would be amazing gets for the Bulls. I love the Payton pick for my Thunder. I really don’t like McDermott to the Cavs but a lot of mocks have him going there. Also, I don’t think theres any chance the Suns would take Napier.

morestealsthanscoresParticipantone of the best mocks I’ve seen from no. 4 to no. 15. I’m not sure about the top 3- all depends on Embiid’s back issues and where Philly think Noel projects, PF or C. I also think Wiggins and Giannis have too much crossover- I think Parker is the best fit for the Bucks.
I definitely don’t think that OKC will use both picks- they’ll either package to trade up (Atlanta at #15?) or use one pick on a stash, maybe Saric.
But great mock.

SwatLakeCityParticipantYou said the Wolves some more 3 point shooting and thats why you put Warren over Anderson there. Warren is not a great 3 point shooter, great scorer but not a 3 point shooter. He shot like 28 percent from there this year. Anderson though can shoot the 3. I think he shot 35 percent from there, so Anderson actually would be a better choice from that stand point.
I do like McDaniels going to the Jazz at 23 but don’t forget they do have an early second round pick, and he could still be available then too. The Jazz need some bench help. Mark my words Burks will start next year and Kanter will be on the bench. Burks was the Jazz’s sixth man so they need a new one. I don’t trust Kanter to bring it every night. He has his good days and his bad days, and you can’t have that as a sixth man. So the Jazz need someone else. I could see the Jazz selecting Napier at 23. Great backup point guard. Plays similar to Burke. He is not Burke 2.0 but had a season very much like Burke did last year at Michigan. If the Jazz are struggling a couple of games I could see Napier coming in and put the team behind him much like he did for Uconn this year.
I don’t really see the Suns selecting a PG this year. They have two in Dragic and Bledsoe. True one could leave in the offseason, but don’t forget they have 3 picks in the first round, they could package those picks for some veteran players. So they might be picking for other teams with those 3 picks. I think they will more target the 4 and 3 positions with their pick(s).

HitsterParticipantGood mock, so a plus 1 from me, I like the Phoenix and Chicago picks especially. Aaron Gordon may be a reach but the logic of picking him makes sense, Embiid alongside Vucevic I personally not sure of but if he is the last of the big 3 left then do Orlando have any choice.
Smart and Exum I fully agree with, I’d be personally tempted to consider Vonleh for Utah but 4 may be a reach for him. Vonleh has this big wingspan and can offer Utah the perimeter defence they needed from their PF.
But certainly one of the best draft mocks I’ve seen on here this year.
