You talking current NBA player or Prospect?

If it’s a current NBA player, I’d say Wiggins. Mostly because I wanna go young. He’s just an athletic beast. He can split through defenders with ease and he has a decent jumpshot with a 31% in three pointers. Wiggins along with Anthony Davis will be the Lebron and KD’s of the league when those two step down. Any team with Wiggins on will be a good team.

If it’s a prospect, I’m going to say Jaylen Brown. He along with Wiggins is an athletic beast. He’s also a player that isn’t ball dominant and that’s really good for a wing. He can split defenders and posterize anyone. He seems to have a really good feel for the game. Now, I know that Ben Simmons will be better all around. But I think that Jaylen can be the guy that just goes into the game and gets people pumped up, really easy.

Dennis Smith Jr, god willing he recovers from his recent knee injury, will be a game changer.

This kid is going to be everything Steve Franchise could have been if he had his head on straight- except better. He’s an absolute freak of nature athletically, 6’2, chiseled 190 frame, slick handle, a jumper that while it isn’t knock down all day, is far from the project guys like Derrick Rose and John Wall’s jumpers have proven to be. This guy when locked in can lock up any guy at his position with his length and lateral quickness. He’s an extremely good passer, and moves the ball willingly, not a Rondo passer only going for the direct assist. Everything hinges on him coming back 100% from his recent injury, but if that happens, watch out because he is the next great point guard in this league.

Still can’t believe he tore his ACL. The way he goes up for dunks is other-wordly. It looks too easy for him. AND he has a nasty handle. Hope he recovers well because I agree with you, he WILL be a game-changer.

Totall agree with this – he has the most upside of any prospect I have seen recently (yes, that includes Ben Simmons)

I know he arrived from a statistical standpoint last season, but soon those numbers are going to translate to perrenial victories of 50+ per season, no matter who his supporting cast is.

I heard that he’s been working on his 3pt shot a lot this season, and if he adds that to his bag we may be looking at one of the most unique talents in NBA history.

I think because of the right mentorship the Timberwolves staff has, Karl Towns looks like the "New" big every team potentially will try to draft and develop. A big who can sharp shoot from the perimeter, protect the rim, AND one who can post. Bigs who can post and protect the rim are a dying breed in the NBA. Towns potentially, thanks to a great staff in Minny, can be that big that can do all 3.

Kristaps Porzingas.  Unique skill set. Great size and length.  Plus he will play in the world’s most famous arena, or whatever they hype MSG as being.

You can probably count the number of legit Stretch 7 Footers on one hand.

Kristaps will be on that hand.

    Book it.

Guys here mentioning Wiggins and Anthony Davis, really going out on a limb with their predictions, lol.

Name one current NBA player with more upside than Wiggins besides Anthony Davis?  He was the best athlete on the floor as a rookie in the majority of games he played in last year.  The look on LeBron James face after one play basically said "i can’t believe i forced them to trade this kid" when they went head to head last year.

Wiggins put up numbers on a terrible team, with a big smile on his face.

How many charges did he take? How much better did he make his teammates? How many times did he dive on the floor and sacrafice his fragile body? How many screens did he fight through?

          Nobody even cares.

Wiggins had the league worst overall +/-, and nobody even wants to question whether he had anything at all to do with it.

Smart is an infinitely better leader than Wiggins, plays with a much higher, much more infectious energy level, and sacrifices his body on every single possession.

Like Andre Drummond, Wiggins is a physical freak with a couple photogenic skills, who plays with a smile whether his team loses or loses.

And just like Drummond, Wiggins will always be coddled by fantasy basketball fans who are convinced of his greatness no matter how many devils are in the details.

Wiggins will always be skinny for a SF, will always be a shaky shooter for a SG, and will always play a bit smaller than he is, like Drummond always does.

Even Marcus Smart can take Wiggins out of a game mentally, like he did in college.

NBA players with more upside than Wiggins:

Smart – already an infinitely better defender, and actually more physically talented defensively. Because he’s stong as an ox, while sliding his feet even quicker than Wiggins does. Offensively, Smart has the better 3 point shot, and will show again this year the dominant ability to get to the FT line off of strong drives. Smart can play football every single game, while Wiggins plays Arthur Ashe style finesse tennis. Only problem is, Wiggins doesn’t have a lot of finesse. He’s no Reggie Miller.

Myles Turner – Positional value, superior, unblockable 3 point shot, makes all his teammates better by spreading the floor from the 4 or 5 spot, opening major space in the lane for his teammates to dribble drive. Also makes teammates better by protecting the rim and erasing mistakes by the perimeter defenders.

Porzingis – It should be obvious why he has more potential than Wiggins, but people will play dumb until the actual games start. Just like with Gobert.

Gobert – A much, much better defender than Wiggins, at a much more valuable position, with great versatility to be able to defend 4s and 5s. Offensively raw and not ultra-talented, but all he needs to do is get better at the easy shots, and be efficient like DeAndre Jordan. A slightly better DeAndre Jordan offensively, while being better than Jordan defensively, is a more valuable player than a skinny small forward who can’t shoot 3s at volume and % at the same time.

The league is full of quality SFs, with many more coming into the league every year.

Towns – has the same chill, friendly demeanor as Wiggins, but is a better outside shooter, has more defensive upside and current ability, and has a major positional value advantage over Wiggins.

John Wall – Wiggins should be so lucky as to ever get close to that good. Just assuming Wiggins can develop into a top defender like Wall is a huge assumption, and an assumption that Wiggins tools/mentality do not merit. Wiggins will always get pushed around by SFs, and he’s not a lock-down defender against SGs like you would expect him to be. Even with an Olympic bid on the line this summer, Wiggins wasn’t even a standout defender against sub-NBA talent.

Embiid, if he ever gets healthy.

Olynyk – Who stepped up with an Olymic bid on the line, and who disappeared like the ghost of a female dog? KO is a 7 footer with solid mobility, acceptable strength, and an absolutely complete set of offensive skills. Simply way more offensive talent than Wiggins, not only with skills like shooting and passing, but in basketball i.q. and positional value. Olynyk is the prototype of the New Age center, and he already impacts winning with his floor spacing way more than Wiggins does.

All Olynyk needs to do is stay aggressive and confident. Wiggins needs to do a lot more than that, though his assertiveness as a rookie was admirable.

Greak Freak – there’s a whole other thread comparing Freak to Wiggins, and even if the case doesn’t convince you, I’m sure you appreciate that the argument is valid and debatable.

Nurkic – might be more valuable than Wiggins right now, and isn’t much older if at all. Elite combination of strength, agility, and scoring touch. Not to mention his positional value advantage over Wiggins.

Rozier is probably a better shooter than Wiggins, and plays with a lot more fearlessness. Not to mention being a better defender already and just about as strong. Same athleticism.

Mentality is everything once you have the elite athleticism and coordination.

Rozier would not have disappeared like Wiggins did this summer with an Olympic bid on the line. He would have at least gone down swinging.

     Meyers Leonard

Nobody feels like being bold but I said this since he was at Illinois he has the complete package. A superathletic 7-footer with great agility and shooting touch. His defensive instincts have slowly improved although his rebounding still needs improvement.

He may not be a superstar but his skills will definitely make him a game changer. He should get the green light this year…watch out.

I always hear Dennis Smith Jr’s. name when discussing the next great Point Guard. While I agree Smith has most of the box’s checked off for prototypical NBA point guard, I think Fox will end up being better. Fox is a bit taller, quite a bit longer and just as quick. IMO he is the best defensive guard to come out of High School since Avery Bradley/Jrue Holiday and I think he has more fluidity/athleticisim then either of those guys(and Holiday is considered one of the 5 best defensive point guards in the league). Can’t wait to see what Fox and Smith Jr do in College/nba.
