Ace Da RenegadeParticipantWith all the off season changes which team east or west has the best chance to win the NBA Finals, and which team do you think will be on the losing end of that finals?

CameronCrazieParticipantI think the Lakers will beat the Celtics

SpencerIsHawesome2ParticipantLakers beat Magic.
Season will suck cuz Artest did the whole “if you cant beat them join them” thing.

JNixonParticipantI think it’ll be Laker vs. Celtics..and it’ll be Lakers in 7. It could be an Epic Final man. I can imagine

bigbusinessParticipantLakers Have No Answer For Timmy.Or Tony Parker..Especially Parker.
Celtics Just Are Too Talented For Anybody In The East Now That The Magic Don’t Have Hedo.
But I’m Taking The Spurs.in 6 maybe 7.

llperezLakers over celtics. The vegas odds makers are predicting this as well. It’s currently Lakers:3/2 odds, celtics:3/1, and cavs at 7/2.
I would rank the teams in order of likelyhood:
1-Lakers
2-Celtics
3-Magic
4-Spurs
5-Cavs0- Posted on: Wed, 09/02/2009 - 11:58am #209162
bigbusinessParticipantAre Not #1. Yes They Are The Defending Champs But They Are Not Bulls With Jordan.
Spurs Will Beat Them.

llperezI’m not sure what the BUlls have to do with this. But I think the Lakers are number one. Parker will abuse Fish, but what else is new? Actually the Lakers will probably use Brown and Farmar even more at point next year so Fish will play even less and be fresher when he does play.
After that, Kobe is better then Manu. Artest and Jefferson are a wash imo. Duncan is slightly better then Gasol, but not by much. And I’ll take Bynum over whoever the Spurs have at center. Then Odom is better then whoever the next guy is on the spurs roster.
Lakers have the best player in the series and are younger.

SpencerIsHawesome2ParticipantAnyone who thinks the Lakers aren’t going to make the finals are dreaming.
The Lakers have more of an anwer for Timmy D then the Spurs have an answer for Kobe. Lakers are above and beyond the better team now with Artest.

llperezDon’t get me wrong, I think the Spurs can play with the lakers. But I can’t put them as favorites. Lakers have handled them pretty easily the last 2 years and adding Jefferson and hoping Manu will be healthy in order to turn the tides is a reach.
Lakers now have the attitude of a champion they didn’t have back in 2008. Bryant is still the best in the game when he needs to be. Bynum returning to full health is just down right scary to add to a team that already won a title. Also, Artest has been saying things like he doesn’t even care about scoring, he just wants to lock guys down again. Odom might be the best 6th man in the league. It should be a fun season.

Spurs2020ParticipantGoing position by position is no way to assess if a team is better. I’m not saying the Lakers are going to lose, but…
-Firstly, Artest can ruin a team in a week, as much as I like him.
-The spurs championship window is closing, so expect more desperation and passion from these guys than ever before, they all know the clock is ticking….
-also beyond the ridiculous starting 5’s of both teams, roger mason and george hill are huge assets and another year in the spurs system will do them a great deal, especially since they will be handling a lot of manus reg season mins.
-in the frontcourt, dajuan blair, marcus hairslip, malik hairston, and ian mahinmi are limitless minutes of hustle and raw athleticism to keep duncans minutes top notch, and duncan playing his best, and parker running by scrubs make the spurs unbelievbly tough…dont forget Timmy had 4 before Kobe hah

RickyRubio9ParticipantLakers vs. Cavs 😀 I hope Cavs make it.
Cavs in 7! That would be so awesome. Please, No Magic though, if they do make it, then no Lakers. No rematch. 🙂0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/02/2009 - 12:25pm #209184

llperezCavs vs Lakers would be sick ratings. Shaq vs his old team. Kobe and shaq trying to beat each other for a 5th ring. Kobe vs Lebron. It would be stupid hyped up and Stearn would probably jizz in his pants.

RickyRubio9ParticipantThis is how it goes. 1 seed is Cavs, 2 is Celtics, and 3 is Magic meaning Cavs play 8 then 4. Celtics and Magic would meet in second round. One is eliminated and in the ECF Cavs vs. (Insert Team). Hopefully Shaq, Parker, Moon, and Powe are the pieces needed to put them over the hump. Cleveland vs. Los Angeles. Return of the MVPuppets. Throw in the Diesel! 😀 haha.

festar35ParticipantI think whoever wins out of the West is going to take it. No offense to the East but there is still more depth in the West which means there will be far tougher games for them to play. The Top 3 teams in the East a miles ahead. There is Lakers, Spurs, Mavs, Blazers, Nuggets, Jazz, Hornets and Suns all very good teams. Not to mention the talent in Memphis, OKC and for the Clippers. They will create problems in the West.

llperezI agree you can’t just break it down position by position, but using intensitey as a reason the Spurs could beat the Lakers is lame. You don’t think the Lakers have intensity? And those list of guys you mentioned off the spurs bench, while solid, don’t scare anybody. I mean, if you are gonna count on ian mahinimii and Hairston, then I could say the Lakers have Powell, vijacic, and Morrison. As for Artest, he has a teammate and coach he respects. It was a 5 year deal, so he isn’t playing with free agency or a trade in mind. Plus he has said all the right things this summer about not caring about scoring points.
Obviously time will tell, but if Bynum plays to his all-star potential he showed before injuries the last two years, I think it will be tough for anyone to beat them. Keep in mind, Kobe is gonna do everything possible to seal up his legacy.
