Sloukas has forced his way into the rotation of Reds coach Dusan Ivkovic and in a near flawless performance in this week’s 83-65 Euroleague triumph over Anadolu Efes, he had a season-high 15 points in just under 18 minutes on the court.

The Thessaloniki native was five of seven from the floor, including two of three from long range, and converted all three of his free-throw attempts.

    He also played terrific defense.

"He took his chances and he is doing well," Ivkovic said.

Making the night even sweeter for him was the standing ovation he received from the Olympiacos faithful.

"I am trying to do my best in every game," Sloukas said.

"It is great to enjoy a standing ovation from the fans and I am satisfied because I worked hard, especially on defense, to get a place here."

Have you ever thought that quite possibly, that Kostas Sloukas maybe does not care too much about the NBA? The NBA is the best way to get a guaranteed pay check, that is for sure. Still, if he plays major basketball in Greece or Spain, the guy is going to be making some big time dough.

I mean, where do you think he should be drafted? Odds are, not even close to the lottery. So, late first round, the money probably does not add up to as much as he is making now. So, why do you have beef with him not being drafted when it is not even positive that he WANTS the NBA as much as possibly gaining a major role in European basketball.

Just a thought, because I doubt racism is the reasons Sloukas is not on the Mock Draft. It is just kind of the way things are working, it is risky to choose some of the European players who might not be "special" enough to make the really big NBA money. I am sure he is a great prospect and he more than likely should be drafted, but the draft is not based on the 60 best prospects. It is based on the best fits for teams and part of that is making sure the player you draft actually has interest in playing a role on your team. Would Kostas Sloukas take a reduced role to play in the NBA? I am not sure, but I will say that other similar players in his situation have not really been interested in doing so.

I don’t know why your bring up reduced role. He would probably get just as much PT, if not more in the NBA, than he does with Olympiacos.

Also, he is not making all that much money in Olympiacos, by the standards of pro basketball players anyway. He is making 220,000 euros net income (= to about $578,000 a year in the NBA ) this season and has an option for 240,000 euros net income (= to about $632,000 a year in the NBA) next season. Olympiacos has offered him a 3 year extension at 150,000 euros net income per season (= to about $394,000 a year in the NBA), and Spartak Saint Petersburg offered him a 3 year contract at 228,000 euros net income per season (= to about $600,000 a year in the NBA).

So to stay in Greece he would be at about $394,000 a year NBA salary equivalent. So that argument does not really add up.

I hope for your sake that he DOES make it into the NBA. I really do. Nobody deserves to embarrass themselves this much on a weekly basis.
