The8thDeadlySinParticipantFavs: Name – Deadly Comparison – Reason
Tristan Thompson – Amare Stoudamire – I love seeing this kid play. I wasnt sold on him early but just watching his body control and ability to run with the guards has sold me on him.. He is by no means Blake Griffin but he is Amare.. He doesnt have the jumper but everything else is NBA ready. His body, speed, and stregnth should match up well most nights. Will be a better pick for the Cavs than everyone thinks.
Kenneth Faried – Ben Wallace – This could be a bad pick but I hope not.. I see this guy as a more exciting Ben Wallace. He has more springs and more speed than Wallace and will be playing a different position. The only thing that worries me about Faried is the "I made it" complex that some players get. If he stays out of that situation, he could be fun. Jumping, running, defending, and dunking are what will make the crowd come alive with Faried.
Tyler Honeycutt – Richard Hamilton – Will be fantastic in a system where he can play off a lead guard. Playing the middle man between Evans and Cousins will help him come into his own. The pressure they will draw along with Jimmer’s hype will keep all eyes off Tyler.. He is long and can play both wing spots.
Jeremy Tyler – Chris Webber – Some bashing could be coming for this comparison but I think he can be that. He is explosive, moblie and has some range. I like him in the Warriors up-tempo offense and playing will some great scorers will help him come into his own. He will cause some mismatches on offense.
Darius Morris – Sam Cassell – He has great size for the PG position and is a natual running a team. Could be a surprise for the Lakers to succeed Fisher in their offense. If he could learn to shoot consistantly, he could be huge in a year or 2 for them.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI don’t see Amare when I look at Thompson… I think I see a Stomile Swift/Tyrus Thomas type.

Lotto StudParticipant- Josh Selby – Jerryd Bayless – What is there not to like? I can give 1 million reasons why I like him
- Iman Shumpert – Larry Hughes-ish – FREAK
- Malcolm Lee – Jamal Crawford – Very defensive-minded & a better PG than what everyone else thinks.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantNot saying you are wrong but the Jamal Crawford thing is funny to me.
You compare a great defender to a horrible defender. An average scorer to a great scorer. The only thing they share is their body type.

marcusfizer21ParticipantI love his background story but I couldn’t get an exact comparison for the kid… A jack-of-all-trades yet master-of-none player who can playe 2 and 3 positions… anybody comes to mind???

Andrew1984ParticipantI like Tristan Thompson a lot because he has a combination of assets that you don’t see very often. Most teams have one guy who is their superfreak athlete, explosive high flyer, put-back dunks, alley-oops dunks, shot-block guy. (Shannon Brown, Josh Smith, Hakim Warrick, etc.) And then they have their guy who is their big hustle guy, the one guy who gets on the floor for loose balls, boxes out, hits the offensive glass hard, and just works his tokus off (Reggie Evans, Anderson Varejao, etc.)
Tristan Thompson sort of rolls both of those typical players into one. He’s an explosive athlete, but also has an insanely ruthless pursuit of the basketball. I honestly see a little bit of Rodman in him. I don’t see him ever averaging more than 13 or 14 points, but I do think he’ll be a double-double machine and shoot really high percentages.

Andrew1984ParticipantAnd my favorite players in this draft besides Thompson are:
Kyrie Irving
Jimmer Fredette
Nikola Vucevic
Jordan Hamilton
Marshon Brooks
Shelvin Mack
Norris Cole

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantBrandon Knight-Could have a Jrue Holiday type a career early on, he’ll be one of the next great young Pg’s
Enes Kanter-Best big man in this Draft Class, could be very special in time…
Tyler Honeycutt-A great combo G/F…he can probally play sg and sf next year and provided he ever gets bigger/stronger he could play some Pf too…I just see a lot of winning qualities in this player
Kyrie Irving-I made a comment about Kid Kyrie before that wen’t something like this, He could be CP3 or a Damon Stoudimire, but at least he won’t be Johnny Flynn
Alec Burks-you have to like a 6’6 Sg with the ability to drive and dish and defend…he could be an Eddie Jones type for sure, he’s just a sneaky kind of good player, The Jazz are building an interesting team through the draft..
Jimmer-I see alot of great potential there for Jimmer, but I see him impacting a Team later on in his career, he’s a guy that a Championship Team rides for a 6 minute stretch in a tight playoff series, He’ll be a more explosive JJ Barea at worst, and he could suprise a lot of people and become a Gale Goodrich type at Sg, I can see become a fulltime Pg, Mark Price likely, maybe even a little Nash lite…
Vucevic-hopefully for Sixers sake we found another gem at 16(we have drafted well over the past few years and could continue the trend)…I see a lot of Brook Lopez in Nikoli Vucevic’s game, he a skilled big with moderate athletic ability and touch out to about 18 feet, he needs to hit the glass harder and continue to develope his post game but he has all the same tools as Lopez and Others like him had coming out of USC last year…
Chandler Parsons-A 6’9 Florida combo Guard/Forward with ball handling/passing ability and serious range, add in the fact he’s a solid athlete and smart play maker and you’ve got the ingredients for a great pro, it was almost a crime a guy with Parsons size/skill and college pedigree got over looked in the 1st round but that could help him fly under the Radar…He could have a long career and in the right place make a huge impact off the bench or in the starting lineup…

M-DYMESParticipantDerrick Williams- a workhorse who rose up the ranks through his dedication to his craft and the game of basketball. Also playing for one of my favorite teams in the league, the T-Wolves. I love his physical game and think he has a strong mental grasp for the game as well. Derrick Williams should become a special player in the league. All that I am worried about is being a combo forward as I have seen more than less of them not be able transition as easily at the NBA level.
Jan Vesely- his athleticism as a legit 7 footer astonishes me. I have never seen this combo before. Interesting that my worries about combo forwards, exist in my 2 favorite players in this class. I’m hoping they can prove me wrong. Vesely should be a great fit with Wall and the run n gun style I’d have to think the Wizards would utilize given their cast. His shooting is better than many realize and should be able to improve as his mechanics are not horrible by any means. Defensively he will be solid against SFs, he may have to add weight to bang with the big boys. I think he has the highest upside from this class.
Kemba Walker- love his leadership and mental makeup. Seems like a tough guy and after that shot against my PITT Panthers, I think he could be scorer at the next level with the forever coveted, clutch gene.
Malcolm Lee- another one for the Wolves. I like UCLA guards alot, as they always seem to turn out to be even better pros than college players. IDK what he will be, a PG or SG, but he just seems fundamentally sound offensively, and a hell of a defensive player. Love his size for a guard. Reminds me of a poor man’s Jrue Holiday, minus Jrue’s shooting ability and decision making at this point. If he improves his jumper and decision making, he could become a very solid player.
Josh Selby- despite performing below expectations at Kansas, I was shocked he went this low. His potential is very high and his athleticism is through the roof. Offensively, he is very very talented. If he makes better decisions, me could be a strong starter in the league. I’m thinking similar to Jerryd Bayless in terms of time to develop, but with the athleticism and size of an Eric Gordon. Needs to be more consistent in the NBA though.
Kenneth Faried- love his hustle and tenacity. I think his offensive game will improve more than people expect. His rebounding is top-notch and his D is stellar. The Nuggets got a hell of a player who is sure to be a fan favorite.
Bojan Bogdanovic- I could very well be wrong on him, as it seems I may have been with Babbit. But Bogdanovic has the potential to be a very good offensive player. He is a very good scorer who is creative at getting his shot. Defensively, he needs to move quicker and be able to keep up with the freak athletic 2s and 3s in the league. He will struggle mightily against a guy like Eric Gordon, Rudy Gay, Iggy, etc. Give him time though and it could pay great dividends.

iguapops420ParticipantIman Shumpert-Larry Hughes- Have watched him since he was a freshman and absolutely love his defense, athleticism and versatility. Good upside.
Malcom Lee-Laron Profit(with better upside)-Again, another player who intrigued me as a freshamn. Never quite developed his point guard play, but a terrific defender with length and athleticism who can do a little bit of everything.
Marshon Brooks-Nick Young- Has a certain swag/confidence that few actually have. The kid can actually back it up. He can put up points RIGHT NOW, but given a good coaching staff and strong veteran players, the kid could round out his game nicely. GREAT length. Kobe-esque manorisms(and shot selection).
Kenneth Faried-(Renaldo Balkman/Dennis Rodman)-HUSTLE.HUSTLE.HUSTLE. Dude has a never ending motor loves competition, and can wow the crowd with some electifying dunks)
Darrius Morris-Andre Miller/09’Jason Kidd- Not the greatest athlete but has a game that will lead to wins. Has some of the best passes of seen in a while. Not a great shooter or defender, but he’s going to be a player in this league very soon.
Josh Selby-Leandro Barbosa-Better athlete than Bosa but definitely has the ability to hit jumpers attack or make the occasional pass. Kid will be a SPECIAL talent in a year or so. Could end up traded to a loser and have a nice Gilbert Arenas type coming out party earlier than expected.
Chandler Parsons-Luke Walton/Mike Miller-Terrific versatility with decent athleticismand good size. Could become a Hedo Turkoglu type if given the chance.
Reggie Jackson-Smush Parker(LAL)-Terrific athlete with great length and defense. Point Guard play developing and spot up 3 ball becoming a nice weapon. Poor Man’s Westbrook upside.
