Is it just me or does fab melo to the celtics at 21-22 would be key in going forward.

Celts have a chance to get a couple of real steals late. Maybe bring in Terrence jones along with melo.

I believe fab would be getting minutes NOW and by that I mean game 6.

I think it would be a good pick for them, They have to draft some size going forward.

I’m not sure he is ready for the league yet. Syracuse played a lot of zone and it masks mistakes made or hides him as a defensive player. I think he would be a good pick for the Cs going forward but to say he could be getting minutes now may be a stretch.

Manheim Steamroller is really a pretty solid backup, but he’s certainly not the C’s center of the future.  Fab would be a pretty good pick because he may develop into a starting caliber player that Steimsma won’t.

If Fab reaches his potential, and if Steimsma stays and backs him up they could be combining for over 4 blocks per game in a couple years.

If Melo is selected from by the Celtics it would benefit him and the team, to have a great coach like Doc to put him in check and guide him and develop him. Melo would be a solid pickup to help provide size and a younger rotation for the aging Celtics. He has the potential to develop into an everyday starter if he is molded correctly and Doc is certainly the Coach who can do that.

They are most likely getting Jeff Green back so why take Jones?

Rivers turned Perk into a defensive specialist, do you think Doc can make Melo like perk.?

Both share similar physicals, raw offense but good defensive awareness. I have always compared Melo to Perk as prospects.

It’s all about needs. I don’t think the Celtics are going for a free agent this summer, unless they decide to dissolve the Big 3. It seems they’re getting young talent from the draft and give them minutes. Melo looks like a nice option for them.

With Rajon Rondo and Avery Bradley there for the future I would think a team built around defensive pressure, attacking, and speed would be the best fit.

I think Fab Melo would help the defense, but if they can resign Greg Stiemsma cheaply then why pay for two tall shot blockers when a rebuilding Celtics would have other needs?

I like Royce White since that new Celtics (Rondo, Bradley, Stiemsma) is fast and athletic but they lack rebounding and scoring on the inside.  Royce White would help that even if he has issues.

If the Celtics can pull out a win tonight or in a game 7 then I think that this team could make one more run especially with a healthy Avery Bradley, and maybe Jeff Green too to go along with their picks.  Free agents don’t flock to Boston so it will be hard for them to reload overnight.  Better to ride it out and make one more solid run next year with some parts added to the core.

If I were the Celtics I would ask myself which draft picks could we put around Rondo and the Big Three, and also which guys would help for the future when we finally rebuild?  They might need to think about getting an athlete who can score and possibly slow down LeBron, especially if they decide to stick with the core for one more year.
