SupParticipantThis Miami team is a waste of everyone’s time. The players, the fans and the NBA as a whole. So when does Pat Riley take over? All star break? Middle of the playoffs? Next season?

hiphopismylifeParticipantNot until it becomes completely clear that there is no way this team will win a title and that it’s Spoelstra’s fault. I really would like to see Riley to stay in the background as the architect. If he steps in as coach, would he really stick around for 7 or 8 years while these guys continue to try and win rings? Im betting not.

IndianaBasketballParticipantThere’s no IF about it… They’re losing tonight.
I know it’s early, but that Heat offense stinks. And they weren’t too good defensively tonight either. Brandon Rush went to work.

festar35ParticipantPacer’s get the W and Spoelstra better be nervous. Considering Hibbert and Collison weren’t factors and Granger struggled offensively for most of the game, despite doing a lot else right.

I 100% agree. As of now, that offense is horrible. They should unstoppable with the players they have, but their system is complete trash. If they were utilized correctly this team would close to unbeatable. Hopefully by the time Miller and Haslem are ready to return Riley will be coaching, and they could fulfill their potential as a team. Because this is getting ugly.

Rush did a good job defending LeBron and Wade.

ChewyParticipantactually it is the exact opposite. He won’t step in when their struggling, he will step in when they start to look like a legitimate title contender (which they havent this year so far). First, they need to be healthy (Miller and Haslem) and they need to pick up some players for depth (Dampier and their MLE in the summer). Once these two things happen they will begin to be able to contend and then Riley will step in to steal a championship from another promising young coach (see Stan Van Gundy).

NYK2010ParticipantWade sux this year but Lebron will get all the blame.
Why does this team turn the ball over so much when they play half court.
Get a real PG not Wade and Lebron running the PG neither of them is Magic Johnson.
They take 2 many 3 pointers too.

IndianaBasketballParticipantYou can’t always blame the coach or the system… You have to blame the players.
I don’t see any improvement in LeBron’s game. He’s still the same dribble dribble dribble and then either shoot or pass it player he was in Cleveland. That’s not good for this team offensively in the half-court, unless Eddie House, James Jones, Udonis Haslem and Zydrunas Illgauskas are on the floor with him… And he didn’t sign in Miami to have success with role players. He signed there to have success with Wade and Bosh, and I don’t think he makes them better players.

I don’t think it’s fair to single out Lebron like that. What about how Wade’s played this year? What about Carlos Arroyo, who probably is the worst starting PG I’ve seen in NBA? And Joel Anthony, who also is along that worst starting C line? What about how Coach Spoelstra’s offense is basically isolation and kickouts, but nothing in the way of a true scheme? How can you say Lebron doesn’t make Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade better players? Is that really his job, since he’s not the PG despite possibly needing to be? I understand not liking Lebron or whatever, but what about everything going wrong on the team? I think Lebron’s play has been more of a bright spot than it’s been something you have to dissect negatives for to put blame on. He still doesn’t have as strong a post game or mid-range as he should, but I mean, he’s easily been the best player on the Heat and it’s hardly his fault they are struggling like they are. You have to look at the weak supporting cast and EXTREMELY shaky and unimaginative coaching on Coach Spoelstra’s part before criticizing Lebron. It’s honestly not even debatable IMO either.

Jlv2010put a curse on this team. I think it’s time to realize that Lebron is hurting this team more than he’s helping. One hour special + Leprincess= 8-6. It doesn’t get any lower than losing to the Pacers 🙁

stanford hoopslol@lebron is to blame or hurting the team. yeah we clearly know who the haters of lebron are. lebron has been the only consistent player on the team. wade plays great one game then doesn’t show up another, same with bosh yet some wanna say lebron is the problem even though hes the only one who shows up every night on offense and defense. Please explain how that makes any sense.

NYK2010ParticipantLook at Wade he can’t shoot he just seems to turn the ball over. Also on replays they show him standing at the 3 pt linen watching as guys are battling for the ball inside. Yeah Lebron is to blame as well but at least he’s making some shots. They have to learn to play w/out the ball, since they made this plan to play together since 2008 you’d think they’d learn to together. Chris Mullin had a good idea put 1 of them in the post. They need a legit PG doesn’t need to be a stud but an average PG would be huge for them. They do need a PG who can penetrate and dish the ball he doesn’t have to be a guy who dominates the ball.

RUDEBOY_Participant1st of all they have 2 of the top 3 players in the nba surrounded by the worst point guard, the worst center,an experienced coach and the worst bench in the league…
And Lebron & Wade are exactly the same on offense..Their games sometimes cancels out the other guy’s game..If you notice the team plays better whenever 1 of those guys arent in the game together…And the coach hasnt learned to take advantage of it..This team is built to run, instead they walk the ball up allowing the defense time to set up..Then they expect Wade or Lebron to play hero..When they dont have a shot they jack up a 3 and pray that it goes in..
This experiment will take some time.. I say after xmas they should have an idea of what their roles are…

IndianaBasketballParticipant"I don’t think it’s fair to single out Lebron like that. It’s honestly not even debatable IMO either."
So… I haven’t criticized anybody else on the Heat, except LeBron? I haven’t criticized Bosh, Wade, Arroyo and Spoelstra too? I didn’t just post that I didn’t like the Heat’s supporting cast and the way the stars complimented each other? You’re clearly picking and choosing what you want to respond to, because I’ve called it like I’ve seen it.
Of course LeBron (and the head coach) is going to get a lot of blame. He’s the best player and leader on the team… He’s supposed to be the best player in the NBA. He did a lot of talking this summer, but I don’t see any improvement in his game and that’s the truth. Wade and Bosh have struggled as well, but they’re making the biggest adjustment it seems… Adjusting to play off of the ball and play off of LeBron. The entire Heat team looks to be playing off of LeBron. LeBron dominating the ball doesn’t work for this team, but when he’s not dominating the ball… He’s nowhere near as good.
You don’t think it’s LeBron’s job to make his teammates better??? It wasn’t Jordan’s job to make his teammates better? Kobe doesn’t make his teammates better? Whether you’re a point guard or not is irrellivant in regard to making your teammates better. I don’t get what you mean here…

marcusfizer21ParticipantThat’s why I always believe that HE SHOULD HAVE NEVER LEFT CLEVELAND… That team was built for LeBron and to compliment his game… Joining a fellow ball dominant player was just puzzling and they find themselves struggling to win now… Basketball is a 5 on 5 game with a 12 man roster… I always felt that had he stayed in Cleveland, he would have won games or even a championship had he been patient… They have a deeper bench compared to the Heat now and it’s really a bad situation offering huge huge contracts to only 3 players whereas they could have used Bosh’ contract for complimentary pieces…
I know it’s early in the season and most likely the Heat will start winning but it’s really not hard to observe that these guys are having a hard time meshing together… UNLIKE the big three in Boston where they clicked right from the get go…

JNixonParticipantYou singled him out in that last post. You said, I don’t see any improvement in Lebron’s game and he’s not making Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh better. That’s not his responsibility. He pretty much is what he is. What would the problem be with him not getting better? It’s really not his fault that the Heat are struggling as it is that everyone else isn’t playing at a high level. He’s the bright spot. You might have said something about the rest of the players a little, but you literally gave the blunt of the criticism to Lebron, as you always do. There is much more wrong with the Heat than Lebron James.

Lebron’s job isn’t to make Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh better. They have to step up on their own. They are getting good shots, but Wade has struggled badly and so has Bosh to an extent. I’d go as far as to say Lebron is getting them more than a fair share of chances to play well, even though it’s not even really his role to make elite level guys like them better. He’s made all the other shaky members enough chances to do whatever they need to do to, they just aren’t producing with the exception of guys like James Jones. There is only so much Lebron can do lol. The players besides Bosh and Wade simply aren’t that good

IndianaBasketballParticipant“I know it’s early, but that Heat offense stinks. And they weren’t too good defensively tonight either.”
“Wade was 1-13 today. Just 3 points.”
“You can’t always blame the coach or the system… You have to blame the player(s) (<=== Plural)."
Once again… How did I single out LeBron James? You can't just go off of one post in the entire thread lol. And in other threads, I've criticized Bosh and Wade, without saying anything about LeBron. I've criticized Arroyo as well.
I don't see any improvement in LeBron's game. I'm just being honest. Where has he improved? How has HE adjusted his game to fit in with Wade and Bosh? IF he had a post game, that'd help this team A LOT. IF he had any other type of game that allowed him to be effective without the ball in his hands, it'd really benefit this team, but he doesn't. Everything is through the dribble just like it was in Cleveland, and that won't work on this team (unless he's on the floor with House, Jones/Miller, Big Z, etc). I'm just calling it like I see it. This Heat offense is really stagnant, which falls on the coach's shoulders, BUT… LeBron's as well, since he has the ball in his hands more than anybody else on the team.
Making your teammates better doesn't always mean passing them the ball or putting them into positions to score…

andxxxParticipantno offense indianabasketball, but you’re putting way too much blame on Lebron’s shoulders. Its not his fault Wade’s been awful lately and Bosh isnt rebounding like he use to. I’m also starting to feel Erik Spoelstra should have more blame than he’s had. I was reading the "Jordan Rules" recently and Jordan was not about making his teammates better, he felt him dominating the ball was the best way to win it wasn’t until Phil Jackson came and urged MJ to pass up the ball and trust his teammates when the Bulls started winning championships.
I agree Lebron does dominate the ball, but so did Jordan at first and Jordan and Pippen did not have perfectly complimentary games on offense, but they made it work. Lebron has not yet had a coach with the guts to tell him not to dominate the ball and if you watch the heat play its basically one of the big 3 isolate and the rest stand around and watch. The coach has more responsibility than you think when it comes to the heat
