rileymcshea3ParticipantThe main evolution I see is the growing amount of teams you like each year.

Lotto StudParticipantThroughout the years rosters changed as they always do. The teams I listed had a nice nucleus whether they were highly ranked or not. If you are able to go as far back like I did, you would know those teams were legit to an extent. I was then and still am a true follower of good ball even before I chose 1 team.

ChewyParticipantFirst you pick your team (usually this is pushed upon you by geographical location and peer pressure at an early age).
For example, a 3rd grader in Kansas wouldn’t color the Jayhawk picture that her teacher gave her because she was a Wildcat fan.
Then you can go out and watch other teams and appreciate them, but they can’t ever be “your team.”
FYI to respond to the original post….
Kenyon Martin was the most dominate player I have ever seen in college (I’m fairly young so don’t go old school names on me. I know Pistol Pete but I never watched him)
That Illini team would have won easily the next year if they had the same team. They were just unlucky running into a whip of a UNC team.
I loved the Bibby/Simon backcourt of Zona
Bynum was sick in college (happy he carved out a nice cereer with the Pistons) but Muhammed always had the best highlights.
Is Zoubek the worst starting C to win a national championship?
I can’t believe KU made it to the finals with the team they had, but everyone knew they couldn’t compete with the eyebrow.

Lotto StudParticipantYou absolutely hit the nail on the coffin! I was brought up around the time it was really good. And that Cincy team had guys like Helicopter Levett, Reuben Patterson was fun to watch. Just that whole late 90s era did it for me as a kid.
Now as far as Illinois since you brought them up, they were decent to watch when they had Frank Williams the previous year.

ChewyParticipantSteve Logan was my favorite player for at least 2 years (it wasn’t until later that I developed my hate for Bob Huggins and his lack of intrest in his player’s academics or gneral well being.
Frank Williams and Sergio were both good, but Brian Cook was soft in HS, soft in College and soft in the NBA.
But, Dee Brown, Deron, Luther, Augustine and Powell would have won it all the following year. Luther Head had no buisness being an NBA player before Weber came along. Self recruited all those guys, but Weber coached the crap out of em.
I remember loving Mateen Cleaves, Mo Pete and Z-Bo on MSU (Their jerseys were ugly as hell tho).
The whole Luke Reker (sp?) drama of Indiana-Iowa-and off the court stuff was unbelievable.
