or ‘football’ is and always will be the worlds top sport. The world cup is the greatest sports event ever made (have fun with 2nd place Olympics). One of the main attractions for soccer is that A. It is cheap. You need a ball and…well your set. B. the point I think is more important is that you don’t have to be a physical freak to compete in soccer. You need height even in euro bball. Thats why most young kids lean towards soccer around the world because they can stay competitive for longer and grow to love the sport more.

Premier League stars get more press and sponsers and grief than Jersey Shore, Kardashians and any american athlete not named Lebron combind.

the person who named our sport Football should be kicked in the balls! The name was already taken by european soccer, come up with any other name you un original d!ck. You don’t even kick the ball in "foot"ball. What about throwball or catchball or runball?

Ya all of those options sound stupid but so does soccer and football… we just got used to it.

On a COMPLETE SIDENOTE: the womens basket should be lowered to 8 and 1/2 or 9 feet. Then change the name to ‘hoopball’ so that it is a "different" sport like how softball is different from baseball.

Basketball is better but the problem with it is that all of the best players in the come to the NBA so their quality of basketball in Europe ,China, South America etc. Is not as high as the quality of soccer players in those places make soccer the more attractive sport.

My solution: Put a hard salary cap on the NBA, so NBA owners can’t overspend, meaning some NBA players will go to other countries increasing the quality of basketball in that country.

That would be a good start if basketball hopes to overtake soccer as the worlds No1 sport.

I actually never liked the name football either and thought it should be called Pigskin, Turfball, or Tackleball.  I heard them names somewhere and always liked them.

But As long as you have a net Basketball is the funnest sport to play by yourself by far I think.  I don’t find it much fun kicking a ball against a ball.  But I could practice my basketball dribbling and shooting all day.

It will be hard for basketball to overtake soccer mainly because soccer is easily accessible to ANYONE in the world. All you need is a soccer ball and that’s it. 3rd world countries can produce quality athletes as easy as the rich countries because of this unlike other sports. Basketball is almost as accessible, but not as easy as soccer is.
