Potential all star, just don’t count on him in the slam dunk contest.

I have always felt that Gordon’s play was underrated by many people; I thought he really showed up to play during those practices and definitely during the exhibition game.

you have to think the 4th ones gotta be one of the point guards. They can’t go with DRose, Westbrook, Billups, Rondo and Curry lol. Its probably gonna be between Rondo and Westbrook. Personally I would go with Westbrook just because he can play sg lol

I knew evans was going to get beause of the angle injury imo his game dont translate in international play i thought may o had a good chance because he can really shoot the ball im not suprise he got cut because he is a streaky shooter and he he need the ball to get his points im excited for gordon because he is underrated and call ball forreal the casual basktball gets to see him more if he makes team and he shoot the lights off i agree with iggy clippers fans are smiling everywhere.

Gerald Wallace why was he there he’s a solid player but i knew he was going to get cut.

Wallace had no chance lol…I could tell. He looked out of place in the scrimmage too. He was far too ineffective in the half-court sets.

yeah in international play i thing wallace wouldve been a very good defender on the 3 or the 4 like tayshaun prince was for the redeem team.

I really don’t understand why so many of the so called “experts” had EJ getting cut. I’m consistently baffled at the amount of people who continue to sleep on him.

He’s always been a no-brainer pick to me. He’s an unselfish team player and shoots the deep ball well. His length, athleticism, strength and physical style of play at guard will make him successful in the FIBA style of play.

There is another cut, he hasn’t completely made the team yet. Just a heads up.

I’ve always considered him a lock to at least survive the first cut and be a part of the 15 invited to NY.

He’s not a lock to make the final 12 headed to Turkey, but I think he has a great chance. As I’ve been saying, he’s style of play is perfect for FIBA. He’s also the only true two guard remaining on the roster. Would the USA really go to Turkey without at least one true two guard?

I think the final 12 will be:

    Billups, Rose and Rondo
    Curry and Gordon
    Durant, Gay and Iguodala
    Chandler, Lopez, Odom and Love

ive thought all along gordan would make it. I also thought mayo wold make it as well though, i wasnt buying the one or the other talk. But now i see either rondo or westbrook having to go. Possibly granger or gay. And either mcgee, lopez or love.

He has a real good chance now that Mayo is out of the way. He’s pretty much a lock now

I think Rondo gets in over Westbrook, and Gay should easily beat out Granger. They’ve been raving about Gay since last summer.

McGee is probably gone (he shouldn’t be though), and Love and Lopez probably are in

i think westbrook vs rondo will be close. Westbrook plays better off the ball. He gets into lanes and slashes and gets out and runs. Rondo has to have th ball in his hands to be effective. Hes better defensively, but if they dont put the ball in his hands all the time, then westbrook has a better impact on hte game.

I think Rondo gets the nod over Westbrook. I think Rondo brings more leadership, maturity and understanding of how to get others involved.

Westbrook can play both guard spots, BUT so can Billups and Curry.

I had McGee in over Lopez at first, but after reading what llperez said the other day, I think he may be right. McGee is young and inexperienced. Lopez isn’t the shot blocker or athlete, but I think he may be the better pick. Lopez had been sick for awhile, which explains his poor play on Sat.

I think Granger would be a better fit for FIBA than Gay, but I can’t see them giving him the nod. He’ll really have to play great to convince them to put him on over Gay.

But why should they keep both Curry and Billups? Curry is a great shooter, but I really don’t like the idea of him playing shooting guard from a defensive standpoint. I think they will either keep McGee or Lopez, with Lopez getting the nod because of his offensive skill set(Though I personally think they should keep McGee). The U.S.A. officials likely feel that Chandler and Mcgee are too similiar, and that there is no reason to keep on to two foul prone, raw and freak athlete centers(I disagree though). But I also don’t like the idea of Westbrook and Rondo sharing the backcourt because of the lack of a three point threat. Team would just stay back, making it more difficult to score.
Therefore, I think their depth chart should be:
    pg: Rondo, Rose, Billups
sg: Gordon,Westbrook(I think he should primarily play with Billups on the floor)
    sf: Durant, Gay, Iguodala
    pf:Love, Odom
c: Chandler, Mcgee(Lopez’s role would be overrated on the team, I feel like shot blocking centers are more the way to go. Besides, Love can play center at the world level, too.)

I seriously have a hard time seeing Westbrook making the team over Curry, but I agree with the lineup besides that.

Westbrook provides alot of what Rondo does, and you can never have too many shooters who can play both guard spots like Curry. Curry can play with Chauncey Billups too, better than Westbrook can offensively.

I know they’re high on him, but I don’t know why Curry is a lock. I know he can shoot and has a high basketball IQ on offense, but I worry about him on defense. I also don’t know if he’ll be effective with the physical play.

I’d have no problem with a guard group of:

Rose, Rondo and Westbrook – Tough to deal with all three of them for 40 minutes.

Billups and Gordon – Two strong, physical and powerfully built guards who can shoot and drive.

I feel like Curry can shoot better than anyone on the team, which along with his smarts and ability to play both guard spots should make him a lock.

Westbrook is like Rondo, but a bit more erratic. No reason to keep him over someone like Curry, who can do so much for the team offensively, especially since you can keep Rondo. The competition should be Rondo and Westbrook, since they provide the same things.

this does not signal out that gordan is a better player then mayo. If rondo gets cut, is curry or gordan all the sudden better then him? Styles are a big part of what interantional ball is about, not just the 12 best players.

There is a difference between international basketball and the NBA. Coach K felt Gordon was better for the team. This doesn’t prove that Gordon is better than Mayo as an NBA basketball player, so don’t base him making the FIBA team on that.

Mayo proved to be a slightly better player this past season in actual NBA games, even if they are extremely close in just about everything they bring to the table.

EDIT: Yeah, what llperez said lol.

its positional based llperez. and i dont think mayo got cut just because of the FIBA game, its cuz Gordon out performed him in the USA camp. gordon and mayo are similar enough where it does mean that but rondo is completely different that curry cuz curry will play sg for USA and is a completely opposite player. name guys left off of team usa in 08 that were better than a few players on the that roster. u can’t cuz other than prince and redd, those were the best.

Also, i claimed gordon should and would make it so I was right about that anyway so don’t try and make me sound wrong. everyone said mayo over gordon for team usa but me and tezo said gordon over mayo and we were right.

i never commented on any team usa talk between mayo and gordan in the past until recently and i have said both should make it.

But no, making the team does not mean that gordan is better. Mayo likes to go one on one a lot and sometimes overdribbles or takes bad shots. Gordan is a more willing role player who will take quality shots and run the court. THats honestly why i htink he made it over mayo.

I think both players are close, but give me mayo. I have said that all along and im not ready to change my mind on that. Using this team USA scenario to act like it proves somehting is inaccurate.
