sitlbitoParticipantOn to day 2 of eurobasket after some thrilling games in day 1. Today’s highlighted by a Serbia-Germany to start the day in Berlin at 9 am eastern(little early for you americans maybe). Russia-Poland,Netherlands-Macedonia will start at the same time,Estonia-Belgium half an hour earlier.
The next wave of game will start at 11.30 am eastern with Latvia-Lithuania(the atmosphere will be insane in Riga,Latvia. Two teams won yesterday,a win will almost mean qualification),and Finland-Israel in Montpellier(less insane), At noon eastern Italy will have to take care of business against Iceland after their loss yesterday against Turkey, while Slovenia will face Georgia in Zagreb, group C,both teams that lost their first game.
At 2.30 pm eastern, Ukraine will face the Czech republic, while France should get their second win of the tournament against Bosnia at 3 pm eastern. Finally the best games of the day maybe:Greece-Croatia and Turkey-Spain(One of them will certainly be on espn 3).

sitlbitoParticipantSerbia(2-0) 68-66 Germany(1-1). Thanks to a game winning floater by future Timberwolf Bjelica. Pleiss and Nowitzki had 15 each,Dirk added 10 rebounds. Bjelica led the way for Serbia with 12.
Poland(2-0) 82-79 Russia(0-2). Wascynski had 23,Gortat 18. Zubkov had 21 for Russia
Belgium(1-1) 84-55 Estonia(0-2). Estonia is by far the worst team of the tournament. Not even close to being competitive
Macedonia(1-1) 78-71 Netherlands(1-1)

XYRYXParticipantThe Germans came as close as it get’s but the T-Wolves new big man had his 2nd strong game and a floater over Pleiss 0.9 sec before the horn gave Serbia the win in the end. Bjelica is really a stunning signing for the Wolves, ready to contribute and still a young guy to grow along Garnett, Payne and Bennett! Schröder was also solid in a relatively low scoring game after Serbia was horrible from the floor in the first half.
Russia really came short again and is almost sure already out. This might be a very close group in the end and Spain should really win the next 2 or they are in really big trouble…

sitlbitoParticipantLast results of the day:
Czech Republic(2-0) 78-64 Ukraine(0-2). The czech are impressive,I don’t know if these opponents are really bad(Estonia was),or if they’re actually a olympic qualifier candidate(quarter finals).
Spain(1-1) 104-77 Turkey(1-1). Gasol had 21.
France 81-54 Bosnia. Les Bleus are back. De Colo and Lauvergne led the way with 12,balanced attack for France.
Greece 72-70 Croatia. Without Bogdanovic Croatia choked at the end. They led by 10 early in the 4th,then Greece wet on a 21-9 run to win it in Zagreb. Greece has a freeway to finish 1st in the group.

froggyParticipantGreat game from France, while resting their best players during the last quarter. NBA related Player by player analysis :
- Tony Parker : Seems healthy which is quite rare 🙂 Can’t defend even at euro level but is so skilled on the other end of the floor… Became the best scorer of the history of Eurobasket, tying Nick Galis.
- Nicolas Batum : he’s gaining back his confidence lost in Portland last year. I think he will bounce back in Charlotte. He can create his own shoot, or set up teamates. Amazing defender on and off the ball.
- Nando De Colo : Amazing shooter, I wonder why he did not succeed as a back up point guard in SA and Toronto. Has all the offensive skillset for a scoring combo guard but can’t defend (Parker and De Colo were atrocious yesterday against Finland)
- Boris Diaw : Is the main playmaker
- Rudy Gobert : They don’t feed him much inside but I think he could be dominant playing against (mostly) slow and unathletic centers. Has made TREMENDOUS improvements this year, especially regarding fouls. Had a crazy reverse dunk off a Diaw pass. I think he would excel paired with a power forward who can pass the ball in Utah
- Evan Fournier : I think he is a bit frustrated being a substitute in this team. Fouls a lot and does not defend very well off the ball. He can create for himself and teamates. Typical role player
- Joffrey Lauvergne : he is the biggest surprise for me. Every year he adds new parts to his game. He sanked 3 long jumpers. Great offensive rebounder and finisher. And he is only 23 ! Could be a 12pts/7rbds player in the NBA very soon (especially in Denver 🙂 )
- Mouhammadou Jaiteh : I understood why he went undrafted during last draft. Looks very slow, questionnable hands and post game while I thought these were his strong skills

sitlbitoParticipantI only watched the end of that game, and I saw Hezonja chuck 3 pointer after 3 pointer, without success. He’ll need to learn when he can shoot, and which shots he has to take.

BornaskulParticipantYup, he tried to be the hero, but he is not the leader of the team ,not yet at least , he missed an open Tomic and took a tough shot. But it is nice to see he is brave and not afraid to take the big shots.

sitlbitoParticipantYep he also had an emphatic block on Bourousis and a nice floater to take the lead back at 67-66 at the end of the game.
