llperezthis was in the magazine. They polled 30 of the top prospects likely to be drafted in this years draft. Here are some of the questions and results:
best player?-john wall. Evan turner also got 8 first place votes.
team with toughest/easiest workout?-heat =toughest. bulls=easiest
when first contacted by an agent? 90% said they were contacted before their college eligibility was up.
most overrated player in draft?-Daniel Orton. One player said "this guy couldnt even start in college and he’s top 20?"
traits/skills underrated the most by scouts?-resume. Scouts put too much stock in potential and combine/workout results and forget what the player has proven on the court in actual games.
traits/skills most overrated by scouts?-size/wingspan measurments.
ideal team to be drafted by?-san antonio spurs. "you get to learn from the best there" one player said.
least ideal team to be drafted by?-the bucks

MagikKnickParticipantlol, thats interesting…
Wonder what players made that comment about Orton, and wonder if any of his fellow ex-teammates voted for him, lol
I would wanna play with Brandon Jennings, but I guess Milwaukee isnt necessarily a NBA hotspot

Michael.S.ParticipantI love reading these types of things. It give you a players perspective and we can compare and contrast our thoughts with theirs. I find it interesting that they thought SA was an ideal fit seeing how their young guys that would enjoy a more city like enviorment

llperezim guessing eric bledsoe made the orton comment. They are both fighting to move up the draft, lol. There were some other questions too but i thought they were stupid like "who do you want to dunk on" or "rate how fun the draft process is on a scale of 1-10"

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantIn defense of Orton…. Calipari didn’t recruit him so he didn’t receive the minutes of his own recruits (or the money). Orton has brains, skills and size.

llperezim not judging orton at all. I think he has a chance to be a solid big man and i can see why teams drafting outside the lottery would role the dice on him. Just some senior player who did work for 4 years being jealous most likely.

BlueLacesParticipantI don’t understand what everyone’s beef is with Milwaukee. It is a great sports town and the fans really love their teams there. Many people judge it by what they read/see without actually spending any time there.

llperezaccording to the comment fromm one annonynous player about milwaukee, he said somehting along the lines of the bucks are always young and its hard for a rookie to learn anything there.

DanEboyParticipantI lived in Milwaukee for 3 years….it’s crazy fun if you are in college…otherwise, everyone I know who lives there wants to leave.

TRC1991Participantit doesnt surprise me that they feel the most underrated aspect is the resumes…EVERYONE besides nba scouts think resumes are more important than credited
p.s. the guys that feel resumes are overlooked too much are the blue-collar type guys with not much upside..they’re just defending their case
