BennyLogParticipantI dont have insider so i cant read the article.has anyone read it? And what would the magic have to give up to get him? Im not sure i would want to blow up the team to get him and im personally high on payton gordon and hezonja being a big part of our future.. If its like a Vuc harris oladipo combo i would be ok with that but i dont think that would make sensei like Griffin but im not sure he is worth the price

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantTo keep it short and sweet the trade idea was Blake griffin for cj Watson, Jason smith, Channing frye, and either Aaron Gordon or victor oladipo, with the likely young guy being Evan fournier in the trade

machu46ParticipantTo clarify, it said that the Clippers would push for Gordon or Oladipo while Orlando would push to include Fournier instead of them.
I would think the Clippers don’t touch this hypothetical deal though.

BennyLogParticipantI would do that as a magic fan but would hope to keep Gordon. I think he will be a stud and has a way higher ceiling than oladipo or Fournier. Imagine griffin and gordon on the court at the same time? Insane athletic. Ability and size. Makes no sense for the clippers though so i doubt they do it unless they really just want to get rid of him

daggers818ParticipantGriffin for Gordon, Fournier, and Frye.
Kind of a nice trade for both teams. Clips get nice frontline depth, replace Griffin’s bounce with Gordon’s while improving defensively, and plug Fornier into the wing position. Frye is a nice stretch big the Clippers lack. Clips would need to resign Fournier as a RFA for much more money.
Magic gets the best player in the trade, a top ten player in Griffin, prime of career, and creates room for Hezonja to eventually emerge. Oladipo can settle into the two guard role. Griffin can opt out after 2017 so some risk there.

BennyLogParticipantIf im the magic i dont trade gordon unless they can guarantee Griffin will stay long term.i am very high on Gordon and feel hes a huge part of their future. More so than oladipo.im also high on hezonja and i like Fournier so thats why i think oladipo is expendable.

TeslaBallerParticipantWhy is Aaron Gordon stopping them from making this trade or Oladipo for that matter?
We’ve seen that Oladipo can’t shoot and it’s almost impossible to have him and Payton as a starting backcourt playing major minutes together. So 1 of them has to go. Pick 1 and look to trade the other while their value is still high.
Aaron Gordon looks promising but I don’t see him developing into Blake Griffin. Without any handle or jumpshot Gordon’s potential is really limited. Griffin has already developed his jumpshot.
Orlando is getting the best player in the trade, now and for the foreseeable future. You have to give something in order to get something. Giving up Oladipo or Gordon in return for Griffin is worth it. Add in Fournier who you probably can’t afford to resign and would lose for nothing. You would much rather resign Griffin with that money down the road. Harris and Vuc are signed for 4-5 years. Payton and Mario are still on cheap rookie deals.
After the trade your looking at a core of Vuc, Griffin, Harris, Mario and Payton. Plus whomever you don’t trade in Gordon or Oladipo.
If I’m Orlando I tell the Clippers take your pick Gordon or Oladipo, have Fournier and whoever else makes the salaries work. I want Griffin…and toss me a 2nd rd pick 3 years from now. Okay I’m getting greedy with the pick, fine Doc no pick.
I have to believe the Clippers are just hesitant to trade Blake Griffin.

BennyLogParticipantI agree if they are confident they can get griffin to stay in Orlando give them gordan. My point is if its a gamble and they arent confident he will stay i would rather give up oladipo. Im not sure if you watch the magic on a regular basis but you can see Gordon improving every game thats why im so high on him. Oladipo doesnt seem like hes getting much better and is somewhat regressing. I think Gordon’s issues are more just being young and getting more confidence. His jump shot has improved and his ball handling problems are more just the jitters IMO. Either way if we do get Griffin he will be out another month so making the playoffs may be out of the question so now were looking at possibly another lottery pick to add to the mix. So as great as having Griffin sounds it doesnt make much sense if we cant sign him long term.

TeslaBallerParticipantAdmittedly I’m not an Orlando fan and haven’t seen Gordon a whole lot. I worry if he’s just a classic tweener like Derrick Williams and won’t develop the jumpshot or handle to be a reliable SF and he’s obviously not growing into a true low post power forward. So while I understand Orlando fans would rather give up Oladipo, giving up Gordon instead isn’t a deal breaker in my mind.
