Chicago1980ParticipantI love NBA basketball but I wish ESPN/ABC didnt have the rights to the NBA their brodcast sucks. The announcers are horrible besides Hubie Brown and the whole crew is the worst. They need to stick to TNT and get it back on NBC those were the days. NBA on NBC was the best just my thoughts.

mikeyvthedonParticipantThis man speaketh the truth! ESPN/ABC does a very poor job of broadcasting basketball games. Their announcers and "specialists" are weak sauce. TNT does a MUCH better job, and their staff is much more fun to watch, plus more informative. Believe me, their are people I dislike on TNT, but nowhere near how much I dislike the alternative. But, damn, do I miss the good old days on NBC. They made basketball special, just some formula they used, maybe John Tesh’s theme song hypnotized us into liking them.

Chicago1980ParticipantThats true whenever I heard that NBA on NBC theme song I was ready to watch some basketball and they had some of the best announcers and the NBC crew knew basketball. Im not saying that the ESPN/ABC crew dont know ball but theres just something missing. I love watching NBA on TNT its fun and it just feels like basketball but theres just something missing from the ESPN/ABC broadcast.

omphalosParticipantI’m not sure what the broadcast is like in the U.S., but over here in Australia ESPN and ESPN mysteriously went from showing two games a week during regular season to just one playoff game a week and five or so live baseball games. I don’t understand how the playoffs get no love, I’m just glad I’ve got league pass.

M-DYMESParticipantIts b/c ABC and TNT both get to broadcast select playoff games. ESPN only gets its fair share, i forget what their percentage or number of games is.

Toronto16ParticipantI don’t mind the announce team of Jeff Van Gundy, Mark Jackson and Mike Breen. But TNT is definitely head and shoulders better.

WizardofOzParticipantBut we’re stuck with ABC for at least 5 more years. I believe they signed a contract that last up to 2016 a few years ago to broadcast the NBA. 🙁

kaceyParticipantI think the crew of Mark Jackson, JVG, and Breen is awful. I can’t stand them. Too much non-basketball stuff gets brought up, and Mark and Jeff talk about their time together in NY way too much.
Breen to me, seems like he tries way to hard to be this great play by play guy. Harlan is the man. So is Gus Johnson, although he doesn’t do NBA games. Speaking of Gus, he left CBSsports, how is CBS going to let him leave?

mikeyvthedonParticipantI thought I was alone! I guess people think they are funny, who knows, but I think Mark Jackson is one of the worst announcers of all-time. I used to hate Van Gundy more, but I find that he has gotten better with age, but Mark Jackson has a license to babble. He is a schmoe.
What would convince people that Mark Jackson could coach a basketball team? What I ask you? He thinks everything that comes out of his mouth is brilliant, even though it is usually one of the more stupid things I have heard in a long time. Kills me man. Glad to finally have someone agree, I thought I was going crazy. I am all for debate, but they debate about some of the most pointless and trivial things on earth.
I guess Mark thought shooters were born because his jumper sucked eggs. Well, they are not, you ridiculous talking head. Brilliant.

Chicago1980ParticipantMark Jacson is the worst what kills me is that he was even mentioned for the Knicks job when it was open. He has no coaching experience at all and people were considering him for jobs it made no sense to me and like I said before he is one of the worst commentators on tv just terrible.
