The Announcers don’t say the players names enough for me to keep my own boxscore going. I just put 5 players I’m following.

ok half time and so far the game is pretty bad…cdr is playing pretty well..getting into the lane and looking to score..jru had a nice shot but thats pretty much it..hes showing more and more that he is not a point guard…maynor looks pretty solid with the drives and dish..jru cant stay in front of him ..he gets in the lane and dish or finds a man cutting..hes gonna make alot of jazz fans happy as a back up point guard

Remember this is just summer league. Yeah Holiday has sucked so far but there is only so much you can take from these games.

    I HEART MAYNOR!

is it too early to put the “BUST” tag across Jrue’s forehead?

This guy was suppose to be the best defensive guard in the whole draft, and his offense was excused because he played out of position, Maynor is running all over him and isnt setting his teammates up as often as i expected from him..

The Scrapples last two possessions were horrible. Screen set, but dribbles off Augustine’s knee which leads to an uncontested Dunk then after a missed layup that had very little defense against.

im not taking holidays stats seriously but i am taking the way he runs the point which looks bad..hes not finding the open man or controlling the offense or the other things point guards do…dwill didnt have the best of summer leauges but you could tell he was a pg and knew how to handle the position..holiday has only showed that hes a shooting guard that is forced to play the pg..you can tell a point guard without the satsts and holiday is not a pg liek i said time and time again over and over again months ago but most people chewed my head off..even though he didnt play pg in highschool or college…..liek i said back then..i only go by the facts

watched the second half, and i thought Holiday played all right. He got into the lane at will just struggled finishing. He put good pressure on the ball and forced some turnovers. He was looking for his teammates, guys just did’nt finish. He ran down a loose ball and made a nice behind the back pass to the trailer. The way you guys were talking, I thought he would look like he did’nt belong out there.

how am i biased..im not the only one watching the game..i wasnt the only person saying he didnt look like a point guard..and read other peopels comments as well as listen to the announcers also watching the game..he had moments but the who game is what matters not moments..if anything you would be biased to be for holiday no matter how bad he plays..facts are facts…ask everyone who watched the game and then im curious to see what excuse you will use

no being biased is when no matter how good a player does some one still doesnt like them..i gave holiday his props for certain things he did..im not gonna lie and say he can do something hes shown he cant..that wouldnt be a good scouting reporyt..i like terrence williams but i said he looked horrible…i used to not like tyer hansbohro at all but hes swayed me to become a believer..see unlike alot of ya’ll u have to show me in order to believe..im not gonna give excuses about coach or system im a if you can do it show me guy and im not gonna give a bunch of excuses just because i like a player

i think the main point is….we all know that you don’t think that Jrue is a good PG. You were very right in pointing out that Jrue didn’t technically play PG in HS. I didn’t know that; thanks for pointing that out.

That said, this also means that, if you are correct, this is Jrue’s first time playing PG at any level. This point, combined with the fact that he is playing in his SECOND game with a bunch of RANDOM guys, most of whom aren’t even on his team, AND the fact that he is almost certainly the youngest person on the court (he just turned 19 last month and that is the age minimum for the NBA) shows just how much potential he has. the fact that this is his first time ever playing PG, that he is doing it with random people and his age, yet he still looks like he belongs, that sounds like potential to me.

    He’s a smart guy, I think he’ll pick-up on things in time.

We know you don’t think he’s a PG, we get it. Only time will tell.

oh i never said he doesnt belong though..he look slike he could be a good combo guard..shot horribly but at least hes not scred to put it up..also lays pretty good defense…but ive said all this already int he other post after the game yesterday..the point guard thing has nothing to do with him gettign aslot of assists or teammates..you can just watch a guy whos playing the pg spot and see the lil things that shows they are a pg..creating shots for teammates even if they dont make it..drive and kick out things like that..holiday just dribbled out top and pass to the wing..when he did drive he looked to shoot 90precent of the time…now his counter part eric maynor who i have never seen play before looked just liek a pg..even the announcers saw it..ever thing i said about both in my last post is no different then wahat the announcers said..maynor looks like hes gonna be a solid back up pg..jru doesnt look like he has the instincts or ability of a pg…just stating the obvious that others saw

generally speaking, would you expect PG skills/abilities/instincts to improve or get worse with more time and experience? how long has Eric Maynor been playing PG? a lot longer than jrue. give him a chance before you completely write him off. You say all the time that you haven’t seen anything…. that’s cuz this is his second game playing PG. Sometimes you have to see things before they happen……. i’m not saying you’re right or wrong, we just don’t know yet.

that is a great point xbadger.

I think Jrue will develop into a solid PG in time.

I only saw the second half of todays game and I saw like 4 plays where he drove and kicked to an open teammate. He also had a couple nice passes in the open court. But that game was so ugly that it is hard to take much away from it. Dudes were running into each other and CDR looked like he was determined to shoot about 30 times.

Only time will tell with Holiday as far as what he can do in the league. But I keep hearing people like Josh and others compare him with guys that have been in college for 4 years or whatever. Holiday clearly looks better with the ball in his hands and the pg instincts should only get better.

i didnt say he had to be super..he didnt show the basic skill sets of a pg..hey its not just my words..yall can continue to hope for him to become one all you want just giving mine and other peoples opinion..yall can take it for what its worth or not…i m not gonna continue to argue for the 2 games on top of highschool and college career so yall are more then welcome to continue this disscussion between each other..im moving on to the current game being played now

Bias: prejudice (preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience) in favor of or against one thing, group, or person, usually in a way considered unfair.

    let’s break it down:

prejudice (as you said, this is his first time playing PG so we can’t really have any actual experience on which to base your preconceived opinion of Jrue, which you have constantly pushed for like two months now.)

against one thing, group, or person (Jrue)

usually in a way considered unfair (why do you think that so many people step up to defend Jrue? because you’re being unfair in writing him off already. as you said this is his 2nd game)

As for your comment that I’m biased… you won’t find me RAVING about HOW AMAZING jrue is, the only time i discuss him is when you push your biased opinion about him. And, all I’ve ever said is that I think Jrue will at minimum be a solid role guy, who has the potential to be a starting PG. I don’t think that sounds far off from the truth, or biased.

also, just for the record. david thorpe’s two comments about holiday on his true hoop blog: 1. Holiday is finally attacking off the dribble and it’s made a big difference. 2. Holiday is not a finisher yet, but he will be. He’s big and craftier than you’d think.

id like to say i dont really care about holiday i dont hate him or love him and could care less
but with that said i think people almost baby his image
they say he hasnt played the point long, ucla wasnt a good fit, he will develope skills, he’ll get good instincts
yes some of this could and might become true but the fact of the matter is you cant keep making up excuses to defend his subpar play
right now clearly holiday is not that good of a player.

Im not surprised that Maynor looked better than Holiday. Maynor is a much better PG than Holiday will ever be! True PG’s are have been playing that positon usually there whole life. And its pretty easy to see that he is not a true point guard and he prolly will struggle for a while or his whole career trying to learn the position. Holiday doesnt seem to have that natural instint that true points usually have. Maynor will prolly look pretty soild against whoever he plays against b/c of the experience he has. Maynor was the last PG drafted out of the bunch and prolly will have a better career than most of them drafted in front of him!
