TarHeelRavenParticipantThis kid is simply outstanding. Ice water in his veins. He hits two free throws to give Cuse the lead late and then hits a pull-up 35 footer for the win against Pitt. Both Pitt-Cuse games were great, hard fought, intense physical old school Big East basketball games. Ennis isn’t more talented than Parker, Randle or Wiggins, but is the best freshman in the country. Poised and unflappable. Cuse goes to 24-0…

cuseflynn10ParticipantI may or may not have taken a couple laps around my couch screaming my head off fifteen minutes ago. Holy !@#%^&%^&*&%^. Talk about clutch, he hasn’t had a turnover in the final five minutes in 24 games and he puts the team on his back in every close game.
I said this a day or two ago, but Ennis could be a poor man’s Steve Nash (not just saying it because their both Canadian). Ennis has an insane assist to turnover ratio (it’s in the 4:1 to 5:1 range I think), he has a great hesitation move, a nice floater, he can finish at the rim, and he has a decent and developing shot. Ennis is 6’2 180 and Nash is about 6’3 180 so physically they are about the same. Nash was a great shooter, and I’m not sure Ennis ever reaches Nash’s shooting levels, but Ennis could be a steal if he gets taken around 15 just like where Nash was taken.

machu46ParticipantAs a Cuse fan, I love Ennis, but I don’t think he’ll ever be Steve Nash. Nash is arguably one of the best shooters of all-time, while Ennis is just an average shooter, and Nash is also one of the best passers of all-time, while Ennis is just solid. He’s a great college player, and I think he’ll be an alright NBA player, but he’s not really very similar to Nash at all. He’s just a really, really great floor general.
I don’t even think that’s a slight to Ennis. Nash is just one of the best offensive PGs we will ever see. I think Ennis can be a solid role player and potentially starting PG, but he’ll never be competing for NBA MVP awards like Nash. As of right now, he struggles to finish at the rim, is just an alright shooter, and while he never turns it over, he’s more of a guy that’s just good at running set plays rather than creating plays on his own. Nash could manipulate a defense and make the most ridiculous passes with ease. You don’t really see that with Ennis.
Regardless, I’m just gonna appreciate him while he’s here. This has already been an amazing season to watch/attend. Hopefully we can make a run in March.

cuseflynn10ParticipantI was thinking a poor man’s Nash would be his best case scenario. If he doesn’t reach that level which is tough even with the "poor man’s" label, I think Andre Miller or George Hill could be decent comparisons. I agree Ennis won’t be the shooter that Nash is and he may not be as flashy as him either, but he goes out there and gets the job done.

Scott42444ParticipantNash wasn’t one of the best shooters of all-time coming out of college either. He wasn’t even the best PG on his team for a couple seasons after he was drafted. I am not saying that Tyler Ennis will become as good as Nash, but comparing a teenager to a 40 year old in the shooting department seems silly to me. I understand your point, but if you compare Nash coming out of college with Tyler Ennis coming out of college you might take Ennis first.

machu46ParticipantHe shot over 40% from 3 on about 6 3PA per game in college. He was absolutely an elite shooter.

steviechillzParticipantThe guy should be a top 10 pick…guy isn’t monster athletic or anything, but he can lead a team at the PG position for sure!

cuseflynn10ParticipantThe only knock on him is his athleticism. He isn’t awful for now, but when he gets to the next level, he could use some more upper body strength to maintain his finishing ability. Adding more lateral quickness would help his defensive abilities, and I think he will definitely get to the NBA stronger and quicker.
Ennis’ intangibles are off the charts though. Boeheim says he barely even has to tell Tyler what to do since he is always under control. Instead of taking a fastbreak opportunity up a few points near the end of the game, Ennis knows the situation and pulls it out to kill clock. Not many freshmen point guards can do that. Heck, how many freshmen point guards have started their first twenty-four games without turning the ball over in the final five minutes. When the pressure is on, Ennis is at his best. He’s the definition of a floor general. He’s a pass first point guard, who kicks it into high gear when the games on the line. Out of all the freshmen in the country, he’s definitely the most polished. He may not have the highest ceiling, but you could definitely make a case for him having the highest floor.

arctuk02ParticipantI saw this on ESPN, his stats during final possesions of the game, 8-9 FG, 1-1 3pt, 14-14 FT, 6 assists and 0 turnovers. Talk about clutch

Sewok15ParticipantIt was funny because earlier in the game I was like Ennis isn’t really doing much…and then he did that.

CameronCrazy11ParticipantDoes anyone else think it’s a disgrace that LeBron’s game winner was number 1 on Sportscenter’s Top Ten instead of this shot? I don’t see how this is even a debate to be honest.

dcaseParticipantThere is no way Lebron’s game winner deserved the #1 spot over Ennis’s buzzer beater. That is simply an example of ESPN loving Lebron too much.

HOops1562ParticipantI agree Ennis shot was way more difficult …. Lebron had time to set and take that shot but Ennis had to rush up the court with 4.4 and heave a 35 foot game winner

JNixonParticipantMan, that was the biggest shot of their season and he DRAINED it from 35 ft with 2 people guarding him. He’s a real composed player for a young guy, and he plays like the game comes easy for him. I like him alot, especially how well he dictates the pace of the game.
