mds0549ParticipantJust read on Hoopshype that the Wolves and GState have talked about moving Monta Ellis to the Wolves for Pekovic and possibly Beasley. Personally, I would love to see Ellis as the sniper on the Wolves and I always thought that Beasley would be perfect for the Warriors. I can’t believe that I’m saying this but I really would hate to see Big Pek go but for Ellis it would be worth it. I wouldn’t want to see Williams as part of the deal because its time for Beasly to go and I don’t think they want to re-sign him so it would be like sending all three away.

NbanflguyParticipantIsnt Ellis really ball dominant though? Idk how we could have him and Rubio play together and I really like Pek right now. Idk how i feel about that trade.

mds0549ParticipantEllis is ball dominant but that works well with Rubio’s game and a dribble, drive and pass tot a wide open Ellis sounds great. I don’t know what to think either, I would like to see the Wolves take a shot with James Anderson to see if they can jump start his career. I always liked his game and wonder if he has been hand-cuffed on the Spurs.

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantI’d hate to see Pek go…but DAMN. That would be awesome! That would make the Wolves a legit playoff team! The only pieve they’re missing is a legit 2, and Ellis is probably one of the best pure scorers at the 2. Hopefully Adelman could talk him into D, and damn! That would be AWESOME.

NbanflguyParticipantI would be pumped to get a SG like Kevin Martin. A great shooter who can spot up, but also create his own shot. Think thats what the twolves need.

omphalosParticipantI’d hate to see Ellis end up in Minnesota, used to taking as many shots as he likes and will stifle the development of Derrick Williams as a go-to scorer, giving up Pekovic makes it even worse in my opinion.

aamir543ParticipantA Warriors fan here, if we get Pek and Beasley, I’d be one happy man, Pek is an absolute BEAST. He is everything we have been missing. Beasley gives us another imediate scoring option, and hopefully he can play the three and shoot a high percentage.
And for you T-Wolve fans, idk if Ellis is good match for you guys, but he is a great scorer, and he doesn’t domnate the ball as much as people accuse him of doing. Curry is the primary ball handler, and I wouldn’t call either a ball hog.
If Pekovic can keep up his dominance here, and Beasely can be productive for us, along with Steph Curry being a little more consistant(One night he gets 36, the next 11, but still plays great) and David Lee continues to tear it up, we might be able to climb back into this. If Klay/Rush starts at the two, that gives us one of them, Robinson, Wright, Beidrins(still a decent defender…………yeah not really) and Udoh off the bench, our future becomes even brighter.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantSo the Wolves would be trading a developing center and a ball stopper for another ball stopper?
It makes no sense for the Wolves to trade Pekovic when all it does is piss off the rest of the Wolves because it much tougher to find a quality center than it is to find 6′ 3" shooting guards. I can’t imagine Love being crazy about giving up inside scoring and rebounding help for a ball dominant player.
I like Ellis as a player just not if it’s going to open a new wound for the Wolves.

aamir543ParticipantWord is that my Dubs want more, and are asking for Derrick Williams, but if we take Williams, than the T-Wolves want more.
Honestly, I’d rather keep Klay Thomson than trade him in the package even if we get Williams.
I honestly want Randolph back. I know it didn’t end very well with him, but that was the old regim, and if we can somehow get away with an Ellis for Beasley, Pek, and Randolph with a Minny first, that would be great for us.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 7:11pm #639748

NbanflguyParticipantI do not think you are getting Beasley, Randolph, a 1st, AND Pek for Ellis…… then again our GM is Kahn

M-DYMESParticipant"it much tougher to find a quality center than it is to find 6′ 3" shooting guards"
If that is true, the T-Wolves are an exception. We haven’t had a starter worthy SG since Sprewell.

ha havent had a quality center until now either

M-DYMESParticipantDarko isn’t horrible. Al Jefferson was considered a PF/C so it is arguable.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 7:18pm #639753

NbanflguyParticipantI am a huge Darko fan, but when he is not engaged he is horrible on offense. He is always a pretty solid Defender though.
Jefferson was always a PF
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 7:19pm #639754

M-DYMESParticipant"Jefferson was always a PF"
Yet he has played many of his minutes as a C on both the T-Wolves and Jazz.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 7:20pm #639755

M-DYMESParticipantRegardless SG and C are probably the 2 most talent lacking positions in the NBA across the board.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 7:27pm #639758

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantAnd Jefferson playing at center has never worked out well for any team… and if the Wolves had thought he was a center they never would’ve given him away to Utah. Pekovic is the best center the Wolves have ever had… and their 2nd best center isn’t that much better than their #10 center.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 7:27pm #639759
BiggysmallsParticipantWould the Warriors trade Ellis and Dorrell Wright for Dwill, Johnson, and the Utah pick? How far away from a deal would this be if this doesnt work.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 7:32pm #639760

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantThe rule is in the NBA you never trade a big for a small. Why else would every halfasz center that hits the open market break the bank?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 7:40pm #639764

M-DYMESParticipant"The rule is in the NBA you never trade a big for a small."
Unless SG has been your biggest need for years and the player you are getting has perenially been on an allstar calier level for years with players entering and leaving multiple systems under the franchise. Pek has been doing it for a few weeks now. Monta been doing it for years.
Wes Johnson is absolutely atrocious shooting those constant corner 3s. Unbelievably bad. The T-Wolves would be far better if they had a player who could actually start and hit that constant wide open 3.
Pek’s great play may be possibly attributed to K-Love as well. I doubt it, but it is possible
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 7:41pm #639765

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantThe Wolves would be foolish to rush into any trade in hopes of making the playoffs this season. They have been bad since 2 years before Garnett was traded… what’s another 6 months. They need to see who on their roster can play and that takes longer than 35 games to determine especially if there was no summer or training camp.
The Wolves should offer Beasley for Wes Matthews since he’s a young overachiever and recently benched if they are going to make any trade for a shooting guard.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 7:43pm #639766

M-DYMESParticipantPersonally, I say hold off and try to get Batum and try him at the 2. He can hit that corner 3 consistently and plays great D. He is athletic enough to play as an oversized 2 and 3 plus he is great off the ball.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 7:48pm #639768

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantThe Wolves won’t improve by bringing in a defensive liabilty in place of 60% shooting 10-11 reb. center. Do you want to start at center Darko who was injured playing 1/10 of a second the other night?
The Bulls were able to make to the conference finals with Bogans starting because they have strong center play. Do you think they’d trade Joakim Noah for Ellis? Derrick Rose would quit the team first.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 7:50pm #639769

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantThey just named Batum starter this week so he’s not going to be available, not to mention they see him as their "golden child".
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 7:51pm #639770

M-DYMESParticipantThe Bulls also have Derrick Rose running the show offensively. And Derrick Rose would not quit on Chicago, your exagerrating.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 7:54pm #639774

M-DYMESParticipant$$$$ can buy alot of things, including Batum. Batum will be a UFA so u can’t say for sure the Blazers will get to keep him.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 7:56pm #639775

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantThe Wolves don’t need a great shooting guard to be successful. It would help if the player new the difference of when to take a 3 pt shot instead of a 2 pt shot. They obviously need a guy that can make the opposing shooting guard work on def. and be able to knock down some shots at the end of games as well as play solid def… but theat player doesn’t have to be D. Wade good.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 7:59pm #639776

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantOf course I was exagerating about the quitting part… but he’s pzzed off.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 8:03pm #639778

M-DYMESParticipantI’m just saying, Pek’s been doing this for a few weeks. Ellis has been great for years. Its a tough call. I think Pek will keep it up, but do I question it a bit, yes. Clearly Wes Johnson is not the answer at the 2 though, probably not the 3 either. I’ve never seen a guy take so many wide open corner 3s and just continually miss them. Its disgusting to watch and I’m fed up with it. The only reason he should get anywhere near as much PT as he does is b/c of his D. I’d rather have Ellington out there honestly. Makes me wanna puke watching Wes’ corner 3s. I’d rather have fukin Corey Brewer!
I would kill for Aaron Afflalo. He’d be a perfect fit in Minny.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 8:04pm #639780

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantBatum was drafted in 2008 so he’s going to be a restricted freeagent as Love would’ve been had he not signed.
Portland wanting to sign Batum to an extension is why I thought they could be pursuaded to trade Matthews.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 8:08pm #639782

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantWes Johnson doesn’t seem to be the answer for anything at this point, but I wouldn’t want to be wrong about Pekovich. The Wolves will be able to find a shooting guard… they just need to be patient. The worst thing they could do is overspend for a shooting guard at this point.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2012 - 8:09pm #639783

M-DYMESParticipantThank you for the correction. Just notice the source I glanced @ was bleacher. Should have known.
