In the mock draft, Ed Davis is above Derrick Favors, so I want to know, what puts Ed above Derrick?

He played around a stacked team at UNC and people didn’t focus on him and he was able to do his thing. I don’t think he’ll live up to the expectations this year.

I like them both a lot and Davis is one of my favorite players in the Nation but Favors is much better IMO. Davis doesn’t do anything better except maybe block shots and he is taller. I don’t think he is a better rebounder then Favors.

Derrick Favors has better length, athleticism and is way stronger. I’ll call quickness a wash. Ed Davis is taller.

I’ve seen Favors play a lot more than Davis, but from what I’ve seen, Davis has a softer touch and better moves around the basket. Derrick Favors is pretty much just brute force. Favors is a better rebounder and defender.

    I’ll take Favors.

He is the more physical player. I think he has more all around skills.

is mainly hype. i think he gets the benefit of having a good tournament run. i think when its all said and done, favors will be the better prostpect.

Just for the record Ed Davis is very athletic, not as much as Favors but it’s not as far away as you think

and Davis has a way better jumper and softer touch and much more polished game, but I think it’s pretty much a toss up as to who to pick

Watch, Favors will have a Mike Beasley type impact. Ed Davis is a very overrated prospect and player in my opinion. Gotta go with Favors.

We’ll see how Favors’ skill level progresses in his freshman year. He showed some improving range/shooting according to Borko at adidas Nations last week. But he’s still an undersized 4. He has the length but will get pushed around at his current weight.

It will also be interesting to see how Davis has progresed over the summer. If he’s added strength to his body, he’s going to be a beast. Both have nice shot blocking ability at the PF position.

Davis has far superior offensive skills at this point, despite the fact that he didn’t show them much in his freshman year. In high school, he had a lot of nice moves with good footwork and touch. I look for him to show that at UNC this year as the focal point of their offense. Favors obviously has the edge in length and athleticism, but outside of dunking, rebounding and shot blocking his skill level is still a long ways off. If he’s drafted top 5 this year it’s likely based on his upside.

Davis can do more things offensively giving him the edge.

Favors weighs around 235, but it is a strong 235. From what I’ve heard he has a great work ethic and a very good frame.

I expect Favors to top out at around 250 a year or two into his NBA career.

favor is a good scorer and blocker right now so he is a solid prosepect davis is great blocker with no offensive moves and he is very thin and he relies on his left hand to much he need to hit the weight room get offensive moves that can help him get a right hand but thats imo.

Aran I believe you are way off on this point. Favors has a great touch around the basket, great mid range game, and can hit 3 pointers. 2 years ago I agree with you but Favors is more skilled than Davis. IMO

How is Davis taller? They’re both 6’10…..
