JDB12ParticipantWho do you think the best PG in the East is? I think the majority of people would say Kyrie off the top of their head just based off of his two game winners against GSW in the last year and the ring, but Lowry has been one of the most consistent performers on both sides of the ball the last few years, and IT4 has propelled himself into the conversation since arriving in Boston. Kemba has had his best season by far and can be mentioned in the conversation, but I don’t believe he is quite there yet, in my opinion. And the last legitament contender of course is John Wall who has faced quite a bit of scrutiny the last couple of years due to his team struggling. Despite that, he is still an elite PG in the NBA.
In my opinion, I don’t really think you can place Kyrie, Wall, Lowry, or IT4 ahead of any of the others at this point. All are averaging about 23 PPG, 23 PER, and between 6 and 7 assists besides Thomas at 27 PPG and PER and Wall at 10 APG. IT4 has had the best season, but there have only been just over 30 games played this season and that’s not a big enough sample size. A lot of people would say Kyrie because of the forementioned statements, and the fact that he plays with LeBron and Love that he would take more shots and average more PPG. But in reality he already takes the most shots out of all 5 of these PG’s per game so I don’t believe he’d average more than 1 maybe 2 PPG if he didn’t have another superstar on his team. And I think his shooting percentage would go down a bit because LeBron gets him so many good looks. I do believe he would get at least 2 APG more per game since LeBron handles the ball so much. Wall is the only player avergaging a double double but is by far the worst 3 point shooter when looking at percentages and his team is the only that is on the outside looking in for the playoffs with a 16-18 record. And Lowry is the best defender out of the four and is on the second best team in the East.
If I had to rank them right now I would go IT4, Kyrie, Lowry, Wall, Kemba
How would you rank them?

CynthiaParticipantBandwagoners & trolls, it’s probably good they cut the fan vote % or we’d just have the Warriors vs. the Easterrn Conference.

Arc12345ParticipantI hear what you’re saying, and agree I’d take Kyrie first for the reasons you mentioned. I believe he’s really a well rounded guard, which is evident by how much he has to play off the ball with Lebron.
I’m probably not putting Lowry that high though, as he has choked massively in the playoffs repeatedly (especially when compared to how he plays during the regular season). He also got gutted by the Spurs a couple of nights ago…got to play well against the best to get my nod. I’ve never really seen those other point guards choke like that in the playoffs.
I’d go:
1. Kyrie 2. IT4 3. Kemba 4. Wall 5. Lowry
It was tough for me to put Kemba ahead of Wall, because Wall has played spectacular even though they’re not winning. I certainly understand flopping the order, but his lack of a consistent sniper jumpshot still hurts his game IMO although it has improved tremendously.

OhCanada-ParticipantHe had one bad game against San Antonio (pretty good team). Kawhi Leonard gaurded him all night and that game was the 6th game of a 6 game Western conference road trip that extended over Christmas. To have Lowry 5th is ridiculous hes having an amazing year and has the best record other than Irvings but Irving and Love loses when James is out.

Arc12345ParticipantHe’s having a fantastic year…just like last year when he got the start in the all star game.
Then choked extremely hard in the playoffs…not just one game but the ENTIRE playoffs. I’m not putting him above anyone of those guys who haven’t choked anywhere near that bad.
I love lowry’s game. He’s a special player, but playing well when it matters most should matter…a lot.

jwall1Participant1. Wall
2. Lowry
3. Kyrie
4. IT4
5. Kemba
Taking into account play on both sides of the ball and overall impact. Kyrie is clutch but doesn’t do much other than score.

IndianaBasketballParticipantIt’s tough because you could literally argue reasons for each player why they deserve to be ranked higher than the other.
I’d go:
1. IT4 – Averaging an efficient 28 & amongst the best at getting to the line. Dishing 6+ assists and barely turns it over. IF he was taller, he’d be getting more respect.
2. Lowry – He’s still a pit bull at both ends and is scoring efficiently. I mean, the dude has been lights out. IMO he’s been the best player on TOR.
3. Kyrie Irving – He’s having a terrific season and is showing improved court vision IMO. He’s growing/maturing as a player. He’s the closer on the Cavs.
4. Wall – He’s still turnover prone and an inconsistent shooter, but he’s elite at just about everything else. The Wizards are right in the playoff hunt.
5. Walker – He’s having a career year and scoring efficiently, but unfortunately somebody has to be 5th. I just don’t think he’s as good as the players above. Has the Hornets competing for homecourt advantage in the first round though, so maybe he goes up the list if they can keep it up.

Hype MachineTime to admit Dellavedova is at least on the Top 5 PG bubble.
People on this site don’t know the value of quality role players.
A quality role player is as important as anyone outside a franchise player.
They win Championships.
Dellavedovas body of work during the Cavs last 2 Finals Runs will go down in history.
Not John Wall.

holefillers1ParticipantHow do you still have 100 pts? My projections had you at -200000

Hype MachineGood question cos I average at least -15 per post.
Well down on my career high…
I raced up to around 2000pts before I did a heel turn and its been a slower-than-hoped decline since then.

SubZeroParticipantI’m admittedly a John Wall homer so obviously he’s my #1. And not just because he’s my favorite player, I honestly believe he’s the best guard in the East
It’s hard to rank these guys because they’re all really good, but without thinking too much I’ll go:
1. John Wall
2. Kyrie Irving (solely because he’s shown how he performs in the Finals)
3. Kyle Lowry
4. Isaiah Thomas (the defense isn’t up there with these other guys, and I’m interested to see how he’ll do in the playoffs after the step he’s taken this year)
5. Kemba Walker (like IndianaBasketball said, unfortunately someone has to be 5th. He and Isaiah are almost interchangeable to me and could definitely be switched)For what it’s worth, I think they all deserve to be All Stars

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI’d honestly go with all five as all-stars this year. Someone will most likely be left out (probably walker) but they all deserve to be there. I’d hate to see someone like Andre Drummond get in over walker or Thomas just to satisfy the need to put a big man in there.
After watching last year’s playoffs, I’d have to put kyrie number one, but I’d argue that both Lowry and Thomas have been better so far this year.

machu46ParticipantI’d go:
1. Lowry
2. Wall
3. Kyrie
4. IT
5. Kemba
Lowry is simply having an incredible year right now. 64.2% TS% is insane.
