I’ve seen Shaq take shots at Howard on the TNT show. 

The TNT crew would have the look like, come on now really ? I’m pretty sure it all started because Howard took on the nickname Superman.

Shaq is claiming he’s just trying to push Howard, but he’s really just bitter…

IF he really wanted to help/push Howard, he’d have taken him under his wing and taught him some of the things other great big men taught him.

This is classic Shaq though… He’s made enemies with everyone just about everywhere he’s been.

 Why is Shaq so angry with Dwight Howard? It is not like anyone is saying Howard is better than Shaq. Just because of the stealing of "Superman." Shaq is selfish, childish, and extremely egotistical but come on. Like Shaq I don’t think Howard is that great of a basketball player but to constantly attacking Howard and rating him below Lopez and Bynum is crazy. Shaq can’t really think that. Howard is easily the best center in the league but that isn’t saying much if you ask me. If Bynum was healthy all the time it would be a tougher call but still. The reason I am not a fan of Howard is due to his offense. His D is unreal but he should be dominating other centers and scoring much more efficiently with his size, strength, and athleticism. Either he doesn’t really work at his craft that much or he is just not capable of putting the ball in the basket. The other reason I don’t like him his because I don’t feel like he cares about winning. He is selfish and more worried about looking good and having fun- same reason I didn’t like LeBron EARLY in his career.   

Also, I think Brook Lopez sucks. He is one of the better scoring centers in the league but he is a lumbering 7-footer who is soft, slow (because of it is TURRIBLE at defending pick-n-roll), doesn’t rebound, can’t maintain position and gets pushed around in the post and I would take A TON of players over him. I need my Big men to play D, first and foremost. Howard, Bynum, Gasol, Cousins, Horford, Hibbert, Chandler, Noah, then Lopez. I would also take KG, Anthony Davis, and Greg Monroe ahead of him but I think they are PF’s.

 Dude what are you talking bout? How cant Dwight Howard put the ball in the basket if averaged 21ppg last year wwhile being 57% from the field? If you dnt like him, that’s fine but dont say things that arent true. Thats like saying D Wade cant score, he averaged 22ppg last season. You see what i’m saying? Dwight is not the most skilled offensive player, but to say he doesn’t work on his craft and cant score the ball is totally absurd.

Now don’t get me wrong, Howard has alot to improve on the offensive side of the ball but he is still dominating other players offensively with his size, strength and athleticism. He is the top scoring center in the league (yep more than Bynum, Lopez and Jefferson who are all arguably more offensively skilled than him) and he sure hasn’t been doing it with his sweet shooting and post moves. He is a very efficent scorer, averaging 18.4 PPG on just 11.3 FGA in his career with a very impressive 57.7 FG%.

People harp on Howard’s offensive skillset all the time, and rightfully so, but they fail to realize he is still a very good scoring center. Two years ago he averaged 22.9 PPG (with a 59.3 FG%). Only 11 centers in NBA history have bettered that; Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, Hakeem, Moses Malone, David Robinson, Ewing, Mikan, Bellamy, Gilmore and Mourning (12 if you include Yao Ming who once averaged more points but did it in only 48 of his teams 82 games, not qualifying him among the league leaders). That’s more PPG than Bill Walton, Dave Cowens, Willis Reed, Robert Parrish, Brad Daugherty, and Nate Thurmond ever averaged in a year.

Dwight has used his size, strength and athleticism to become the top scoring center in this league. Unfortunately it takes more than that to take the next jump into becoming an unstoppable force on O like a Shaq or Robinson.

Quoting PPG and FG% is rather limiting.

Howard gets a good 5-6 points at the FT line, where he shoots a poor percentage.

Take out put backs and pick and roll dunks from his FGs, and you’re not looking at go-to player in the post.

That’s the criticism that shaq was making, and he’s right.

 You have point, but in reality pick and roll is a huge part of majority of the NBA teams’ systems today. It’s offense… Why would you not wanna count that? He’s a great pick and roll player… They actually sign guys specifically because they can execute the pick and roll well. Dwight does have a running hook and a drop step that have been pretty unstoppable the last two seasons. The only reason someone probably can call him NOT a go-to player on the post, is because he’s more likely going to get fouled. Yes, Shaq had one or two more moves than DH, if anything. But if I remember right, Shaq also used a jump hook and a powerful drop step mainly(2moves)… Other than that, he got his points from putbacks and dunks and lobs also. Right?

Trying to make Shaq look as less of a jerk as possible, but I think he referred to Lopez and Bynum as better low post scorers than Howard, which is fair.

But NO WAY is Lopez even close to Howard. Howard doubles him in rebounds for God’s sake. And Howard dominates him in several other areas except free throw shooting.

I wonder if Shaq has anything to comment on that.
