Seamo15ParticipantAs a basketball player I love Dwight Howard. He’s an enormity on the court defensively and starting to show his offensive capabilities . Also he seems like a nice guy, always smiling and joking. This being said, his indecisiveness has decimated the Nets and Magic.
For the Magic the impact is obvious . A poor record as opposed to previous years, lack of team chemistry and the Stan Van Gundy incident. In the aftermath of the season you see the Magic owners conforming to keep Dwight happy. I know he publically denies it, but Stans firing was inevitable as soon as the rumors of Howard not being satisfied with him surfaced. To make matters worse, Most Improved Player Ryan Anderson is a free agent this season, and I don’t imagine that he will sign to a magic team who is likely about to start a full start over.
For the Nets the impact is obvious too. Their administration this year was intent on trading and signing in order to create pieces to keep Deron Williams through signing Dwight. Thos resulted in the Gerald Wallace trade , leaving Nets without a pick this draft. This was done when Dwight stated he wouldn’t sign an extension, only to flip on that and sign, crushing the Nets chances of a mid year trade. This means that with Wallace and Williams potential free agents that their best player is either Marshon Brooks or Brook Lopez, two players who were pieces to obtain Dwight. I know it’s fully logically to blame Nets management for this, but it was the false hope from Howard that caused the moves.

MKG_AllDayParticipantThe Nets will end up just like they were about two years ago. I think this coming year is dependent on Dwwights descion on what to do

Wavy BagelsParticipantNets and Magic are destroyers of Nets and Magic.

Zeke313ParticipantDon’t excuse the incompetent Nets management they brought this upon themselves. No GM in their right mind should empty all their assets and mortgage their future for one guy, at some point the asking price becomes too steep.

royk927ParticipantNo one told the nets to make that trade. Most teams put greater restrictions on draft picks when they are not that good to begin with. The nets should have stayed the course and continued to stock pile talent. If Williams leaves then they trade Favors ( who many believe is on his way to greatness) and this years possible star to go along with marsh on brooks. They have no one to blame but themselves.

Toronto16ParticipantNobody told the Nets to trade a lottery pick for Gerald Wallace.

Thomas C.K.ParticipantThe ONLY thing the Nets management has done right is drafting Marshon Brooks, its very possible he could become a 20PPG scorer as soon as next year. The only way to redeem themselves is to get Dwight Howard in a trade. Having D.Howard and Deron Williams would make the Nets one of the top teams in the East. It’s looking as if Orlando is desperate to get rid of D.Howard, so even the Nets management could rip them off Orlando in a trade and may not to give up much more than Brook Lopez in a trade.
People who bash Dwight Howard need to remember in his last game this year, he had a 20PT/20REB game as Orlando won at Philadelphia and ended a losing streak. If he was such a terrible teammate and person, he wouldn’t have given an effort like that with a bad back. Ever since Lebron became a free agent, the media seems to want to force potential free agents to make a decision every day of the season.
