d-grizzlyParticipantI found a topic about dwade/kobe from a popular user I debated and loved to talk to in the past, however, I am not too fond of the logic that was used. I did find too much opinion to be used. For wade, he has always been the more athletic player. He has always been the better defender. How do I know he was the better defender? Kobe received 1st team defense over players like doug christie in 02. That is quite ridiculous and only because of fan favorite did Kobe received 1st defensive team award plenty of years. Wade has more blocks than any guard since 03 and it’s not even close.
He also has over 1,000 steals. Popular users here like to be biased and claim wade either weakside blocks or plays the pass lanes too often….. right, as if wade doesn’t turn those plays into more points on the board. Go and look at countless highlights/mixes of wade turning defensive shutdown plays into points on the board (youtube). Next, he has always been the best paint scorer between the two. People like to claim Kobe has more range than wade…. but at what point does kobe’s inconsistency from mid range and 3pt (34% as a career from 3pt vs wade’s 29%) really impact how good of a perimeter player he actually is? Sorry, Kobe realistically has had more help around him from 04-2010 and that’s just something that popular users here cannot ignore.
Wade has always been the better creator between him and kobe. it really isn’t even close. On a team with beasely, chalmers, and haslem, wade averaged 7.5 assists. Kobe had the best paint scoring center of all time to carry him and he never averaged as many assists. Rebounding? That’s more of kobe’s advantage, but if you look at Kobe’s career, one has to recognize from 96-2004 he wasn’t guarded as much as shaq and was allowed to get plenty of rebounds because teams tried to keep shaq out of the paint. FACTS..
. Leadership? Wade has one finals mvp. Kobe has 2. So kobe has the edge, but it really isn’t by much. Wade had a subpar offensive finals in 2012 (injury) and lead to surgery needed. Wade still averaged 22 – 4.5 – 4.5, 1, 1… at 43% shooting, yes, still better than 3-4 kobe’s finals apperance %’s. In conclusion, I really think the debate between wade and kobe is that the two players are closer than what popular users here believe.

MkadozaParticipantIn summary Dwayne Wade has the potential to go down as a top 5 SG of all time, as is probably a first ballot Hall of Famer at this moment. I mean, career averages of 25-5-6-1.8-1, 2 Championships, a Finals MVP and Multiple All NBA selections and All Star appearences. He also happens to have the second highest career usage percentage, between Jordan (1) and Lebron (3).
