Did anyone else notice how much more of a committed defender KD is this year. He’s always had that T-Mac syndrome where he can look like the best perimeter defender on the floor when a challenge is presented or someone ticks him off but his effort this year has just been so much more consistent. Really great to see.

There’s all this talk about how Lebron isn’t the best player in the league anymore and how Steph took his spot, but what about KD? I feel like he’s getting no coverage this year, which is strange since you’d think it would be a big deal the kind of season he’s having coming off an injury that kept him out last year.

When you compare Steph and Lebron offensively, it’s obvious who the bigger threat is. But when you compare KD and Steph? I think I’ll take the 6’11 guy who has in the gym range and ridiculous explosiveness going to the hoop. Yes Steph is doing crazy things this year with that jumper of his, but I feel like KD is such a scarier defensive matchup. Along with that, he’s A LOT better on the defensive end than Curry is. I love Steph, but if LeBron isn’t the best player on the planet anymore you can’t just hand it to Curry without considering the kind of work Durant’s put in. It’s scarier to imagine what kind of numbers KD could put up if he were the clear cut number on option on offense for his team like Steph is. Westbrook and KD share that spotlight in OKC, and KD’s still putting up 27 a game.

It was always said that "If you put LeBron on any team in the league they’d be contenders". If we compare KD and Curry, I think KD would make the bigger impact if we put either on any team. I know I’m gonna catch some flak for it, especially since Golden State is having such a ridiculous year, but if I’m a GM starting a team I’d take Durant over Curry.

I get what you’re saying, but it’s silly to play the "number one option" card comparing Steph and KD. Both have the complete green light and can shoot whenever they want. They each have teammates that have the absolute green light and can shoot whenever they want (Russ and Klay). It’s not like Steph being the "number one option" is creating him a surplus amount of opportunites than KD, as he is only averaging one more shot per game. Also, steph is the clear cut #1 in plus minus this year. #2? KD’s teammate, Russell Westbrook.

Not to take away from your overall point, as I also think KD has passed Lebron in terms of overall best players. Just think that what Steph brings to the table has never been seen before in NBA history. I think that is sometimes underappreciated.

True. I’ve noticed also that Donovan has extremely high trust on KD’s defense and that for some stretches in games, he’s being put on the best player of the opposong team. Especially star guards who have a huge problem shooting over his length.
