OKLAHOMA CITY — Kevin Durant has always shown the league’s elite players appropriate respect. After the Thunder’s Sunday afternoon loss to Miami, for instance, he called LeBron James and Kobe Bryant 1A and 1B, as in being the best players in the game.

Chris Bosh is probably pretty far down Durant’s list.

Asked about a first quarter verbal spat when he and Bosh both picked up technicals, the mild-mannered Durant didn’t mince words. He called the former Toronto All-Star forward a “fake tough guy” who talks because he’s on a good team now.

The incident happened with 6:46 left in the first quarter after Bosh committed a foul. Durant said he didn’t immediately get into it with Bosh.

“I was talking to my teammate and [Bosh]  decided he wanted to put his two cents into it,” Durant explained after the 108-103 setback. “I am a quiet guy, laid-back guy, but I’m not going to let nobody talk trash to me. He’s on a good team now so he thinks he can talk a little bit. There are a lot of fake tough guys in this league and he’s one of them.”

    Whoa, but Durant wasn’t finished.

“I’m no punk,” he continued. “I wasn’t even talking to him first off. He decided to butt in and I’m not going to just let that slide. Especially in our house. Like I said, he’s not one of those guys I look at and say he has a rep for talking back to guys or getting into it. He’s a nice guy. I’m not going to let that type of person say something to me like that.”

Durant is not known for calling guys out, but he’s also just in his fourth year and is only 22. He doesn’t lack for confidence and takes his role as team leader seriously. He’s obviously not going to let anyone disrespect him or the Thunder.

Not even one of the SuperFriends.

Circle your calendar for March 16 when the Thunder visit Miami. Much of the talk going into Sunday’s game was the potential rivalry between Durant and LeBron. Might be a good idea to scratch out the King and insert Bosh.

    Well, I’m not really into Bosh as a player. But regardless of what people think of me when I say this…Bosh is needed for Miami to get over that hump. His skill set of beating big men off the dribble, consistent offense, and excellent free throw shooting keeps Miami’s offense from dissapearing. Other than that, Durant may have a point. But Idk you guys, remember when he was talking mess after the Laker’s put them out last year in the playoffs on Twitter? Durant may be just a small tad of a sore loser. Just a teeny bit. ) ;

I agree with both llperez and Jammin-Lemon

Durant suffered a bad loss and he might have been a bit ticked off at the fact that they lost.. I don’t think of Bosh as a wannabe tough guy, he just goes out and plays ball.

I think he might mean more along the lines of Bosh is acting really bold now that he’s on a good team and has 2 of the league’s best to hide behind. Bosh is definitely different than when he was in Toronto. He seems to talk a whole lot more, especially on the court and it seems like every time he makes a play he starts screaming. He’s a good player. Trust me, I get it, but every time he makes a play he acts like he just hit a game winner.

I am actually proud of Durant for actually using his vocals and calling out Bosh on something like this.  He wont call people out often, but when he does, you know that whatever happened had to tick him off.

At only 22 years of age. Durant has already shown his leadership (Team USA). Tonight Durant has proved to us that he doesn’t let anybody to disrespect him or his team. I sure hope he gets the MVP this year or next year if Rose gets it this year.

Good job for Durant. Don’t take sh*t from no one, especially in your house! A lot of people stand up and defend themselves using poor judgement and a poor choice of words but Durant did an excellent job of handling this situation. He is one of my favourite players in the league.

Hell yeah Durant. How are you guys backing up Chris Bosh in this situation. When does KD ever talk? He must have a really good reason. Bosh might not "play tough", but I can imagine him talking a lot of smack. All these NBA players are people as well, and I can totally see Bosh doing something like this. Go Thunder.

Talking trash doesnt mean your tough or it doesnt really mean your trying to be tough. It could just be a type of strategy of getting inside someones head so why agree with Durant if you dont even know what was said.

I mean i agree with Durant about talking trash back during the game an lettin bosh know hes not gonna get away with trash talk towards him but why call Bosh out and say he fake tough? Play the game and move on.

I really didn’t like that Durant had to call him out though.  Look at it this way.. What happens on the court, stays on the court.  Couldn’t he handle what he had to handle on the court and let it go?  Did it really bother him that much that he basically had to tattle tell?  You never see Kobe talking trash after the game but you see him getting into Battier’s, Artest’s, and Barnes’ faces during the game.

Bosh thinks hes a superstar now that he can ride Wade and James coat tail.  Hes not on the level of Durant so he should just shut up and play.  They call it the big 3 its like the big 2.5.  Wade, James and RuPaul I mean bosh.

Bosh really doesn’t say all that much on the court sure he screams after some baskets but I never see him actually try to act tough like KG

Chris Bosh was a 24-11 guy in Toronto.. the dude is a star so there’s no need for your hate.

I like it. KD called him out. He is better than Bosh, so theres no "hes just running his mouth" here, hes being honest, and i think the whole "He thinks hes cool because hes on a good team" thing is pretty funny. That said, LBJ and Wade came through and won that game today.

Kevin Durant can say whatever he wants at this point.  Most of all the young players in this league have his back anyway.  Duran was better then Bosh the first game he ever played in this league and he is not the first person to mention this.

Chris Bosh talking smack is out of his character, but Kevin Durant does come off as a sore loser somewhat…

I don’t have a problem with it though… I hope the Thunder and Heat start hating each other. That’s what I like to see… Young superstars going at each others’ throats… Not hugging, and joining each other.
