Watching "Dunks After Dark" the other night only assured me that there’s 11, 12 teams that will regret passing on Zach LaVine…The kid has star potential written all over him…I had LaVine higher on my draft board Dante Exum, because of his crazy athleticism, speed, and smooth shooting stroke…I’m surprised Orlando Magic gm, Rob Hennigan, who was with the Thunder when they took a chance on Russell Westbrook didn’t see the same diamond in the rough in LaVine…I like LaVine & Oladipo pairing together than Elfrid Payton & Oladipo…LaVine’s shooting ability would’ve went well with Oladipo’s slashing ability…Payton will be a very good player in his own right, but the Magic especially will regret not drafting him…Even Kevin Martin mentioned that LaVine is a mix between Russell Westbrook & Jamal Crawford, that’s scary

im a bruin fan and defenitely pulling for him, but i think people need to slow down a bit. I mean you just said that something called "dunks after dark" assured you he was taken 11-12 spots too late. Im not sure what dunks after dark is but im guessing he wasnt being defended. Lets let him play some games.

I watched 3 or 4 of his summer games and i saw some strengths with him having the ball as a point, but i also saw him still standing around a lot when he didnt have the ball and settling for contested jumpers when he tried to go one on one. I think he has tons of potential, but probably not as high on him as many. I mean superstsars have a way of forcing their will on opponents, zach rarely does that. He himself compares his game to jamal crawford and i think that is a good comparison. if he doesnt get stronger both physically and mentally, he will be in that jamal crawford, jr smith, nick young mold. Not that those players are bad, but not franshise cornerstones either. I mean i dont remember him posterizing anybody in college. All his dunks were break aways and plays where he lost his man. Once a defender was in his face, he was very gaurdable.

Yeah I’ve long thought LaVine should have been the guy the Celtics targeted, he’s got HUGE upside and his outside shooting makes him a natural fit alongside Rondo.

Teams are really going to be sorry they slept on him.

I think hes very overrated… I question his basketball IQ and his "want" to improve as a basketball player, He doesnt strike me as a guy that has the character to truly be the "first guy in last one out" type in practice and the weightroom..No doubt is he gifted.. as a rookie hes one of the supreme athletes in the league, but that will only take him so far once he starts dealing with bruising PF and Centers (Derrick Rose)

One thing he does have is a pretty solid jumper.. but Gerald Green was this guy years ago…Scouts spoke of Gerald Green the exact same way we are of Lavine.. obviously Green is coming around as a great role player but thats about it..

You must not have been paying much attention to Zack LaVine, dude is a Gym rat! His athleticism didn’t just happen. Not saying he is Durant, but did you say the same thing about Durant because he needed to hit the gym? LaVine’s basketball IQ appears to be right on par, I believe his summer league alone shows he knows how to play the game. And so far from what I have watched and read about him shows nothing short of him being a solid person. He has meshed great with the organization and his teammates and he is great in interviews. Sure you can see his age in them, but I would not say that is a bad at all.

From everything I’ve ever heard or seen of this kid he is a dedicated and hard worker. You don’t just get hops like that genetically, you have to work for it.

On top of that, he wasn’t a highly touted highschool prospect.  No Mcdonalds, or Jordan classic games.  So to go from an unheralded highschool senior to a lottery pick tells me that he puts in the work.

To what llperez said I think college did not allow him much space to operate. He will need to get stronger but I suspect he goes to the line a lot if he does not get scared off. Seems willing to take the contact wich is key. It will open up his jumper more. He looks like a confident player who IQ looks pretty high for a young player. I hope Smart becomes a beast because if he does not the Celtics will regret not taking Lavine. Too early to tell but I see a star player in that kid just waiting to prove it.

Based on potential and attitude, I don’t know if 11 or 12 teams will regret passing on him, but maybe 5 or 6 will. From everything I have heard, the kid is a gym rat and when he speaks and when he was playing in summer league he has a cold confidence, like Damian Lillard. He needs to get stronger, and focus on defense some more, but at 19 he’s 6’6", 181 pounds, and he is an elite athlete, with a good jumper and good handles. For a beginning that’s some great things to start with. I think his think will be all about opportunity. If he has to sit on the bench too long, it may ruin him. I think he needs to be allowed to play, and I feel if Rubio is traded that’s what will happen.
