Kinda surprised that no one has posted about the game last night. I’d like to discuss it with you all. Great, great game. As a Duke fan, I have never been prouder. Not the Rivers’ buzzer beater, not Tyus’ heroics last year. This game right here. Going into Chapel Hill without Amile Jefferson, Matt Jones getting injured early in the game, Plums stepping up after getting his 4th foul…overall great win. Brice Johnson is a manchild. Duke had no answer for him..but UNC’s guards did lol. How do you not feed it to him when he’s dominating and Plums has 4 fouls? Not calling a time out in the closing seconds to regroup your team and set up a play? Classic Roy. That game had me on the edge of my seat the whole night. Duke showed outstanding resiliency sticking around all game and pulling through. They showed amazing conditioning playing 5 guys for most of the game. UNC is a really good team but as usually, they are their own worst enemy. What are your thoughts on the game?

This UNC alum was so frustrated watching the second half of that game. The Heels for some reason decided to completely stray from their game plan of pounding it inside and drawing fouls (which was doubly effective since dook was down to a 6 man rotation) when it was working in the first half, and instead were all like "Hey, dook isn’t even packing the paint that well and playing cautiously to avoid fouls. Let’s just do what we suck at and wait til the end of the shot clock to put up a crappy contested long two or 3 when we can’t jump shoot. That’ll show em!" The Heels deserved to lose that game with that plan and wasted a monster game from Johnson. Also, even if Grayson Allen wasn’t a dook player, he’d still have the most punchable face- mostly because he looks just like Ted Cruz

That all said, y’all played a hell of a gritty game. Ingram is the real deal even though he struggled a bit, and Allen is a great scorer. Luke Kennard played well also.

I only want to say that I think Roy Williams made a bad call by not calling time out with 20 secs on the clock, down one, and 3 time outs remaining.

I read on ESPN this morning that he was claiming that Dean Smith taught him to coach the team like that.  He basically blamed his crappy decision on Dean Smith!  And the logic of it did not hold up.  He said that Dean let his teams play in crunch time because he dis not want to let the defense set up.  Problem with that is they were not in transition, Duke was already in a halfcourt set.  Dumb call, then compounded the embarassment by insinuating that it was Dean Smith’s fault.

Not going to lie, I expected us to get swept by you guys this year. Especially after Amile went down. Even if we get blown out in Cameron (which I obviously hope doesn’t happen), I’ll still be proud of this team given the circumstances. Another Duke-UNC classic in the books. See you guys in Cameron!

What gets lost is that the Duke guards did a fantastic job of denying the easy entry into the post that Carolina was getting earlier in the game.

^Yeah, Coach K is a genius for switching the defense to deny defense. However, UNC’s guards looked completely lost out there. They didn’t even look to the post in the last 10 min. For Paige and Berry, everything was dribble, dribble, dribble, shoot contested jumper. I think even without the deny defense that they would have folded. But yes, you are right in your assertion my friend.

Worst coached game by Roy Williams of his career.  Roy and K switch roles on wednesday and UNC wins by 20.
