SlickBouncePassParticipantAre they too talented? I know Coach K is probably the most respected college coach in bball, but I would have far more respect for him after this year if he keeps everyone happy.
You have Grayson Allen Matt Jones and Amile Jefferson who won a chip, and several upperclassmen who are solid contributors to this team, and then an influx of "1 and dones" like Tatum.
I don’t think Tatum knows how to play in a system. He was a gunner and took way too many shots even during the HS AS games.
Tatum is an obvious NBA player with his size and moves. So is Bolden. So is Giles. I know coach K wants to win and thinks he can do it by adding as much 1 and done talent as possible to keep up with Kentucky…
But this team is interesting. They have almost too much freshman talent, and too much upperclassmen experience. Kentucky sheds their stars and moves on. I will respect Coach K more if he manages to keep everyone happy through this year.
But Tatum is a young selfish player, used to being the man. I wonder how he and the vets will gel towards a Chip. Let’s see it unfold.

LaFlamaBlancaParticipantThis is a special group of players with upperclassmen and young talent. Kennard and Jefferson have actually been the best two players and the most consistent. Tatum, Giles and Bolden are all coming back from injury and they are being brought back slowly so theyll be ready to roll come March. Also, Tatum is not a gunner at all if you watch the actual game he plays in the flow of the offense and whenever he has been in an Iso situation on the block or high post something positive has come of out it even if he misses its still a good shot for him. Wait till ACC action and youll see the team clicking on all cylinders. Also Kennard might be a better pro prospect than Grayson Allen. Dude is a player.

losnopesosParticipantKennard is no doubt a better pro prospect IMO. Allen is a decent athlete but he struggles to get his shot off against good defenders and the typical duke/manu ginobli flailing around won’t work when he gets into the league (you’ve got to be a star before they let you flop nonstop).

Hype MachineWouldnt mind seeing Jack White get at least 2-6 minutes each game.
Kid proves he can play every time he gets on the floor and theres nothing wrong with yanking a guy like Grayson Allen if he misses his first couple of shots or Luke Kennard gets torched on defense.

LaFlamaBlancaParticipantWhen healthy Jack White is at best Dukes 11th or 12th man. Thats laughable to think he will get any sort of valuable pt this season.

tuck243ParticipantI was yelling last year when Grayson decided to come back. He was considered a lottery pick, already won a chip, and we had no room for him on the team because he takes so many shots. It was more pride than anything else I thought with him (if he doesn’t stay past this season, that’s exactly what it was IMO). Earlier this year Grayson was a blessing because we had so many people out and since he’s taking too many bad shots that’s not in the flow of the game, I don’t see too many people happy. The issue with having too much talent is the fact that players are unable to play through mistakes. K does a great job at balancing this for us so far, but I can see it being an issue further down the line.

BiggysmallsParticipantI think Duke will be fine – their version of fine, not most teams’
Jefferson and Jones are good players but neither guy needs a lot of touches to "happy"…they are both excellent role players who can also score in the flow of an offense.
Kennard and Allen are supremely talented offensive players but neither guy is a chucker or a ball hog.
I do tend to wonder how Tatum will fit in when he’s up to full speed because I’ve heard he’s got a propensity to hold the ball too much.
I’m not worried about Bolden/Giles. Giles won’t play major minutes and Bolden hasn’t really proven much yet either. If both guys can give you solid minutes, great.
When they get up to full speed, Duke is on the short list for best team in the country. I don’t think they are a clear runaway for it like some might’ve thought but they are awfully good.
