I was reading the article that Mitch could enter the draft (in the case the bargaining agreement is Un-modified, and age 19 and graduate from HS prospects are still eligible)

The Question is, Andre is the better athlete no doubt, he may end bigger and longer than McGary, i have heard his motor and effort is not on the elite level like Mitch´s, and motor is a high coveted characteristic on a bigman (Blake Griffin-Hansborough)

I havent seen Mitch much more than his stats, highlights and some sites opinions, but so far he appears to be a very fluid-smooth athlete ( a la Landry Fields in PF version), with solid ballhandling, tremendous motor and a smooth stroke.

If he declares in 2012, do you think Mcgary could/should be taken higher than Andre because of his intagibles?

i know its a very unlikely scenario, because Mcgary migh go to college and Drumond could be gone in 2012.

Comparing the two so far with the information i have seen-read:

    Athleticism   AD

Lenght/Size AD (althought not an abysmal difference)

Skill (both seem to have a very advanced skillset)

Shooting (dont know, both show excellent range)

    Motor and rebounding Mgary

    Attitude Mcgary

For the more BKB wise: Do you have any more info regarding Mitch Mcgary?

Anyone who isn’t in the KKK would take Andre over McGary.

If by intangibles, you mean more white and less athletic, then yes, McGary does have better intangibles.

No, because a GM can’t pick a guy who may well be a solid NBA player for a long time, but likely won’t be discussed as a winning teams first option, when such an athletic guy, that could become a superstar, is on the board. It won’t keep the fan base happy

While im near 100% sure Drummond will win this you cant ignore MccGarys consistent hustle. When trying to predict HS prospects futures effort has meant alot when it comes to players that were "cant miss" prospects. Gerald Green anyone?

Did this guy really ask if Mitch McGary has a chance of being selected in front of Drummond?  SMFH, no

On intangibles i think motor, Mcgary appears to have better motor than Drummond, but well you just hit the racist jackpot, we are not slaves any more you know?

My hometown is 10 minutes from McGary’s old high school. Everyone is still buzzing about the way he blew up this spring. I saw him as a sophomore when he was still just trying to put it together and I remember thinking he wouldn’t be any good. Going to prep school has transformed his game and he now looks like a sureshot pro. That being said, he’s not the talent that Drummond is, and anyone who knows McGary’s history should know that attitude and work ethic have been question marks with him as well. That seems to be behind him though, making this a typical case of talent/potential vs. motor and effort:

Athleticism-Drummond by far. McGary is fluid and moves well, but Drummond is explosive off the ground.

Lenght/Size-Similar size. Drummond is bigger and my guess is he’s longer.

Skill-McGary. He can put it on the deck and go coast to coast and steps out and knocks down jumpers on a regular basis. He also faces up and drives hard to the rack. He’s ahead of Drummond right now.

Shooting-McGary. Good form on his stroke and he can knock down 3s from time to time.

Motor and rebounding-McGary’s got the better motor, but I would bank on Drummond being a more productive pro rebounder based on his sheer size, length, and strength.

Attitude-I’ll give the edge to McGary because of how hard he plays. His former reputation doesn’t do him any favors though as he could seem out of control. But i’ll take that over someone who seems to be coasting sometimes like Drummond.

Long term I would take Drummond. He concerns me because I do believe there is a major bust factor, but i’m more convinced that McGary won’t be an NBA star (more like solid, dependable starter) than I am about Drummond being a total bust so i’d take the risk.

Drummond will be a top 5 pick, most likely one. Mcgary will be a mid late lotto pick when its all said and done.
